Yeah I've been wanting one so bad since I was younger. But you know especially during school, you dont really have much time during the day to spend with your pets. So i kinda put off having one as it wouldn't be fair you know?
But I'm in uni now, not much contact hours so should be better =)

Just very difficult to find breeders in Perth though! We're sooo in the middle of no where!
  • Owen's Mom

He's had two vaccinations and we are go around the block on the concrete. Grass is a no no.. There aren't many stray dogs in our area. But nervous mommy me confirmed that at the last vet appointment. No parks or dog parks yet..

    Hi JollieEllie,
Tigger is a lot like Bailey because he doesn't like Molly getting attention...he will try to get in between Me and Molly and he wants attention first. When I give them attention together, I make them be side by side or on the other side of me. When I give them one on one attention and he tries to interrupt, I make him move away or lay down beside me so poor Molly can have some alone time. Molly is having a hard time adjusting to having to share attention. But since I crate Tigger at night and during the day, she gets her own alone time and he gets quiet time- and now he goes into the crate on his own. Molly is a fun sucker outer in play time. She just doesn't get it...I think it is because she didn't learn how to play with her original family. So she just runs and chases Tigger and tries to make him stop playing if they get too rough they do start fighting so I have to stop them before they get to that point. They are not good sharers yet- but they are great on walks together!

I am sure that Bailey and Truffle will get better- part of it is probably the age difference and another part is boy vs. girl thing! Bailey must have a stronger herding instinct!
  • Cheryl

Is it just me or do Corgi's take the BEST pictures ever? I think they see a camera and hear "strike a pose" in the background. I can't take a bad picture of Miss Em's. Your corgi's are very photogenic!
  • Sam Tsang

    Welcome JollieEllie, Truffle and Bailey!
  • chocky

there's a forrestdale about 20mins from me, whats the postcode do you know?
  • Gizmo

Because he will finish with in an hour ~ started rate was 1 week (~very good to keep him occupied) and had been developed shorter, he doesn't have it now.
The way he worked was licking until the knot getting soft; he gagged a little bit~He drink a lot water after that.
The other reasons we don't buy him anymore are that, It’s a bag of 10 for $13 ~ too expensive for an hour treat~ and he is over weight.
How's Bailey,he behaves better with his sister?Don't forget to take a lot pictures.
  • Gizmo

Truffle&Bailey look smaller than Gizmo(46 lbs),bones should last longer. :) Actually,it's good for cleanning their tooth.
Beiley;naughty boy; tries to communicate with you,he wants his own house.
When we did crate-training,we gave Gizmo a small crate space just for only he can turn around, take him out to the only area he can do business from time to time and keep him in crate till he understand the process. Constrain by the space,so he won't poop coz he doesn't want to sleep on his own feces.
Once we wanted to see what'll happen if Gizmo stay with Rex over night, in the morning we found his poop all over Rex's house,~ after trained Gizmo never do in his house~, as Bailey did with Truffle's. This is why I assume that Mr.Bailey wants his own house.
Gizmo does shake hand trick 2 days ago, for first time, that was inspired by Zod's video. He learn fast! Amazing! We did not serious to teach him more tricks than sit and lay down trick.
From now on he will do more..;)
  • Gizmo

    Oh..We got 2 dogs coz..
    1. Over heard sb said at the dogs park.."2 dogs is more fun".
2.Too tired to entertain the dog ~couldn't run all day.
    3. Feel sorry with the dog.. "oh.. he's lonesome when we're not home"
and 4. The second dog (unwanted from previous owner) sat in front of us, need home and soo cute.
At the time we made decision, we forgot the circumstances!! What else?
  • Cheryl

I tell her all the time "it's a good thing you are so cute!" LOL... Cuteness as a weapon! You got that right!
  • Gizmo

Yes,"BANG" ad "SPEAK" will be Gizmo's lesson next, but how to tell him speak?? He only barks when he wants to.
Still having problem ,he'll do tricks when he's sure(see it,smell it) that he will certainly get yummy treats.
  • Gizmo

I got sore throat, I bark all day..Gizmo no speak..
  • Owen's Mom

haha... owen chews on everything... leash (even with bitter spray), trees, sticks, sometimes his kong! most of the time things I would rather not end up in his mouth.. he is also barking.. alot.. :)
  • Renae & Mark

Thanks. Rupert's tail is a natural bob. Its no longer than 15cm I guess. He wasn't keen on the ruler going near his tail, perhaps its a bit like the thermometer at the Vet's?!

Rupert won't be taking part in the wedding but I'll sneak a picture in with him before going to the church!
  • Chris

That is our horse show friend B.B., she actually belongs to my boss as does the pugle (Rudy) and the minpin (Duncan). The toy horse is a back pack that she takes to horse shows with her snacks in it. This picture was taken about 11:30 one night after we had been at the show since 5am. She got up on the bleachers and said I don't care whats happening, I'm got to have my beauty sleep!
  • Gizmo

Hello Master Truffle..good news!..Giz does BANG..soo funny, coz his heavy weight,he makes noise everytimes he(really) fall on his side...Speak"" ,we still working on it, may be my " Woof" not sound alike,I 'll make my husband to do that,he's home from the trip this weekend.
    What's new with Bailey?
  • Florence

Thank you for the friend invite !
Your 2 babies are so so cute !!!
    I like black head Pems.
2 is good isn't it ? I hesitated before to add Uyanga to the family, but did the good choice, she's a perfect "little" sister to Nana !
  • Gizmo

I finished the Video as your request.
Agian, I use your picture for the story, hope you don't mind.
  • Florence

Uyanga's name is neither French or Japanese, but...Mongolian !
She had to have a name begining by an U because of the year she was born (I don't know if you fave the same system in the Australia ?), the breeder asked me to choose, and I named her after one of my student (I teach French) who was a mongolian, a very pretty and intelligent girl whose name was Uyanga ! It means melody, or music in Mongolian...

I hope your 2 will be soon a good team like mine !
Who is the "Big Boss", Truffle or Bailey ? But Bailey is may be too young to tell...
  • Katie

How are the two happiest corgis in Sydney? Molly and Tig say "HI!"
  • Florence

    Thank you for Uyanga !
In France, usualy, dogs with a pedigree have a "real name" on the paper, begining by the letter of the year they were born, but the "calling name" (am I right ?) is different, you can choose what you want. But Uyanga is Uyanga everywhere, on the paper, and in the life !
And yes, when Bailey will be a bit older, they will decide wich is the Big Boss ! It's good if Truffle isn't a dominant because Bailey can be the boss if he wants too...
For us, I really worried a lot because Nana is a dominant, so, if Uyanga was also a dominant, wow........and Uyanga came from France, impossible to ask the breeder to help ! But Uyanga is really really a peaceful girl, she only thinks about playing, watching tv (yes !)... she never had any fight with any other dog, I think she doesn't understand what a fight is ! ;0))
  • Katie

    Hi JollieEllie!

Uh-Oh! Sounds like you had a long weekend too! I don't know who is worse off- Bailey or Truffle!?!?! Puppies take patience, don't they? Thank dog they are cute! My dogs were walking a thin line as well- I was testing Tigger this weekend out of the kennel alone during the day for a few hours at a time, but he isn't up to it yet. Everytime I came home, I came back to an accident. And he has discovered the cat box! AAACK! We had to have a discussion about that one. Since Molly hasn't been out to the barn, she has been going crazy- running the fence line and barking. I told her she should know better, but she just gave me a dirty look. I had to have a glass of wine! Corgis driving me to drink!
  • Bobbi Jo McClure

Yes, Scooter pants is now a sea dog. He was terrified of the water for 2 yrs. We got the boat and now he loves the water! My nickname for him is Baby Pants-my husband calls him Scooter for short. You are so lucky to have 2 corgis, Scooter doesn't want a brother or sister. Your babies are precious. Don't you just love the way they lay by the windows like cats? It's really amaizing for me to hear from Australia. And all because of corgis!
  • Katie

No, I haven't blogged on how I got Tigger, but that is a good idea. It is similar to how I got Molly too. Guess I know what I am doing later today!
  • Katie

ooh, more pics of Bailey and Truff- fun!
  • JENNY & COBY

Hi ^^ Coby is very friendly with doggie siblings (My cousin's dogs: Husky, Shi-Poo and pomeranian) But he is little bit shy~ at the dog park, he needs time to get along with others
  • Florence

    hello JollieEllie,
Uyanga's favorite shows are baseball and sumo, and also programs with dogs, ar any animal, but she watches really all the programs: news, films....she's unique !
    I'll upload some videos.
And yes, Nana looks younger than she is ! Because of Uyanga may be, she always want to win in everything, to be faster, better than Uyanga. But Uyanga doesn't mind at all, she only thinks what she can do to play, play, play !
I'll look if I can find some pics of Nana when she was a pup to show you, her head was very black and still a little black now.
I like very much black head Pems ! And your icon is really cute....adorable expression !
  • Gizmo

    Hello JollieEllie,
    Check out the Video.
I made Vietnamese noodle soup yesterday.
I am very impressed that you can cook Thai food.
The new pictures show that Truffle and Bailley are happy buddies. Sooo cute.
    Do they swim?

That's right about Bailey,I bet he will get a bigger smile there at the vineyard.Looking forward to see pictures, they are so cute should have a lot more pictures post here...and Video
There is not much exciting in San Antonio now, it's very hot and Gizmo doesn't like that ,he would pant a lot if he stay too long outside.
  • Florence

    Hi JollieEllie,
I used to speak to Nana only in Japanese because I've never had a dog in France, and I attended obedience classses at Miyagi Police Dogs academy here ! But for Uyanga who was born in France, we found that she would come quicker when we call her in French ! Now, I use a bit both to both of my Corgis.
In the future, I don't know if we'll stay in Japan or go to France....we'll see when our daughter will be really independant !
For the icon, I took this photo when Uyanga just came at home, now, they would just run together to play ! lol
Did you asked for a tri to your breeder ?
  • Florence

Hi JollieEllie ! (good morning for me...and for you too may be in Australia ?)
For the language, I think the age is quite important: at 10, Nana understands really EVERYTHING about - going to a walk- and -food, treats- !!!
So many different ways to say, but may be, she feels when it's something she's interested in....we always laught with my husband because it's impossible to hide anything to her when it's in relation with walks and food....terrible Nana.
Uyanga has may be a French accent when she barks ! lol

Oh, for the tail, Australia followed Europe ! At Uyanga's breeder in France, all the pems have their tails, I hope this will come to Japan in the future....Nana's tail would have been gorgeous I gess !!!
In the US too, Pems don't have tails I think...
  • chocky

yeah its ok ... we found a reputable breeder but they won't have puppies until december.

man your photos are soooo cute =)
i'm gonna send them to my bf - so he still wants one too haha
  • Cagney & Lacey & Chapin

OMG Truffle is soooo cute. So is Bailey but I do have a weakness for tris!

Are yours Cardis or Pems with tails?
  • Trice

Your dogs are gorgeous. I am so in love with my puppy and am considering getting a second one. I can't wait for him to be complete with his vaccinations so I can take him to the beach!
  • HouseMouseHollow

I love your Corgi pics! The sideview shot of your black tri is fabulous-what a comical look in your pup's eye. Thanks for sharing your wonderful dogs with us and for being a Corgi friend. I'm off to prepare the house for our newest fluffy pup arrival. He was just living in a hot lil dog shelter in the middle of the desert on the other side of the country and now he's on a plane about to land two hours from now to live a great life in the country with the rest of my crew. :) I've got lots to do to finish preparing so I've gotta run. Take care. Karen
  • Randy & John

They are adorable Corgis....looks like they have a lot of fun together. :)
  • Geri & Sidney

    Hello from sunny San Diego!

    Your dogs are so beautiful!
I really enjoy seeing Pems with tails. Our Sidney is a rare American Pem with a tail and I just love it. Congratulations on your two wonderful happy corgis.
  • Alla

Thanks for a nice comment! Truffle and Bailey are so adorable! I love the pictures!
  • Geri & Sidney

Hello again! Thank you for telling Sidney he is handsome; he likes to hear it! He does get a lot of attention for that tail. Many people don't realize that he IS pure corgi!
I did not make the cake, but we have a fancy dog store here that makes them. However, now I have a doggie treat cookbook, so I'll make his next year!
  • Geri & Sidney

You are so nice! Here, many people think corgis are born without tails, so they see his tail and wonder what he is mixed with! We explain to them how corgis are usually born with tails. Sid is a great educator.
I love seeing that tail furiously wagging when we come home, and when we pet him it's fun to just stroke that long fluffy tail :-)
  • Geri & Sidney

I just had to tell you; after our conversation here today, we took Sidney to drop-in obedience class. A nice lady came up to us and said "seeing your cardi sure makes me miss the one I used to have". My daughter and I shared a knowing look and then she told the lady "actually, he's an undocked Pembroke". The lady...a former corgi owner...said "I didn't know they docked their tails!" So Sidney continues his work at educating the public, LOL!
  • Randy & John

Marty is 6 and Chipper (female) is 8. Chip definitely is the alpha dog. Marty acts like the Sheriff is in town, but Chipper rules. We call her the Queen. :)
  • Kylie Chen

    They are so pretty!
  • Sam

First I would ask if Bailey is yet neutered? At this age he is really spreading his wings and will push the limit for a time. Knowing whether they are playing for fighting would be helpful. From your description it sounds as if it starts out as play and then crosses the line into a battle. When people express an interest to get a companion for their current dog I always explain that most dogs are happy being only dogs and that they should only consider another if THEY want one. With a baby coming soon I suspect you have not really had the time to provide the appropriate exercise nor taken a training class. I think both would be very helpful to you. With a baby on the way I would start very soon. It will be difficult to be a new mom and have to constantly monitor fighting with dogs.
  • Sam

Sounds like Truffle just doesnt wish to tolerate his advances and he is bold enough not to give up. Sounds like he is a bit of a dominant fellow to engage in such a way with an adult female. Perhaps Truffle does not get her point across as well as some other dogs do. Sounds like they start off with play, Bailey crosses the line, Truffle tries to admonish him then he retaliates in a serious manner. May well be a personality conflict. It may be that you need to manage the interaction more closely and learn to see when the play turns in to fighting. I think more exercise would help Bailey as well as controlled play time. This would be things such as playing ball and adding some obedience to the play. Teach him to drop the ball at your feet. Make him sit or down prior to throwing the ball again. Give him some sort of command before you do anything for him....such as sit/down/shake or whatever he knows. Teach him so new commands. Earning more control/respect as well as expending the energies may also help you manage his interactions with Truffle. Good luck!
  • chocky

hey sorry haven't msged back in a while.. haha
yeah i just got my corgi puppy =) her name is hachiko =)
got it from the breeder i was talking about before.

she's about 8 weeks.. very quiet but still playful.
    sleeps a lot too.. lol

do u have any tips on toilet training and things like that?
  • chocky

Hachiko is Japan's version of Lassie. Something like that... lol

I didn't buy a crate.. i just got a baby fence from my friend (who has dogs but left perth) and i fenced the Laundry room. one part is for her to sleep, and the other part is newspaper.

The first 2 days was hell ! she pooped and peed everywhere (mistake for letting her roam a bit too freely and not watching her every move.) but after that i kept her in the laundry room more, and let her outside more often.

She's pretty good now (even after just under a week) she poops and pees mainly on the newspaper and she does her business whenever she's outside. =)
  • chocky

Oh btw.. Happy New Years =))
