About My Corgi(s):
Sidney is our first purebred corgi and we are thrilled to have him. He was born 7/11/07. We planned to start him in agility training, but there was a long waiting list. So while waiting for an opening, we took classes for therapy dog training. As it turns out, he's a pretty good therapy dog, so we stuck with that and never got around to agility. Now he is training as a Rally dog. We love it! He's one smart little character! Oh, and he's undocked, so his beautiful tail attracts a lot of attention - good attention.

On August 30th, Sidney suddenly came up lame in his hind left leg. The next day we got xrays for him and found out he has severe hip dysplasia. On Sept 7th he had a Femoral Head Ostectomy to relieve the pain. His right hip is not in great shape either but we're hoping that with glucosamine supplements and exercise we can keep it healthy. *Update* You would never know Sid has surgery now. He moves beautifully. The water therapy and supplements have worked wonders.

Bruce is our corgi/elkhound (?) mix. We rescued him from the brink of euthanasia when he was approximately 10-11 years old (he had a day or two left to go). He's about 16 now and his only sign of his advanced age are bad teeth and slow mornings. I adore Brucie and he worships me. He's my funny short angel with a puffball tail (thanks to the elkhound side). He's about 18 now and going strong.

Chester is our "tall dog". He's a black dane/lab mix that we got from a "free to good home" ad in the local newspaper. He's also old, about 15 years old. We know his age because we've had him 14 years, and he was an adult when we brought him home! He's a very serious dog and not very affectionate compared to the corgis, but he has been a very good dog, just aloof. We can't take Chester as many places as the shorties because he does not travel well. He's almost 17 now and has definitely slowed down. *UPDATE* Chester had a sudden decline and was sent to the bridge on April 15th 2013 at the age of 17.

In February 2013 we added Connie to our family. She's a little tri corgi who was picked up as a stray and put up for adoption at our local Humane Society. She's a real sweet girl and loves to play ball. She's learning a lot from Sidney about life here. We can't believe that her family never came to claim her. She's got good manners and she gets along well with the other dogs and the cats, and everyone she meets is her best friend.

And the pack grows! In November we took in a black-headed tri who we named Copper. He and Connie were both born in 2009 and they are great buddies and a ball-chasing tag team. Copper is sweet and cuddly and eager to please.

thanks for the welcome! At first miko was not very happy about the move to the desert, but she has taken to it very well. We try to get her up in Sedona where it is much cooler as often as we can, and occasionally treat her to a trip to California. She gets frustrated that she can only be walked very early mornings and nights (which are increasingly becoming warmer). Surprisingly, there is a very nice dog park with 30+ well behaved dogs and dog owners per evening and enough grass to remind her of home, so she's loving that.

Her name is Shasta. A hyper little thing, never had a corgi before. Have 9 cats and 2 birds this is only my 3rd dog my whole life. Our last dog died of cancer at the age of 13 and it has taken 3 years, but as soon as I seen her and her negative situation I could not leave her. She is slowly getting un-skid dish but it will take a lot of love and patients I know that. Your pups are adorable.

This has nothing to do with the dogs but do you know how to add the playlist to this site I can not figure it out. Thank You.

HI Geri and Sidney we kept feeling a big bulge in his side so at his next visit to the vet I ask her and she could move his liver all around..his test results came back neg. but I am still not sure what to do. He is a very active little man and we have gotten him a friend so they play all the time.

Thank you for the welcome! Kayden is the pup's name. He is now 6 months old. He is very headstrong and very sassy. Not sure if this is a corgi trait or did I just luck out? LOL. Sidney is very handsome! :)

I do have tattoo portraits of shelby and patch and a fairy riding a corgi silhoutte. I will eventually get a portrait of duece and a sugar (dog) skull for dudley to add to my day of the dead piece.

Thank you. You must very proud of Sidney. My husband was in the hospital for four months before he passed away in Dec.2007. I had scheduled a Therapy Dog visit but it was too late. When I decided it was time to get another dog I wanted a big dog, but I can't RUN around the show ring anymore. I wanted something my Ibizan hound could play with, and I wanted a dog appropriate for a Therapy Dog program. After a lot of research, A CORGI! Perfect for what I wanted! And he hasn't dissappointed me. I can't wait until he's old enough to get him going in the program. Keep me posted on beautiful Sidney.

    Thanks for the welcome.
  • Jenn

Thanks, I'm pretty excited about him. His current owners need to give him up, and it turns out he has the same parents as my little Dakota! He is from the litter before her. They just spent the weekend together and it looks like things will work out!

    Hi Geri and Sidney,

A message from Ein and me:
    Happy Barkday Sidney!

  • Jenn

Wow, the undocked tail is beautiful!
  • Jenn

I didn't know they were born with tails at all until just recently! I guess some are actually born with "docked" tails? That is what I have read and I guess my Dakota was born with her stubby tail because her breeder said she wasn't docked. So go figure. you learn something new every day!
  • Alyssa & Chris W.

Thanks so much for the information about the fireflies. I had no idea that they were so harmful. I truly appreciate it.
  • Fumiko, Greg, and Ben

Thanks, Yeah we are looking foreword to the big day. We are moving right now so we have other distractions right now but the excitement level is there. We are also first time puppy owners. I have had dogs before but never a puppy, and she has never had a pet before so we are buying our books and learning how to be good owners.

Thanks for your post, Geri and Sidney. Marley is a super awesome dog. Let me know if you hear of anyone looking. I have contacted several corgi meetup groups and rescue groups to try to place Marley. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can find a good home for him.

    Hi,
Thank you so much for the Corgi Mtg info. I was informed about it, but the guy didn't know much about it, he has a lab mix. I was going to try to search the internet, but thanks to you, I probably saved myself a lot of time!
I'll check out the site! Do you think I can bring Chloe at this age, she hasn't had her last set of shots yet, she's about 14 weeks old.

  • Debbie and her pup Kato

Thanks for the welcome :D! My favorite cosplay is being Videl from DBZ. It's so much fun being in character when cosplaying her. I have also been Hotarubi from Basilisk and an Anbu from Naruto. Im suprised there is even a Cowboy Bebop group on this site. So many people named their corgi Ein lol. Sidney is adorable! Wish there were more ppl with corgis where I live.

This is Brutis my entire life!!! He allows me to live with him, and keeps me in line. He is 1 1/2 years old and on the go 24/7. What is your babies name and age? Love the pix!
  • Goat

    hello. thanks for the comment.
i've tried both frontline and advantage with no results :c
i've tried many things and i listed a few over here: http://www.mycorgi.com/group/corgiswithallergies
i have also tried the inflatable collar. it worked for a while until shiba found a way to bite with it on and she eventually found out how to take it off. so now shes with the normal plastic cone. she can still reach her hind legs but at least she cant reach other areas.
i was recommended using the comfortis tablet and i think i'm going to have to give it a try.
