I am a grandma, wife and mom. My empty nest was filled by 2 wonderful corgis. Both have passed over the Rainbow Bridge and so has my sweet doberman, Misty. We lost our sweet corgi Izzy suddenly due to liver failure April of 2016.Our Cardigan, Watson is two and a total social butterfly and licking goofball. Supposedly Cardis are more serious than pems but not our Watson. We were very fortunate to be able to add a beautiful Wentworth Pembroke the end of April. Lexi is a tri colored corgi and just as cute as can be. Watson is in seventh heaven playing constantly with Lexi. Corgis are so fun and adaptable! We were able to attend the Florida Corgi picnic last November. It was awesome seeing about 250 corgis fraping around. Our cats, Cheech and Chong add to the hair and fun at our house. I love to walk in the Lake Lansing North Park in the woods and travel with the dogs and my husband in our RV.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Lexi is a tri colored Pembroke. She is still a baby but quite amazing as a smarty pants.
Watson is two year old Cardigan that alternates between being a little cuddlier to being absolutely wild. We also have two cats that like to cuddle. Life is never dull or hair free at my house.
I had to help my beautiful tri colored corgi, Sparty, over to the Rainbow Bridge after a bout with cancer and my sweet doberman, Misty. We lost Buffy many years ago and recently our sweet Izzy due to liver failure. It was so difficult and a piece of my heart went with them but I feel very lucky to have discovered corgis and this web site of great people.
Hope You all had a great time with the 2-legged family :).We just got back from a 4-day trip up to the river site on Our coast. We actually had the entire redwood forest to Our selves for 2 of the nites.Corgis never had to go on lead.Hard to come back after that, except both of them are pooped!!Both asleep under my feet at the computer.Hope to see You all enjoying what must be a beautiful Fall in Your neck of the woods.
Thank you so much for the comment! Teddy was a good dog, but not only that, he was a member of our family, and we couldn't ever replace him, but we are looking to get another Corgi soon, just a matter of finding the right one!
Oops, Bev, When you wrote, Wendy, I would love to see a video of you staging that great photo! Merry Christmas!," I thought your comment was to me! So, in shock, I responded, "what photo?" I never staged a great photo in my life, haha!
I realized just now that your comment was to Wendt Worth and her 13 Corgis. It was an amazing photo! Kudos to Wendy of Wendt Worth for her Xmas photo.
Glad to see Sparty has some of His toes wiggling without bandages :).We have Our laptop back and will be taking it out camping with Us tomorrow,so I'll be sure and check on any news You may get about Sparty.Hope all goes better from this point. We all care so much for Our furbabies and wish You the best possible news.
Thank you, it is hard and I did ppost on corgis remembered... Have got a olt of love from friends, everyone loved Mater he was a character. Not sure when we will get another Corgi, my daughter is pretty against gettign another dog all together. poor girl. On top of it he passed on my moms birthday. :(
Hey Bev, I don't know how I missed the photo of Misty curled up in a Corgi-sized bed. How hilarious! btw, we kept the leopard print bed of Dylan, who died at 14, in the den bec. it would look weird to not have it in the room. Lucy never went near it for 4 yrs. She is way smaller than Dylan, & I assumed it was too big for her. Then, enter R/R. As soon as he was big enough, it became his "spot." Then when we allowed R/R to share our bed w/ Lucy, she, totally out of the blue started sleeping on the leopard skin bed, and all of r/r's BIG beds. Corgis are so funny!
Bev, Did you see that glowing review of the RV park here in NC (near Ashville) that caters to dogs and their families. Someone wrote about it earlier this week. We had heard about it, but have never been. The park owners have corgis. This is just a thought....what do you think?
Plan a MyCorgi retreat at this RV park. They have cottages and trailers to rent as well as many full hooks up spaces. It would have to be planned a year out. Do you think enough people would be interested? Even if only 20-25 families came it would be so much fun.
awww, well glad to hear Sparty is still acting like himself. Poor guy with the back leg not doing well now. :( Glad he is tolerating the stroller rides though. Hugs to Sparty!!
Bev.... So sorry for loss. Sparky IS running in the flowered covered field with Buffy and Scooter ( my fur-baby I had to send to the bridge last October)
R I P Sparky ~ Buffy ~ and Scooter too...Sending you Corgi Kisses from Pippin and Gambler and hugs from me...
Thank you, Bev. I am watching her close, but she is so active. The hardest time is when I take her outside, she wants to run and play so bad. I am keeping her on a short leash, and when I take her outside to relieve herself I bring her back in as soon as I think she has finished. She is not happy about it! lol Be glad when this healing is done.....
We have friends in Highlands Ranch and I used to stay in H.R. when I was looking for homes in Colorado. It's quite a big place now, was smaller then, almost 20 yrs ago, where does the time go ?!?
How much money do you think is reasonable to leave in the will for the care of each pet?
Did you work out an amount or just pick it off the top of your head? I have been thinking about this for a while and I want to put an amount in a will that would be fair. Should the amount be based on the age of the dogs at the time of my death? I just don't know where to start.
I noticed another woman said that her niece would reimburse the cost of medical treatments to the person that took her dogs, but I don't want my family to have to deal with this responsiblity for the number of years that this could go on. I would rather a lump sum go to the person who keeps my dogs. I just have no idea what would be a reasonable sum of money.
Thanks for any assistance you can give me in this.
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping you had a magic formula... something you read that gave a guide line as to what others have done. I need to make some decisions.
We have put off a will for years now because my husband can't decide where he wants some of his personal items to go. I have thought about just making my will separate whether than wait for him. I want personal family items to go to my nieces, but I would like to donate all the money (minus some cash to pay for our dogs care) to our local humane society. I think that is a problem for him as well. Our family members don't need the money and we have no human kids, so I think that the money will serve the shelter better.
You are welcome Bev. Wynn is doing well but every once in awhile I think his back might bother him. At 8 1/2 he doesn't look like a pup anymore....I have just started noticing it. I wish dogs could live as long as "their" humans:)
They sit on the deck all the time together, but getting the same foot out was great. We call them the marines. No person or thing will get over that fence.
Oh Bev, Glad you both have each other to cuddle with! I bet it feels strange to only have 1 dog and I bet it feels different for Izzy too. It's -18 here right now and with wind it feels like-32. We were lucky not to get as much snow as you though. I had my emergency kit ready incase the electricity went out but we were lucky. The last time I can remember weather this cold was in 1984...
A Cardigan puppy????? Oh how fun...the few months that I had Calvin...he won over my heart:) He got the perfect home with Joanna and that's what he needed! Can't wait to hear more...
Just saw the note about poor Izzy and the neighbor dog.So sorry the neighbor has put You thru this! It's so hard to understand how some folks handle their pets.Glad to see Izzy is ok.Take care and after this Winter,I'll bet You're ready to head out in the RV :)!
Congrats on your new baby, Watson. Can't wait to see more pictures. Tell Izzy that Chepstow understands, he still can't figure out why we brought Tenby home 6 years ago!!
Your Welcome! We are headed up to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in a a couple weeks, hoping the weather isn't too chilly for the kids, so they can enjoy the lake, especially since they will only get one week up there this year vs 3 weeks! It is definately wierd with only one, especially all the ways your used to the other one being around, for example..if water was boiling on the stove, lance would alert me, which was good especially if I had walked away for a minute. If I ever get a real computer, I'm going to borrow photos from my *real* climber friends, and PhotoShop Al onto *real* mountains.
I even know a guy who climbed K2. I'm sure nobody would be surprised to see Al high on the Abruzzi Ridge without supplemental oxygen.
Stay tuned.

Why thanks, Bev. We celebrated a weekend early with 2 perfect days largely above timberline, just me and Gwynnie. She's pushing 9 1/2, and still spry.
Al says I don't look a day over 60... but that I should consider getting an RV.
