Owned by Mac, CWC, in the suburbs of Philadelphia, but I originally hail from central New Jersey. I'm a sixth grade teacher in whose hands the fate of the next generation has been entrusted. I teach a lot of math and a little bit of social studies. It's been terrifying...but celebrating Pi Day and listening to parodies of "Mary had a Little Lamb" about bar graphs have been fun. I graduated from Villanova University in 2006, summa cum laude, with a communication degree and certification in elementary education; I also got myself a concentration in the Honors Program and a minor in Spanish, but I usually leave those off lest I fully reveal my complete and utter nerdiness too quickly. I've also begun (say this three times fast!) my Master's Degree in Elementary Education with an Area of Focused Inquiry in Culturally Responsive Education from West Chester University. When I'm not grading homework or writing papers, I enjoy saying stupid things in a high-pitched squeal to Mac, who proudly serves as a practice child to my fiance, Colin, and me. I'm serious regarding lots of things, silly regarding even more, and, as a warning, verbose. Hobbies include school...the one where I teach and the one where I learn (again, I'm a nerd); training, playing with, and generally obsessing over Mac; devouring books at an unhealthy rate on the rare occasion that I get to read for pleasure; being an old (practically) married lady; shopping; cooking; attempting to live in the Villanova Honors Office; theater, art, and music appreciation; pretending I know more about computers than I really do; and staying young by spending time with kids.
Faeriesteed Think Different, CGC (aka Mac) is a black and white fluffy Cardigan with brindle points. His birthday was March 28, 2007, which makes him two years old! He came to us from a breeder in North Carolina via another online forum that we belong to; we had originally planned on getting a puppy from another, more geographically appropriate breeder, but when that litter fell through, a friend we had made on the above Corgi forum revealed herself to be the sister of a fairly well-known show breeder who currently had a week and a half old black and white baby in her dining room, did we want him? (Our answer was a resounding "YES!") Mac, named after the computer, has been a joy ever since. He enjoys sleeping, eating, going to puppy class at What a Good Dog in Wayne, taking trips to PetSmart to get his nails trimmed (what an atypical Corgi, I know!), frapping around the house with any of his multitude of squeaky toys, and leaving his Nylabones in strategic places to that his unwitting owners will trip over them. He's also a fan of long walks around the neighborhood, especially to Braxton's Animal Works, which is the yummiest-smelling place ever. Mostly, though, he loves making new friends and looking cute.
Heather, Thanks for the add!
You're right here in Philly...we should have a round up - there are a few others, too. I actually live in Ardmore, and I know where Braxton's is...I've never seen a fluffy cardi before, he's quite a handsome lad.
Thank you for the comment and friend invite! GoCorgi was the first forum I found when I got Charlie. It does seem to be a "combat ground" sometimes as the moderator is not very "moderate". LOL Another member suggested cool2bcorgi. If I joined another forum, no work would ever be done! :)
Mac sure is handsome. I'm thinking about adding a Cardigan next summer when Charlie is 2 yrs. It'd be fun to have one of each breed.
I have never seen a fluffy cardi and boy, your Mac sure is cute! He's fluffier than most fluffies I know and that big swoopy tail is just the icing on the cake! Is he named for the computer? We're Mac people - as you can see from our picture of Hoogie trying to get us to log off so we can play fetch. Loved the videos!
Hi Heather! I am also a faeristeed kennel recipient-When I saw the picture of Mac I immediatley thought he was related to my Abigail. They look so much alike-Her birthday is May 10 2007. She is such a good girl and a pure joy as are all my dogs. Small world! Great dogs from Robin. I was only able to get her because she did not have both eyes black-a color fault which afforded me the oppurtunity to be her mom. Your Mac is a doll. We are in Georgia-worth the drive. Linda
Hi Heather! I thought I sent a comment but it looks as if it did not take. I have a faeristeed corgi as well-born May 10, 2007. What a joy she has been. Her name is Abigail and the first time I held her I felt such a peaceful spirit within her. She has what they call a color fault-one eye is black the other white. I traveled from conyers Ga. to get her. So worth the trip-Faeristeed puts out the best tempermant---great dogs! My 2 pemmies are from near my home and I love all my dogs-I saw your picture of Mac on the member page and thought he looked familiar. What a small world-----Linda
Hi Heather, I picked Abby up at a show as well-Robin had emailed me pictures and I fell in love with her instantly. Prior to Abby, all my experainaces were with pembrokes. Abby is a happy addition to our home-I will have to look up her akc name as my memory is awful. I will get back soon.
Hi Heather! It would be alot of fun to bring the two togeather and meet you guys. It is a long way but you never know where the future will take you. I am trying to get some more recent photos of the all of the dogs, especially with Abby's birthday this weekend. I will post them as soon as we have them. She is a small cardigan----about 29lbs. She is very long. In fact when she runs she jumps and leaps across the yard-we have had several visits to the vet for sprained knees-does Mac run and leap with glee? I wonder if they have the same father? I will get the papers out this weekend.
a party sounds like such fun but I have not planned one for Abby. I will actually be working on her birthday. I will be making her a special dinner with her sisters and brother. Maybe a party hat and some new toys-she loves toys. The name fof Macs father does not sound familiar. I will have to look at the papers-I will let you know for sure. I will probably contact Debbie later-I would enjoy talking to her.
Hi Kim and Mia! Mac is doing well! He feels terrible that he hasn't been able to make it to a single meetup since the first one...he keeps being busy with other things on the weekends :) How's Mia?
We haven't been able to make another visit either, its just been out of control busy. Mia is doing great now that the weather is nicer. She's enjoying laying out in the sun and helping with yard work. I saw the video of Mac and the windshield wipers...hilarious!
Oh I can assure you that I was not the one that shaved him. The groomer wanted to "trim" him down for summer..well when I picked him up he didnt even look like the same little guy. I cried for three days straight. Luckily his hair is almost all grown back, but I have learned my lesson on not going back to that same groomer!
Mac is so cute! Regis is also from North Carolina! What breeder did you get him from? And their birthdays are so close! Regis was born a day before Mac! He is so dariling, I love his long hair!
Oh I haven't even heard of her! I will definitely look into it, as I would love another blue merle Cardigan(hopefully show prospect) in 1 & 1/2 to 2 years from now, and the breeder I got Regis from no longer breeds. Her name is Patricia Sawtelle. She also is wonderful! I have been in contact with her the whole time, such a great lady! She's also going to help me find a blue merle pup when the time comes :) Anyway, I will bookmark her website and contact her when it comes closer to "time" for my 2nd Cardi :) Are you planning on another?
I did not read your profile info..was unsure if your baby was a boy or girl until i saw the picture with the remote then i knew it had to be a boy lol! He really is very handsome.
