About Me:
I work as a lobbyist-not a bad thing! LIve the rural life with Corgis, rescue dogs, horses, chickens, cats. Two beautiful grown daughters. If I had my choice I would quit my job, stay at the farm and raise corgis and horses!
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
We are honored by the presence of Lizzie (Q Lizzie Beth) and Fergie(FCF's Royal Ferguson) and Brodie (FCF's Little Bonanza Brodie). Recent additions to the family are Fern (puppy mill rescue and princess), Poppit (blind rescue), and accidental addition Sherman--my failure as a foster mom! Lizzie is our 7 year old Black-headed tri-color Corgi. True to the breed. It is like living with a cartoon charactor. Fergie is our three-year-old Red/White female and a real snuggle bug. Brodie is a black headed tri who is 1.5-years old. Fern is a 4-year-old red/white Corgi that was rescued from a puppy mill in January 2008 and was in Foster Care for six months! She has some special needs, but has adapted beautifully! She is quite the charmer. We celebrated her one year anniversary with us in May 09. Poppit has been with us for just a couple of months. She is a red-headed tri and she is completely blind-juvinile cataracts and small eyes--the result of poor breeding. We are working on her social skills and she is coming along. Sherman (formerly known as Denver) is a 15 month old red and white bundle of love and energy.
I have:

Lizzie loves to be in water over her head. She paddles around with her nose sticking out snorting all the time. It makes her very happy.
  • Frances

Thank you for the welcome, Kristen. I'm so sorry to hear you lost you Basil. I know what you mean about stealing your heart.
  • Charlie

Having all five dogs on one food has to make your life much easier. I'd think they would be less likely to be jealous of each other's food too. But I can see them still "checking" each other's bowls just to make sure. That's funny. :)

Charlie's gone through almost 2 small "test" bags and I'm happy, so we're moving up to the economy-sized bag. He's eating less too since the calorie count is much higher than his puppy food. Life is good! I'm sure with 5 dogs, the economy size is a small bag for your group. LOL

    Hey Kristen!

Thanks for leaving that nice message on my page. I appreciate it! You said something about finding the graphic I had as a poster -. . .well lookit what I found!

    http://www.cafepress.com/dogs_of_war/744158
Apparently they have t-shirts, mugs, and posters with this and various other breeds on them.

Anyway I've been looking at some of your pictures and I've fallen in love with your little ones. I was mortified to hear about Basil. I'm so sorry.

I'll try to post some better picks later but. . .I'm still getting used to all this! <3
  • Daisy

Thanks for the comment on my profile! Your 2 corgis are adorable!

  • Duncan

Also see that you are a horse person too!!!! I work at a Saddlebred farm :) I have been riding since I was a little girl...looking at some rescue horses!
  • Brian Davis

Kristen - Thanks for the compliment about Brynn and the photos:) Your babies are adorable as well !
How is Fergie now ? Any better ? Wishing her a speedy recovery :)
  • JCWeber

Thanks, Kristen. It was sad to read about Basil; I am sure that it was very hard for you. Chucky had degenerative myelopathy, which made him lose control of his hind legs. I hope that there will be a cure for it in the future. I am looking forward to this group and meeting people who share the love for the best little dogs in the world!
  • JW

Your story about Basil really breaks my heart - I don't know what I'd do if anything like that happened to my babies!
But thanks for the lovely comment about Griffy :) Your Corgis are absolutely adorable!
  • Mallori Shortridge

Aw, your couple looks like mine! How cute!
  • Nancy

For the past year or so, I've been writing for The Reader out of Omaha. Not too much other than that, for now anyway.
  • Kaleena

yeaa i miss him a lot! but he comes to visit every once in a while. and he misses me cuz when im coming home, my parents say to him "kaleena's coming home!" and he goes running to the front door. lol. he's fine with them though, him and my dad are best friends but he'll always be my pup. he was a hs grad/bday gift to me from my bf....best gift EVER!
  • Charlie

Thank you for the compliment on Charlie's new profile pic. He is one happy boy! I love him so much. : )

When is Turbo coming home? Has the breeder sent more pictures? I'm so excited for you! The cute puppy stage doesn't last nearly long enough. Makes me want another one.
  • Kristen

Turbo is coming home on the 17th. I'm so excited. I wonder about the sanity of getting one more Corgi, but I am hooked. I am so jealous that you are able to work from home. It will be hard to leave him when I go back to work. The other dogs will certainly keep him company, but puppies need a lot of lap time. I may bring him to work with me for a few days--for bonding time! Charlie does have that happy content look that just says "its a good life!"
  • Apollo & Daphne

life is great! thank you! we are having a lil trouble potty training lol. she goes with big bro and we praise her. then within 10 - 15 minutes she makes a ninja potty somewhere in the house and i have to discipline her. for every successful potty there's an un successful one.
  • Anna Fung

  • Anita Bjerring

The joy it must be too have three beautiful corgi´s. I´d love a playmate for Cæsar, but will have to wait a few years. Good luck with the little one. And do look us up if You ever come to Denmark.
  • Becca [Formally Siduri]

Thanks much! He is my first Corgi, but my second herding dog. Herding dogs have always been my favorites!
  • Yogi d'Corgi

Thanks for the comment. They love each other. I dont think Yogi realizes that Zero is a cat and Zero thinks he's a dog.
  • Yogi d'Corgi

I am so sorry about Basil. So sorry for your loss. I admire your dedication in the bill that you are trying to get approved. I hope the best for you and family. :o)
  • Evelyn Kay

Oh yes I am learning quite a bit just browsing around and reading all the experiences from other corgi owners. I'm very excited to welcome one of these little guys into my home. And much congratulations on your new addition! He is absolutely precious! I'm very sorry to hear of your loss that is indeed a tragedy. I hope the law is successful. Wishing you the best to you and your adorable corgi crew! :)
  • Bama Girl

Hi Kristen! Thanks for your comment. Your tri-color is adorable. I was torn between a tri and Bama but she won my heart over quickly. I know Brodie will enrich your life just as much if not more than what Bama has done for mine.
  • Ju Lo

Phew! It's been such a whirlwind! The week before getting the puppy, getting the puppy, having the puppy...it's all be crazy!

Theo is home and wonderful. I'll have to upload some pics here so I can show him off! :) I'll be posting for info on my blog when I get a chance.
  • Stephanie & Lola

  • Lynne Brady

I will have pics in the next few days. My monitor on my computer died, and all my pics are there, of course. Getting my new one tonight, so will get them on line soon.....Thanks for your welcome .....Lynne, aka, Maggie's mom
  • Tracie & Emmy

Thanks for the welcome! Hope things are going well with the little guy. :-)
  • Becca [Formally Siduri]

We had a splendid time with the sleepover. In fact, we got so tired, we went to bed early in our crate while everyone was watching tv. The highlight was constructing a snowman.

Which was barked and growled at this am...:)
  • Becca [Formally Siduri]

He has continued to defend against the evil snowman by lifting his leg. He is very proud of himself after that...hehe.
  • Lynne Brady

Grandma always to me the the "e" made it feminine...don't know about that, but never heard otherwise......never argue with grandmas or corgis, right? Thanks for the words on Maggie.....I've told her all the nice words people from this website have said and she just beams.......
  • Carl & Pam Wittenberg

Hi, thank you for commenting on our corgi!

    You have beautiful, healthy corgis!

I can't wait to get one of my own! Just do all the research I possibly can before i take one home :)

    Thanks for the welcome!
  • Brian Davis

Hey Kristen - Thanks for the comment on my blog :)
Brynn was a little better this weekend around other dogs .Hopefully next time we go to the meet up she'll be running with them , and not away from them !
Hope you had a great weekend with Lizzie and Fergie :))
  • Shannon

Thank you, Our Buttercup is feeling a good bit better now and starting to act like her old self. How are you enjoying all this winter weather that won't go away.
  • Chad & Jeni's Page

Thanks for the welcome. Sorry to hear about your basil. I would be so devistated. The new puppy is so cute. I would love to have 4 corgi's!
  • Brian Davis

Thank you for your sweet comment and friendship :))
  • Becca [Formally Siduri]

Brodie looks so sweet...I would have loved a puppy, but did nto feel I was home long enough during the day. My mother is with Jake all day, and that has helped him to adjust.

Hopefully, someday, another Corgi will join us...:)
  • Becca [Formally Siduri]

Oh, I love blogging. My late and much lamented kitty had her own LiveJournal...

The thing that worried me about a puppy was that my mother, who is 82, might not be able to manage the full training regime. Jake has his issues with socialization, and was not fully housebroken, but he is older and understands "no" and listens when she puts him out.

It sounds like you all do have some leeway with being able to get home for a pup. My daughter and I don't get home until 6:30...
  • Becca [Formally Siduri]

I went to Forpaws.org and an application with them. They only really adopt out Corgis to people who have had Corgis before, but I had a Belgian Sheepdog for 11 years so we were already trained in the personae of the sheep. This organization seems to have quite a few people all over the country, so they suggested Jake and I talked to his foster mother and he seemed to be just right.

As far as socialization goes, we are doing pretty well. He still nips a bit when he gets over excited, does not always come when I call him to go out. Little things, that I think in time will iron out. So far, he is doing great with the potty training!

I hope at some point we can get him settled and perhaps think about another Corgi. I did see a few Corgis around here for adoption but they did seem to have a lot of issues because they were in shelters. Now that I found MyCorgi, I can actually post and see who is a good breeder! I looked at some of the puppy sites, and they were SCARY!

    How did you find Brodie?
  • Brian Davis

Hey Kristen - I love to have Brynn with us when we are on the road . I found that here in Oregon we have a bunch of Hotels that allow dogs for a small fee.Being a first time dog owner , i was surprised there were so many .As far as it being scenic , everywhere in Oregon is so it makes it easy :))
Thank goodness Brynn doesn't get car sick ! That would be a shame . I know a lot of dogs do .I started taking her on as many outings as i could when she was 8 weeks old and still do .Brynn goes with me on my local errands and seems so happy to be with me .
This weekend we are thinking of going up to Mt Saint Helens .Only an hour and a half away from us .
    Any plans for the weekend?
  • Brian Davis

50 ! Yay !!! that is warm ! We didn't get ant real snow in the valley this year , we had to go to the mountains to enjoy it .
Muddy babies ! I was bathing Brynn in the sink at first , but i took her in the shower with me last time (a friend suggested it ) and she wasn't as freaked out .We saved water and towels as well ! LOL Going try it more often now .I give her a bath/shower about once a month .
