Profile Information:

Hometown:
Fortuna, California
About Me:
I'm a hard working single mom of one Pembroke, Timmy. : ) Obviously I have quite a sense of humor, (being a corgi lover).

I'm retired from public service, and work part time at what ever other jobs I can find to support, "The True Prince of Wales".

I own a small home located in a small rural community on the far northern California coast; far from the maddening crowds and 4-5 hours from civilization. Surrounded by very tall trees, redwoods, I love being in the outdoors and "roughing" it.

I'm much wiser than Timmy thinks I am.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
What can I say? Words escape and run in figure eights around the various items of furniture in the living room. Timmy is the "True Prince of Wales". He's very concerned with his looks, since he's very oversized (structured more like a cardigan). Very physically fit!! works out daily, in home, on the road or track, at the park chasing balls and once a week by a pet walker. Timmy doesn't walk, he struts, honest. When he meets another dog, he puffs up and makes sure the dog knows he's buff. It cracks me up!!! Timmy says to check out his dogster page at www.dogster.com/dogs/317521. He's also a junior reporter for our small local paper, Humboldt Beacon, writing stories on dog care, pet issues and news. So he's probably busier than I am!!!

Timmy got his CGC in 2005, he also got his certification from Delta Society as a therapy dog qualified in complex areas. He's started in agility and this year we are going to try rally obedience by attending some local classes.
I have:

Timmy is a very good looking guy ...

    Timmy is so handsome...

The trip was coordinated through the rescue org. The foster home got him ready, got the crate, made the flight arrangements. She let me know the final costs and I sent her the check. It was very convenient.
  • Sam & Maximus

Thanks for the info Sylvia, that's helpful. I'll poll the family to see what we can come up with.
  • Becca [Formally Siduri]

He flew from Wichita to Dallas to Hartford. Big trip!

We are supposed to get the snow tomorrow...we shall see!
  • Becca [Formally Siduri]

Thanks much for the comments on the collar! Especially how the skin is loose. I can fit two fingers under the collar, but the collar is old...and I planned to get him a new one. We are going to measure him tomorrow. And I am going with a harness, it makes ME feel more secure, it may make him feel better, too.
  • Becca [Formally Siduri]

You have been so helpful with this, thanks much!
  • Tracie & Emmy

Hi Sylvia, Thank you for the comlpiments on Emmy. She is quite the ham in front of the camera. (Good treats will work miracles!) I would be happy to talk about the dog park with you. I checked out your website and it looks great! Our situation is a bit different here. We got the OK from the monroe county parks commission to open 4 dog parks inside of 4 existing parks within the county. The locations, associated costs, etc. are already determined, the only catch is that the county will not use any of their own funds to get them establisted and running, so the dog park committee was established to help with the fundraising aspect. It has been a VERY slow go. We hope to have two parks open in spring of 2009, and to use the membership fees ($10 yearly) to collect the remaining funds for the other two parks. So, when are parks open, they will technically be county run parks, rather than private or non-profit parks. I'm always happy to talk about dog parks, feel free to message me anytime!
  • Tracie & Emmy

Sounds good - glad to help out however I can. :-) I sure do wish the snow would come to and end, however Miss Emmy would be happy if it snowed 365 days a year! The deeper it is the better she likes it - she is a nut!
  • Me

Thank you Sylvia, Your Timmy is one of a kind. He reminds me a bit of Mr Spock. A bit superior with those sharp ears and stern look.
  • Mary Ann & Tucker

Thanks so much, especially for the behavioral comments. He's very calm around elderly people. With babies, I've seen him sit down and watch over them when the parents put the car seat on the ground. But you're right, the jerky hand movement make him nervous.

I like the idea about the jacket. Obviously he doesn't mind it (by the way, the one in the picture is from Lands end. Both the preschool and adult day service areas are in their own wings behind closed doors, so he will have clarity about the boundaries.

    Thanks so much! M.A.

    Good Morning Sylvia..
    Love to read your blog...
Have a wonderful day with Timmy today
  • Cat & Casey

Thanks for the welcome. I just got on Dogster to read the Corgi group messages & checked out Sandra's suggestion to see the Corgi video. It is fantastic! I see pictures of Timmy & Kaley there. But, I had to join to vote & leave comments. Not sure if I will have time to get to this site too often too! Sandra has me in almost too many! I am not keeping up with all. I am now on Dog Channel, Dogster, Sansanpals, Flickr & now here plus try to chech Sandra's other sites often too!
  • Cat & Casey

Yes it is a fantastic video! Hehe! Rascal can tell you that I as I watched the video I yelled out "oh there is Timmy & there is Kaley!" Such fun to see my pals all over the internet!
  • Karen & Bailey

Hi Sylvia! Hi Timmy! Thanks Timmy for the four leaf clover on Dogster and the Timmy kisses! We haven't quite mastered that site yet, we're spending too much time here. =P. 3 days to go... =)
  • Karen & Bailey

oo good idea!!! =D i will do that! =D
  • Carol Braitman

Sylvia, Any luck with felting this weekend??? I furminated Augie, got 1/2 a shopping bag full of hair, but, alas, no time to spin or felt....
  • morningstar

i love how your corgi is smiling in most of his pictures! i wish my corgi would smile more!
  • Carol Braitman

Those places are so great. I've done it a couple of times with Augie. Once, the hair was coming out from under the door. I agree, you could do it every day. Augie just had enough, and got up and walked away. I saw a show once on felting on DIY. I really can't remember how they did it. Maybe we need to move on, and find another craft...
  • Karen & Bailey

Thanks Sylvia and Timmy. Well I came home today, and the runny nose is gone. He still had some eye boogers, but we will keep an eye on that to see if it gets worse. He's eating like a champ and playing hard like a ummmmm football player and drinking like theres no tomorrow. It probably was just a scare, but im sure you understand how worried a corgi momma can get. =P i love your timmy's coat. its SO shiny. =D whats the secret? lol
  • Karen & Bailey

unfortunately, i don't work from home (I could on occassion - I need to bring it up with the boss!). =(. I have a friend who stops by for two hours during noon time to play with him while I am at work. =*( I miss him so much.

oo I'll try the pumpkin once his adult coat comes in. =P
  • Tracie & Emmy

Thanks for trying to vote for us! Bummer that it is giving you a hard time! Grrrr.. Maybe it will work tomorrow. :-)
  • Peanut and sarah

  • Susan

    Thanks!
We lost Duke in Sept from hemolytic anemia so I love to watch him on this video!
  • Ellen Andersen

Hi! We think Timmy is so cute. Yeah, we're in Corgi club, too. If you mean the drawing (?), it's by a local artist here on the mountain that does that from any photo (dogs, people, things like that).
  • nancy and daisy

Nice to hear from you Sylvia and Timmy. Daisy thought Timmy was handsome and so do I. She is a real sweet girl and we love her. We live in Windsor in Sonoma county and I am a nurse and married to a cardiac technician I met at the hospital. We both love out pup. She is 15 months old and we got her at 8 weeks.
we will go to the saddle club if it occurs again and we can meet you!
    nancy and daisy
  • Gina and Zak

You could not be more right, she is a bit of a wild child! She keeps us on our toes that is for sure!
Your Timmy is very handsome! Was he wild as well?
  • CORKIE AND KAREN

Hi Sylvia and paws up to Timmy from Corkie. Thanks for the welcome. Have a great weekend.
  • Juel

Thank you for the welcome! I a didn't know there were any breeders locally, thanks for the information. I actually work here in Fortuna as a dispatcher. Maybe we could connect and I could ask you some questions. Thanks again!
  • Juel

I dispatch for the Forest Service, out of the same office though. I grew up in Willow Creek, started fighting fire there when I got hurt I figured if I couldn't go out to fires any more I could at least send others :)
  • Juel

I work for the Forest Service, in the same office though. I grew up in Willow Creek, CA.
  • Myka

Hello Sylvia! I just read the warning up above and am in tears! That is something I have never thought of and I'm so glad you brought it to my attention. Hope you're having a great week and scratch Timmy's belly for Sleven!!
  • Petra Marteus

Hi Sylvia, thanks for your nice words about our Cardigans:)) Yes we live very far from eachother... In Sweden we have some red/white Cardigans and redbrindle. My Frodo got a litter in Finland (we kept Tina) where one of the girls is red/white and the rest of the litter is redbrindle. Here you can see Fizzie the red girl: http://www.kolumbus.fi/geestland/tlitter.htm

Two nice studs from a Swedish kennel is SmultronbackenĀ“s Kummin: http://www.123hjemmeside.no/picture.aspx?id=14468859

And a very beautiful stud SmultronbackenĀ“s Donovan:

Our redbrindle Tina will mate a redbrindle stud i Norway, so we hope for redbrindle and red/white puppies:))

  • Karen & Bailey

thanks! yea he sure does think hes a stud muffin with that waddle of his! =P lol. i was thinking of starting a redhead club. lol. =P hahahahhaha. redheads have way more fun, right! =) hmmm ok time to go take bailey for his shots! =)
  • Tammey & Caven

Thanks, He is a handfull almost all of the time but we would not have any other way. We will be adding more photos as we run across them. He loves having his picture taken. From the other web pages it looks like most orgis are hams. BTW That's a cutie you have.
  • Karen & Bailey

oo yes i read that forum and made sure. the vet has been doing that since his first series, so im glad. no idea why that vet did it in the leg. but yepp bailey got his inbetween the shoulders and some paste in the mouth for roundworms and a tablet for heartworm preventative to be taken in two weeks. he sure is growing up fast, TOO fast. . and he still goes crazy for freeze dried liver. back to normal! like nothing happened (well except im expecting some loose poo - he always has diarrhea for one or two bowel movements, then hes back to normal). =)
  • Claudine

thank you so much for your kind comment! i have a lot of love for my little legged girl and hope to give her a great life!

you and timmy have accomplished a lot! congrats on the CGC and the therapy dog work. i bet you guys bring a lot of smiles to those you visit! :)
  • Juel

Thank you for the Visit! Tell Timmy hello! He was cute in his pictures, but is much more handsome in person!
  • Mandi

Roxy is a total goob. She's very mad right now because Oliver is in my lap and she can't jump up on the couch. Life sucks when your legs are only 4 inches long.

Your two guys are so cute! I love how corgis always look so happy.
  • Mandi

Oliver's such a pushover- not a dominating bone in his body- that Roxy can bully him and he loves it. On Saturday we were doing yardwork and caught the two of them sharing a stick- each chewing on one end at a time. They sleep together, share everything.... very cute.
  • Claudine

small world!! i'm going to be teaching at Brandeis in the fall but Claudine is a Harvard dog, of course - all the corgis i know would for sure be Ivy Leaguers ;)

*Still* chuckling over your mention of "turkey thighs" :)
  • Mandi

Oh, she is so bossy it's hilarious. Imagine two adults, another dog and two cats being completely kept in line at all times by a 6lb puppy....She's a very talkative puppy, too. Voices her opinion on everything.
  • Epinephrine "Epi" and Carly too!

Thanks for commenting on our picture. The picture was staken in Tuolumne County along the river. We set the camera on a tree and threw rocks to make the dogs look before the timer went off! We have lived in Don Pedro for a year. It probably hasn't changed much since you were here (A whole lot of nothin'). We love it here though. You have a beautiful corgi! Maybe we will meet at the next santa rosa gathering! Have a great day.
  • Curt, Griffin and Violet

Hi guys! Thanks for your comment about Zeppelin. I think he's adorable, but that's just me LOL I think Corgis in general are just the most beautiful dogs. You talk about 'red heads'. Are Corgis with all red faces/heads fairly rare? It seems to me that they are, as most Corgis I see have some amount of white on them. By all means, we should start our own little red head group. Works for us!!
  • James

I'm way ahead of you! I'll write about it as soon as I can get him to nap!
  • Megan and Penelope

Thanks for the suggestions they will help. I may ask you some more specifics on the potty situation as I have asked my breeder, and the breeder that suggested her to me when she didn't have any litters planned this year, what they thought and I have different answers from both!
  • Sylvia & Timmy

Thanks, for the friend request. Sure, I'll help any cutie corgi that I can, even if she isn't home yet.
  • Lori

Thanks for your support! I will post pics soon!
  • Karen & Bailey

hi Sylvia! hi timmy! =P yea i cannot believe the heat wave thats hitting us right now. im glad to hear itll finally be back to normal soon. Bailey and I can't take it!!!! Since its been so cold lately, then BAM!!!

hope timmy is loving the ice cubes (if hes allowed heheh), and have a great friday!
  • Karen & Bailey

yay the fog has rolled back into the bay area! woo! i can certainly tell bailey is much more active in this cooooool weather. =D

and thanks for posting a discussion in the redheads group. =P i need to think of more things to talk about that would pertain to the redhead community. =P

thanks again! and oh yea! bailey wanted to tell uncle timmy that he can now bunny hop up any flight of stairs!
