I'm a college graduate with a BA in English. I moved to North Carolina this past summer. I live with my boyfriend (who's attending Duke University), two abyssinian guinea pigs (Gimlet and Guinness), and my Pembroke Ofelia.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Ofelia (aka Oafie, Oafers, Oafish, Tasmanian Devil, or Dr. Goosepoop) is my tricolor PWC puppy. She's extremely independent, and she loves to herd my niece and nephews. She's also very loyal and takes pride in guarding the apartment. I'd like to start her in herding, to keep her busy and happy. She's a free-thinking dog, and I encourage that. We're making great progress lately with her obedience. I'm a first time dog owner, and I'm looking forward to the next ten plus years with Ofie.
Stats:
Age: 1 year Weight: 25 pounds Color: tri with a red mask Spayed?: Yes other physical traits: natural bobtail Diet: 2/3 cup of ProPlan adult twice a day; also likes bananas Exercise: 2 daily walks; a jog here and there; loves trail hiking Bad habits: eats rabbit and goose poop - won't touch dog poop though; loves to roll in dead worms and bird poop on the sidewalk; barks when the neighbors make too much noise Funny habits: lets out little protest barks through a closed mouth when we tell her not to bark at things; looks at you as if you're the one in the way when you trip over her; moves away with a grunt if you sit on her foot Quirks: slight allergy to our guinea pigs (seems to be subsiding, though); bites her paws; licks herself after coming in after every pee; tries to hide her bones in my pajama pants (while I'm wearing them); looks at us impatiently if we stay up too late Best Friends: Duke (aw, she misses him) and Mack
Thank you for your kind comments. And Sidney's tail was a bonus, as we had no idea when we went to see him that corgis even had tails. He looks like a little fox, hee hee!
Whisper's herding experience has just been at home and coming from natural born instinct. She taught our peekapoo to herd and also, started my sisters australian shepherd male that she bought for agility. She's still quite the athlete at her age but she still enjoys a good challenge (i.e, the fiberglass horse at the tack store - don't you people realize there is a horse running loose!)
Well right now, she's had her share of tater tots and is crashed behind my desk at work. We've had a long weekend of puppy sitting for one of the bosses and didn't get much sleep, so she's going to catch up, even if I don't!
Well she only gets to come with me when the building manager isn't here but she enjoys it. I can't tell we haven't had good sleep though because she is so dead out that she's snoring!
I have some good ones I'll be adding. I'm new to this so I'm still figuring out how to respond to people's comments & add friends, etc. I'm not especially computer savvy! Ofelia is a cutie!
Thanks Mariana. Ofelia resembles Roscoe quite a bit with the little "Eddie Munster" mask! He does have a white "fairy saddle or harness" across the back of his neck. He does okay considering all his problems. He's my joy since my kids are grown and don't want cuddling ha! Your baby is pretty, you will have lots of fun with her. Take care.
Thanks! The biggest reward is seeing how happy Pimms is now and how much he enjoys life, though he still hankers for all the Thai food that got him so fat in the first place - his previous clueless owners owned a Thai restaurant, hence no exercise and HEAPS of left overs.
We loved looking at Ofelia's puppy photos, especially as she is a tri-colour too!
Hello Mariana...your little tri girl has a very uncanny resemblence to my Baron and in his pedigree are natural bobtails as well. I'm wondering if the pedigree is similar or are they distant relatives. I got Baron from Sandy Johnson in Illinois but wondering if the breeder you got your little girl from has breeding stock from Sandy. Anyways..she is very cute and saw her picture on a friends profile and had to peek just a tad further. LOL
Thank you! I see more in their resemblence then the red mask. Its the face structure..ear set..markings..the way she sets her paws..her stack. They are very similar. Caught my eye immediately and had to see more of her.
I'm interested in learning more about herding but to be honest I am not planning on doing it myself but who knows what the future holds. Two of my females would be awesome at it and possibly another female of mine but what I may see in the yard could be totally differant when it came to the sport.
Even if you can't afford to do it weekly do it as often as you can afford anyways..these are the imprinting stages and you'll be amazed at what she will remember and it won't get boring for her. Its something to think about.
Thank you! Ofelia is so cute! I have also recently started taking Boomer to the dog park. She does well too, although it's funny because when we go for walks on the leash she barks at every dog in sight, but doesn't do that in the dog park. I like it when there are littler dogs there too! : )
Thank you Mariana for the warm welcome. I apologize for taking so long to respond back to your comment. I'm really proud that Jared researched exactly what kind of companion he wanted when he asked for Bandit. We have been bringing up baby "Bandit" and he requires full time attention but he is definitely worth every minute. Your puppy Ofelia is beautiful. You have some wonderful pictures of her.
Thanks for the welcome! I have been looking online hope to find something soon :o) I real think Zero would do well and it would def get some of that energy he has so much of out! Lol :o)
Let us know how the herding goes! I tried it with Bernie and it didn't work out (no focus but it might have been baby-dog stuff). She loved eating the sheep poop though. I think her favorite was the duck herding. Get pictures!
Thanks for the response to my Discussion questions. I saw that you're living in NC. I actually just moved to Cali from NC I lived there since I was born and Tucker was actually born there! Your little one is too cute. She has alot of the same characteristics as my little man! And BTW GO DUKE!!!!!
