I have three teenage kids and I just love being a Mom to a Corgi also! I live in sunny Southern California with the three kids, three dogs, two cats and a most wonderful husband.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Sidney is our first purebred corgi and we are thrilled to have him. He was born 7/11/07. We planned to start him in agility training, but there was a long waiting list. So while waiting for an opening, we took classes for therapy dog training. As it turns out, he's a pretty good therapy dog, so we stuck with that and never got around to agility. Now he is training as a Rally dog. We love it! He's one smart little character! Oh, and he's undocked, so his beautiful tail attracts a lot of attention - good attention.
On August 30th, Sidney suddenly came up lame in his hind left leg. The next day we got xrays for him and found out he has severe hip dysplasia. On Sept 7th he had a Femoral Head Ostectomy to relieve the pain. His right hip is not in great shape either but we're hoping that with glucosamine supplements and exercise we can keep it healthy. *Update* You would never know Sid has surgery now. He moves beautifully. The water therapy and supplements have worked wonders.
Bruce is our corgi/elkhound (?) mix. We rescued him from the brink of euthanasia when he was approximately 10-11 years old (he had a day or two left to go). He's about 16 now and his only sign of his advanced age are bad teeth and slow mornings. I adore Brucie and he worships me. He's my funny short angel with a puffball tail (thanks to the elkhound side). He's about 18 now and going strong.
Chester is our "tall dog". He's a black dane/lab mix that we got from a "free to good home" ad in the local newspaper. He's also old, about 15 years old. We know his age because we've had him 14 years, and he was an adult when we brought him home! He's a very serious dog and not very affectionate compared to the corgis, but he has been a very good dog, just aloof. We can't take Chester as many places as the shorties because he does not travel well. He's almost 17 now and has definitely slowed down. *UPDATE* Chester had a sudden decline and was sent to the bridge on April 15th 2013 at the age of 17.
In February 2013 we added Connie to our family. She's a little tri corgi who was picked up as a stray and put up for adoption at our local Humane Society. She's a real sweet girl and loves to play ball. She's learning a lot from Sidney about life here. We can't believe that her family never came to claim her. She's got good manners and she gets along well with the other dogs and the cats, and everyone she meets is her best friend.
And the pack grows! In November we took in a black-headed tri who we named Copper. He and Connie were both born in 2009 and they are great buddies and a ball-chasing tag team. Copper is sweet and cuddly and eager to please.
Well this little communicative girl is a first for me. All the others have been on a bark need only basis. She talks in her sleep, for normal dog things and then to the cats, her other dog friends everyone. Funny, she has a lower "inside voice" I am working on her with, but she just loves to talk to everyone all the time. Sue
Thanks Geri and Sidney. I have had to the vet and he has given her Prednisone. This worked great at first but is now loosing its affect. I am afraid that this is a Corgi specific problem that he mightb not be aware of.
thanks for the welcome. I've been lurking here for a while and decided to join. So fun to see al lthe other corgi pix! I"ve got a red and white and a sable and white and am awaiting a litter to add a third to the pack.
That's a fine looking doggie crew you've got there. Side note: Long ago ('60s) I spent my teen years in Escondido and moved to Vista in 1970. Lovely area but a little more crowded now.
Hi, and thanks for the welcome. My Corgis name is Little Buddy. He follows me like Marys little lamb. I'll try to upload a pic of him. He's 18mo. old. I'm new at this and need to figure out how to get the pic from my file to this site. I'll try.
Thank you! They are super cute - I can't even get mad at Faye when she's up to no good. ;) Sidney is very cute too! I have never seen an undocked Pembroke before!
Thanks for the welcome! I know how you feel, my 4 Pembroke's with tails get called Cardigans almost every time we go in town lol! I finally got some pics up of my un-docked pems if ya get the chance to see em.
Nyx is the black girl, Marley is one of the tan and white ones in my profile picture ans their father is the tan with the white stripe down his face :) His name is Sgt. To me Sgt looks like you Sidney :) very cute by the way! Love your pics!
They really truly do! And trust me it gets confusing when you are trying to catch one and the only one that won't come is the one you want lol! House full of 7 dogs total and 5 are Corgi's so yeah its a handful. Sgt and Sidney really do look alike! I would say they are related if you lived closer lol but doubtful. Its kinda cool though cause we have never found a Corgi that looks like Sgt, he was always one of a kind.
Thanks, he is a SHE.........but I thought the marking were unusual too......the black on her left side is also on the bottom of her paws.
your babes are cute too...........thanks for the welcome!!!
THANK YOU. Abbey and I are no doubt in love with one another. Since I last joined Corgi.com, I discovered that I have Stage III breast cancer. I cannot tell you how much this little baby means to me. She has truly become my very best friend. I just don't know what I would do without her!!!
Thank you for the welcome! Lately I have really been into WoW. My husband and I both play. I also really like RPG's like Final Fantasy and Castlevania. My hubby plays a lot of games too. He'll pretty much play anything. He really likes D&D. We have games and game paraphernalia all over the house...
Oh yea big Final Fantasy fan. I just got the new FF13 and its pretty good. I never really got into the whole D&D thing and I get mad when the hubby stays out all night playing the game... He once was out 12 hours. I don't mind if he plays, just not 12 hours! lol
Thank you for the comment on my blog, Itty Bitty Corgi commitee huh? =) sounds like a fun place to be! I think its lovely he is the size he is Its really fun watching him walk UNDER my brothers Pittbull XD
A few of my friends have told me the same thing, I'd still rather him be home with me. He still goes out gaming be he shaved his hours down to 3-6 hours which is much better for me. :) Meh pup is sleepin on my feet... they are very warm lol
Thanks for the advice. Actually, Rex is house broken, he is doing the submissive peeing - I think that's what it's called. I've read that I need to build up his confidence. I hope that works!
Thanks Geri and Sidney! I did choose the name Wedgewood after seeing a dog w/ that name many years ago on Animal Planet! We always get asked where he got his name! It suits his stubby frame! :)
You're welcome. I figure us California Lowriders ought to stick together. This way we're covered from the far far north to where you are! Have a great weekend!
Sidney is very welcome! He is doing a great thing for animals! I have always wanted to take Algy on one of these walks, but he poor little feet have always had problems. Sidney and Bruce are living the dream!! Get out there and strut your stuff!!
Hi, About Poopdeck's name.......I wanted to name him poodeck, his Dad wanted to use nautical history to name him after Lord Nelson, and my sister said his name had to be regal. Did I nail it or what? I just call him Poopie.
Thank you for the welcome! Yes they are funny little dogs. A breed I am coming to love after having big dogs my whole life! The sleeping poses are something that I marvel at each day!
Thanks! Loretta isn't exactly a rescue though. She currently belongs to my mother's coworker, who shows corgis. Loretta grew up to be too tiny to be a show dog, so I'm adopting her to just be a lovely little pet. Her current home is great, but with me she'll get to be a spoiled only dog instead of living with a bunch of show-corgis! And the waiting is impossible!
Thanks so much for the welcome and the kind words for Chloe and Fishie. I'm not quite sure how to work this site yet, but people have certainly been warm and friendly!

Thanks so much for the offer of help. I'm nearly 60 (next month) and am not exactly a techno whiz.... I'll get back to you when I've gotten my (many) questions ready! By the way, your site is very cool, and Sidney is adorable!

You're welcome, Geri. I used to live down in San Diego when I was a kid and we got a wonderful cat from the Humane Society that we had for nearly 16 years. I miss living down there a lot and am glad to help out Team Lowrider. :)
