About My Corgi(s):
Mia came from Diane Molnar in Adams, New York. She was born on May 4th, 2010 along with 8 other litter mates, 4 males and 5 females, including Mia herself. We picked her up on Saturday, June 26th, 2010. We are so happy to have her as part of our family. She's smart, sweet, loving, and full of energy. We couldn't ask for better.

    PS: Hows the pup?
  • Judy & Taffy

    Congratulations!
Mia is absolutely adorable! Can't wait to meet her!!
  • justine moeller

Yeah for popped ears! Haha poor Walter...hehe
  • Daniel M

Did you get your puppy from Lynda? were you glad with her and the puppies if you did?
  • Daniel M

Oh, i wont be driving to quebec. Lynda offered to do delivery to mississauga. The only thing i dont feel too sure about is the point which you pointed out. If she had a waiting list of 8 why are there still 2 left, and they are already 9 weeks. Is it that corgis are less common?
  • Dan and Jen

Hey! Sorry about the delay. I had shoulder surgery last week and have been moving slow and Zoe has just been a handful keeping me alert and busy with one arm haha. Things are getting easier though. I'll try to upload some photos tomorrow during her afternoon nap. Hope all is well with Mia! (Zoe's ears are up too!)
  • justine moeller

Hello! Walter has one ear standing, not two floppy ones..haha.... he is so funny looking. We have been having great walks the last few days! Maine was really fun! Astrids new home is amazing. I really miss her though. I think about her about 100 times a day. I hope she is settling in. I spoke to the woman on Monday and then my phone died so I got a new one so will call again today. I think she will be fine, its a wonderful property and her new mommy is great! Speaks French to her and everything :)
  • Dan and Jen

Hi Viola!! I just put up a few photos of Zoe. :) Check it out!
  • Dan and Jen

This is Jen actually. Dan's wife. Forgot to mention that on the last post. :) Our little one is doing quite well. She is also a little monster!! Full of energy. She herds the cat...which is the funniest thing we've ever seen. She's being a good girl...most of the time. She's still having accidents on the floor, but hasn't had one in her crate...recently. haha. Crossing out fingers that habit has been broken as she's peed in it about 4-5 times. But, we just can't get angry at that little face!! And Zoe is quite vocal too....she whines, and barks and just plain enjoys making noise. Especially at the cat!
  • justine moeller

Hi Viola, no I dont know a good dog training school but I am sure you can find one. Are you thinking of going. Perhaps ask Judy, I think she tried one with Taffy..not sure how it went though. Its great for socialization though regardless! Ok lets plan a doggy date soon... :) When does Mia get her final shots, etc... Talk to you soon. Also, Sabrina (another member on mycorgi) wants to meet Mia..she has a corgi named Penny...so we should plan something soon.
  • justine moeller

Also, if you are having trouble with Mia talking alot, dont stress right now...we can also show you how we got Walter to stop barking and whining at night. Outside is a different story...although our walks have been great lately! Corgis are very vocal dogs so dont expect her to be silent however..haha

When she is nervous of family members, how do they approach her. It may be intimidating and quick and sometimes dogs just sense something they dont like...including nervousness.
  • justine moeller

Hi, I find that very weird that the vet would tell you that. Mickey, who would never ever bite, snaps at the vet as well..shots are not painless... Walter screamed like we had broken his leg when he got his shots...we had to giggle a bit.
Aggresive is a strong word for a puppy and in general for a dog...dominance and fear is probably a better choice. So I wouldn't be too worried about the aggressiveness. Socializing a dog lasts a lifetime... since she is so young you will start to find things she is scared or nervous about. Never put her down because of it.. you should acknowledge her fear and so Ok thank you and stand tall so she knows you are there to protect her.
Puppy classes will be fun though! Good Luck finding a good place :)
  • justine moeller

Oh sorry I read that really quick..I see you did find a place :)

Ok we are off to the dog park... Cant wait to see Mia again.... and dont stress to much... these classes will help a ton with making her comfortable :)
  • Tauna and Kota

Wow. Mia looks like she is getting so big. I love the perky ears. Hope she is being a bundle of joy!
  • Dan and Jen

Not a problem at all!! It just depends who is on here at what time. :)

Little Zoe seems to have stopped having accidents in her crate. My good little girl. It's been 6 days since the last crate accident. Once she laid in it, she has yet to pee in it again. hahahaha. No accidents in the house yesterday either. Sometimes she tells us when she needs to go out. When she has her accidents, she's so wrapped up in playing that she just seems to forget where she is, and just goes. We're working on that.

She's all signed up for obedience school. But it doesn't start until August 15th. She's learning though. She's eating well, and she plays fetch VERY well. It's her favorite game. That's so funny that Mia hates swimming! Zoe LOVES it. She's a little fishy. She's very very good at it too. A natural!

The issue we are having with her right now is that she's very bitey. She's just playing, never trying to harm anyone. But she goes after every pair of pants I'm wearing and nibbles on fingers. Sometimes, a very hard nibble which leaves MARKS on my fingers, legs, toes, holes in my pants. haha. We are trying the "NO" and then ignoring her until she finds something else to play with. That seems to work. She may try to get our attention one more time, and then she sits there quietly...and takes herself over to a toy to play with instead. Does Mia like to bite and nibble?
  • Judy & Taffy

Hi Viola, yes Taffy did 5 out of 8 weeks obedience with Lakeshore Dog Training and it was awful! However, we just started Agility training and it is SOOO much better and more fun! Have u investigated puppy classes?
  • Dan and Jen

"No" seems to just not work with her. But I keep trying. lol. I try saying "no" with a flat hand in front of her instead of a finger. That works ok. She's just so adorable when she plays with her toys. And when we play fetch, she gets so excited that she doesn't want to give the ball up. Then she jumps and tends to nip. By the way, I just love the pictures of Mia. SO CUTE. Zoe and Mia are definitely related.
  • Dan and Jen

I tried the howl... she stopped what she was doing, looked me dead in the eyes, and then... attacked me! lol. When we're sitting, she tends to like to attack us and bite of fingers or hands. She especially likes my arm restraint that I'm in for my shoulder, nipping at the velcro to keep my arm in place. That was fun though. Just the way she looked at me was like "what was that???"
  • Judy & Taffy

I'm taking Agility in Ste Lazare. Taffy is actually doing really well! There are only 4 dogs in the class so that helps.
  • Daniel M

I have bad news :( , i probably wont be able to get a puppy this summer. I went on vacation for a week and the day i came back talke to lynda regarding placing a deposit, and on that day a woman had already purchased the last puppy. I know a breeder near my house who has an adult dog available, almost one year, but i was more interested in a puppy. As of now i really dont know. I was hoping to get one by the end of summer so i can have more time to spend with it.You dont know any breeders near ontario with puppies do you?
  • Sharon Miller

    Hi
Yet another question from me-are Mia's parents tested and clear hip problems etc?
  • justine moeller

We have a new foster corgi! :) His name is Bou!
  • justine moeller

He just left for his new home in Ontario today. Moved with a Welsh lady who has owned corgis since she was 18! She is now 70 so lots of experience. He was a red and white corgi...4 and a half years old.
  • DIANE MOLNAR

jazz is doing good due anytime she is very big and uncomfortable.
  • DIANE MOLNAR

puppies are here 2males 5 females mom and babys are doing good jazz is very good mommy and getting help from zoey lol
  • Judy & Taffy

Taffy bit the groomer deep enough to cut her skin on the wrist. She assured me it's a common occurance and shrugged it off. Hopefully it will never happen again!
    Good luck at the vet!!
  • Levina Wong

Yes!! I was just talking to Justine about that! I got it mixed up :( She is a Pembroke! She just hasnt had her tail docked... which I'm glad she doesnt :) I've got to say that Mia is soooo adorable!!

I'm new to having corgis and Abby is my first! they're definitely different kinds of pups with lots of personality!
  • Caryn

Sorry for not accepting you as a friend! This interface is confusing me to no end!
It was a pleasure meeting you as well!
  • justine moeller

  • Judy & Taffy

Hi Viola...just wondering how the puppy classes are going!
  • Judy & Taffy

Taffy is wonderful. Graduated from Agility and has a diploma to prove it! :)
She'll be in boarding for two weeks :( starting next Wednesday while we are away in the UK... i hope the next Montreal get together won't be until we get back...
  • DIANE MOLNAR

HI Viola how are you and Mia doing . I hope all is well. We are having lots of fun with puppys..... have a nice day Diane
  • Judy & Taffy

we'll be back on October 13th... looking forward to another Corgi party!
  • justine moeller

He was doing ok, we were doing some on leash walks and hikes but then this morning he jumped off the couch and he is on three legs. I haven't seen it this bad before. He seems to be in pain. We dont have the money for a surgery like that so pretty stressed, will try and figure something out :(
  • justine moeller

I forgot to ask how Mia is.... I bet she is doing wonderful! :)
  • justine moeller

Hey! How are you? How is Mia?? Mickey has an appontment with the surgeon on oct 27th so I doubt he can come to the park but Walter can! Mickey is doing good... he is on three legs right now but doesnt seem to be in alot of pain...hopefully we can get it all sorted out soon. I feel so sad for him..he is the sweetest little guy! Give me some news about Mia :)
  • Steph & Nella

She is!!! I notice they look very much alike. Nella's ears are nowhere near standing up though, they are VERY thick and heavy. Nella is very laid back, we can carry her around on her back like a baby. What's Mia's personality like?
  • Judy & Taffy

  • Judy & Taffy

Hi Viola, I can find it at the Global pet food store in Pierrefonds. It's about $30 for the container but it lasts months. If you can't find it near you let me know and i can pick one up and bring it to our next Corgi playdate.
  • Judy & Taffy

Not sure if it makes a difference with surgery... wait till after if you're more comfortable...
  • Judy & Taffy

how did Mia's surgery go? is she recovering nicely?
  • Judy & Taffy

good stuff! I knew she'd sail through...same as Taffy. Did she spend the night at the vet after the surgery, or did u take her home?
  • justine moeller

Hope Mia is doing well after her spaying (I am assuming that is what it was for!) It can be stressful but I am sure she did fine! She is too cute with that cone! We always left the cone off when we were around, then on when we couldnt supervise. Of course that all depends how interested they are with their stitches... We have had about 15 dogs in our house neutered and spayed so I no longer stress about it...haha! Its so funny how some come out like they just went in for a check up..hard to keep them relaxed!
  • justine moeller

Hi Viola!  Glad Mia is doing great. Corgis are so funny in the snow eh? Haha its like heaven for ours, they go mental!

Yes, for sure we should plan a snow date soon. After the 18th when exams finish I am free anytime.

Dianne and Greg were not at westmount park for our last date (although maybe you met them separately) but they were there this summer at Dr Penfield! They were only there with Tuffy though as they recently added Lily to their pack! I found her up for adoption in Ottawa and knew Dianne was looking so told her about her. Dianne came to visit one of our old fosters before but didnt end up taking her because she is a bit of a senior and they needed a super active corgi to keep up with Tuffy..lol.

    Ok see you soon!

Pass on the word about our foster corgi too...we are still searching for a home for her!

  • justine moeller

No that was not Tuffy, it was Penny! Her owner is my friend Sabrina. We were actually the first two and only for a while, Montreal corgis owners on mycorgi haha So glad others joined..lol We used to have meet ups and it was just us for ages! LOL

  • justine moeller

I write Saturday morning (18th) and I think I will be pretty tired for a playdate after a full week of exams. If the weathers good we could do Sunday?

  • Dianne, Tuffy & Lilly

Hi Viola! Yes, we met in August at the Dr Penfield dog park Corgi meet. Tuffy was there (we didn't get Lilly yet). Tuffy is the middle of the pic you have up on the Montreal Corgi page. He's the bigger red & white :-)

  • justine moeller

Hi Viola! How are you and Mia doing? Enjoying her first winter? :)
  • Judy & Taffy

Hi Viola and Mia! long time no post :)  You met my friend Mona with her two terriers (terrors!) at the dog park...I hope you guys are doing ok, and we can plan another Corgi event now that spring is around the corner
