Hello! I'm so excited to know that others are interested in mixed breed dogs! I too have had issues with purebred rescues not taking dogs. :(
  • Suzette & Rueben Dog

Welcome Kitsie! How did you find your buddy?
  • Suzette & Rueben Dog

Hi Initch- You are cute! What's the corgi mix?
  • Cathlin Barry

Hi Kitsie. Everybody else here looks so Corgish except Wellie. Until you see his legs. Oh wait, you can't see his legs. Welcome, from Wellie and his mom.
  • Gracii

Thanks everyone! We picked up Kitsie at the shelter, she was a stray with no tags and no chip. We suspect she may have been a little escape artist, after having to chase after her ourselves! She managed to wiggle out the front door! She's about 1 yr. old and full of energy. She has the corgi ears, but a shepard face, coat, looong body and her legs are a bit longer. She also has a fluffy long tail.
  • Andrea Nicole

Hi everyone. I'm not sure exactly what kind of mix Viva is. Our friends saved her from their neighbors yard where her and her litter mates were being abused by the owners larger dogs. Her parents owners said she was a hot dog chihuahua mix, but they don't own any chihuahua looking dogs. The vet and almost every other dog person who has seen her has told us she looks like a corgi. I looked up breed info and she does fit the description physically and by her personality.
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

Hi everyone- I have 2 corgi mixes. I was told Astro, the black one is a Dachshund/Corgi mix and Starla is a Basenji/Corgi mix. Any ideas???
  • Suzette & Rueben Dog

Hi Joleene! I'm no expert but I can say for sure that they are just darn cute! Welcome to our group!
  • Suzette & Rueben Dog

Hi Andrea- Welcome to the group! Yup, I definitely see the corgi part. I also never knew really what a corgi was until we found Rueben. We have definitely been converted!Love her ears!
  • Suzette & Rueben Dog

Hi there Emily and Lilli! I'm curious. Does she have a tail?
  • Suzanne

Yes, I'd say Astro is probably dorgi. Henry, my guy is a dorgi (probably). Starla on the other hand, is a nice question.

Does Astro show the herding side or the ground dog side of the personality? Henry is mostly a ground dog (digging after them rodents), but occasionally will attempt to control where we're going.

The Queen of England is said to cross Dachshund/Corgi on purpose. I tell you, after living with Henry I'd snatch another one up in a minute! (and probably expect it to be just like Henry; therefore being unfair to both of us).
  • Suzette & Rueben Dog

Suzanne- Thanks for sharing! I feel the same way about Rueben. I've never had a dog like this before so I attribute it to the corgi side but what if I'm wrong and its just Rueben's personality...totally unfair to the new little doggie. What are the traits that your Dachshund/Corgi has that make you love him so much?
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

He shares both the hearding and the ground side! he plays so very nice at the dog park, untill someone is too rough with his little girl, then he begins this strange barking/warning/hearding ritual. it is so funny because he is not mean and does not growl but he will make these short little warning yips! especially at the house when starla is doing something she shouldnt! they are such fun little kids really------
  • Suzanne

Henry's first chore in the morning is to plop his chest on mine and give/get morning love. I sleep with a mask on, but as soon as he hears me take it off he's right there.

For a while I was leaving him home during the day. The woman that came in to clean the floors thought he was sick until they saw him with me. They we're 100% astonished it was the same dog. They said all he does is lay around when I'm not there.

Now I drop him off at a friends house and he has day care, but he still isn't the same guy that he is when I'm around. This makes me feel extremely special, but also a little fearful. What would happen if I was gone? Fortunately he's much better since Tina has been watching him.

Henry just makes me think of the saying, "I wish I was half the person my dog things I am."
  • Gracii

Heehee! As soon as our alarm goes off, Kitsie leaps from her bed and shakes. then she does this "reindeer" stretch with the back legs straight and tail up. We can hear her claws on the carpet while she stretches.
  • Jadie

hey~ mia is a corcollieow = corgi collie chow mix... but mainly i think shes just a corgichow cause of her crazy hair and personality! and to Kitsie's comment my Mia does that same stretch!! then she sits her butt down then sprawls out like a frog.
  • Tammey & Caven

I just had one of those moments that I often have in the truck after having been out on the road for a few weeks. I'll wake up in the morning and take Bear out for a walk and am 100% sure that he has a much better idea of where we are than I do. I thought that I was one of the first members here? Maybe I was and I made someone mad at me again and was kicked out. I'm sorry! Was it that thing I said about Califronia making Bear itch.
  • Suzanne

I had the same issue with the membership. Maybe the group got deleted, and recreated???
  • Suzette & Rueben Dog

Hey Suzanne, Tammey & Caven- I'm not sure how it happened either....I didn't delete you and wouldn't do that anyways....I'm not that easily offended! Welcome back!
  • Suzette & Rueben Dog

Hi Jadie- a corcollieow? I've never heard of this breed before. How cute! I absolutely love the white spot on his forehead and you can definitely see the corgi part. Welcome!
  • Suzette & Rueben Dog

when rueben wakes up in the morning he does the typical up dog/down dog yoga stretches. He sleeps in a little bed at the bottom of our bed but will sneak up and snuggle with us if we let him.
  • Suzette & Rueben Dog

Suzanne- regarding your comments about your buddy being alone during the day....Rueben is the same way although we have people home during the day - they say he just mopes and then when I'm home he is a completely different dog. I worry too....
  • Suzette & Rueben Dog

joleene- your kids are adorable in an odd sort of way. I really love the looks of mixed bred dogs - they have their own unique look!
  • Tammey & Caven

I wanted to share this picture of Bear and Sam. Sam belongs to an exceptionally cool couple we met in Denver and brought back to Texas to live. Sam is a Corgi/Lab mix (as if anyone couldn,t tell)
  • Suzette & Rueben Dog

Tammy & Caven- Don't they like so happy???? You can actually tell that they are loved. Thanks for sharing.
  • jeff

This guy is an APL rescue. He's definately part corgi, the other part looks to be some sort of hound. But what a personality he is.
  • Suzette & Rueben Dog

Welcome to our group! What does APL stand for? Do you think there is any beagle in him Jeff?
  • Gracii

Woo! The new Corgi calendar is available! I just bought it! I'm so excited!
  • Suzette & Rueben Dog

Beautiful photos! Just a little disappointed that there wasn't a page dedicated to us corgi mixes. Oh well, my mommy still thinks I'm a great boy and wouldn't trade me for anything!
  • Geri & Sidney

A corgi mix calender is a great idea! I bet someone could make one at Staples if everyone sent in a photo. I just can't afford the upfront cost, or I would tackle the project.
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

there is a website called vistaprint.com that you can get free calendars made plus the cost of shipping. if the mixes submit photos, it would not be hard to get this done. depending on how many would be needed- i might be able to tackle this!
  • Geri & Sidney

that would be great! I have a nice pic of Bruce. If you decide to tackle it, just let me know where to send the pic to you.

And if you do have a Staples nearby they have a kiosk where you just insert your usb key and it walks you through the design process. No shipping cost involved and no wait either. I'm not sure how good the quality is though.
  • Suzette & Rueben Dog

I like the idea! I'd be willing to help out too. I don't want to be a sore sport and I do understand that this is a corgi site but us corgi mixes need and want some recognition too!
  • jeff

I'd submit frasier for a calendar. He's quite a handsome fella.
  • jeff

Suz, Mixed breeds in my opinion, can at times take the best traits of both breeds and bring them to life. My boy has enough Corgi in him to make me want another (something I never would have thought before, being a bully breed fan). I don't know what his other parts are, but the corgi got my attention, and made me not only research the breed, but respect it as well. What a clown he is!
  • Geri & Sidney

Jeff, Frazier sure has that corgi grin! I love the freckles on his nose.
  • Gracii

I would be up for a corgi mix calendar!! But we'd need to find out the size and resolution requirements for the picture.
  • astro, starla, joleene & jason

i just checked on vistaprint and the res should be 1665 X 1325 pixels. the deal is that you get 1 for free and pay for the shipping. seems to good to be true but i use vista print all the time for my business and that really is the deal. now, to order more might be where the $ comes in. im thinking if everyone sends me their photo, i can upload it and make 1 calendar. then were do we want to go from there? take color copies and pass them out for the cost, which would only be around $5. do we have 12 different people that want to joing in on this? if not, we can always duplicate it- i have 2 mixes.
    ideas???
  • Geri & Sidney

I would definitely pay for a copy! I'm not sure if my photo res is big enough, but I can check it out when I get home.
  • Hilary C.

My corgi and I are new to the site, state and all. Just throwing out a friendly hello!!
  • Cathlin Barry

Hi and welcome from Wellington. Boscoe is a very handsome boy. Wellie has a blue-eyed sister too. She torments him a lot but she has brought him out of his shell and he's starting to be friendly with other dogs at the dog park.
  • Lou Ann Lemaster

I just got on the tail end of the chat about a calender.....where is the decision at now about it? And sorry, I don't have picture of Chloe and Duncan together as of yet, just a picture of Duncan on MyCorgi page.
  • Jason Nordgren

Hi all, I'm new to the group and I'm hoping to rescue an adorable little female cardigan mix from the pound. She gets released the day after Christmas and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. She looks to be predominantly corgi, she's just a tad small and her ears either haven't come up yet or they are floppy from whatever other breeds she has in her. I'll keep you all updated and I'll post some pics when (if?) I get her. Wish me luck!
  • Hilary C.

GOOD LUCK!! Do you have any names picked out yet?
  • Jason Nordgren

Thanks Hillary. Yeah, I've seen it done before, but I'm a huge Cowboy Bebop fan, so she will be Ein. :)
  • Hilary C.

Can't wait to see pix of her! My Bos is a Cardi mix too. i prefer the Cardi attitude. What other breed do you suspect is in her? How old is she?
  • Jason Nordgren

I'm thinking she has a little spaniel in her, but I'm not really sure. And the shelter lists her at 1 year old. I put up the crappy cameraphone pic I took of her yesterday so you can see. I'm gonna go back today at lunch with my DSLR to visit and get some good pics. I'm gonna be heartbroken if she gets claimed, but at least she will be with her (hopefully) loving family. I just wish I could pick her up on the 24th so she can spend Christmas with us, instead of having to wait till Friday morning.
  • Hilary C.

Defnitely some spaniel in there. She's a beautiful color!
So did the previous owners put a HomeAgain microchip in her? If not, then there's a pretty good chance that she's all yours! YAY! Make sure you get her stocking hung!
  • Jason Nordgren

Nope, she doesn't have a chip, and if we get her, that's the first thing we're getting done. Boscoe and Dia are both adorable as well.
  • Hilary C.

AWE! thanks. yeah, we have both of our pups (they're 5 and 2 but they're still my puppies!) microchipped, ID and Rabies tags on their collars, we have keychain tags and wallet cards with their HomeAgain #s and pictures...we even have HomeAgain set as speed dial! We migh tover do it a bit, but I'd rather be way too safe than lose one of my pups forever.
