Long Beach, NY, but have lived in CA since college.
About Me:
Married with children...all 3 grown and flown the nest.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Have had R & W Pembrokes my whole life, usually in pairs. Lucy, our now 5-yr old charmer, is a delight and keeps us laughing. We purposely picked a petite girl so that we could fly with her in the passenger cabin. We had our maiden voyage CA to NY (w. Lucy in the largest sized airline approved sherpa) and we all survived––esp. me, with the help of a bloody mary!
Fast forward a year and we re-homed a tri-male puppy who would have been in the pound if we didn't intervene. He had been left alone basically 24/7 in a backyard, and was all ribs and ears. He was a handful and the most difficult corgi I had ever owned. I don't know who was more upset by the decision to keep him, Jack, my husband, or Lucy. But all things happen for a reason. He's a wonderful, gentle and loyal corgi and we're all in love with him, including Lucy, (most of the time!), haha. RR turned 1 yo this month & surprised us all by becoming quite the looker. Lucy is 5. RR is twice her size, Everyone thinks that she's the puppy. Ya gotta love happy endings!!!
Again, congrats on getting Rafa! He's where he needed to be with someone who will be vigilant and pay lots of attention! Looking forward to the pix of him. I just know he's a doll!
Thanks for the welcome! You wouldn't happen to attend the Huntington Beach Dog Park meetups on Sundays would you? Ella and I are still trying to make it to one.
OK so I guess the easy answer is to stop with the treats....or cut down on them....I'll bet you already thought of that. So glad to hear that the two loveable Corgis are doing better....I just know that every day at your home is extra special now.
Congrats Jack, Wendy, and Lucy...Rafa is sooo cute (and Lucy too) he looks so happy. It is nice to see Lucy is adjusting. From the sounds of his begining, I bet he never knew he could be so loved!!
I don't know if this is the same breeder that Rafa came from, but it may be worth checking into.

I know you said the people you got him from didn't provide you with clear info about him.
Maybe they can provide you with a little more information about his background etc.
BTW, Love the videos and congrats! :)
Gwenie is a cuddle girl she has always loved to sit in my lap. She does sleep in our bed. She is the first bed dog we have ever had. But she isn't spoiled really ;). I know your great Corgi parents so your pups have it made!
your babies are so adoreable!! Yes we took Toby to his first corgi meet up today and he had a blast and so did we.. We were very proud of him and we met some wonderful new corgi friends....
Yes we still twitter a lot. This week Iam off on a trip so I hope my son will tweet for Gwenie. Gwenie will take care of him while Iam gone.LOL He is an adult. When I got Gwenie from the breeder she sat right in my lap. She loves to cuddle with me. Iam very lucky. Lucy is so sweet too!
How is it going. Is Rafa hanging off Lucy pantaloons yet? What a funny picture that makes. I love the pictures.....You are pushing my "want a puppy" buttons. But then there would be three....More hair....more fun.....Hmmmmm
Hi, I saw you got your gorgi at Adams county in Brighton, CO. Do you live in Brighton-I do!:) Still on the look out for a corgi or corgi mix to be best friends with our mutt Kelty. Thanks for responding-Julie
Just thought I'd give you an update on Romeo.
I had him neutered last thursday and while they were at it they pulled two of his incisors that were not coming out on their own.
Poor baby!
Had to bring him back a couple bays later because he pulled one of his stitches and scraped the incision with the cone.
I wish he did not have to wear this stupid cone, but he is sooo active!
He will get the stitches out on the 20th.
They had to give him an injection of steroids and an antibiotic besides what he is taking.
This whole neuter thing has been very expensive!
His puppy classes have been put on hold until he gets stitches out and no more cone.
I do not remember ever going through all this with my other corgi, Ricco when I had him neutered.
I am hoping Romeo will calm down a bit, but it doesn't look like it is gonna happen anytime soon. lol
I am so glad to hear that Lucy and Rafa are getting along so well!
They are such a joy to watch when they have someone to play with!
My sister may be getting a corgi puppy the same age as Romeo.
Hopefully Romeo will have a new friend to play with soon!
I am keeping my fingers crossed!
John I disagree with Eric I believe Wellness Core to be one of the top foods produced today and has a lot of meat in it. But then again it is over priced. What they are trying to prevent when they suggest pulling the teeth is a malocclusion.
When I researched it I found many vets suggest pulling these retained puppy teeth(Canines) at the time of a spay and neutering procedure.
Which is what Romeo had done.
Malocclusion can lead to a multitude of problems.
Mouth injuries, periodontal disease, soft-tissue defects from tooth contact in the floor of the mouth and the roof of the mouth (palate), wear on the teeth, fractures and of course infection.
I opted to have both done at the same time.
They also suggested I keep him on a soft food diet for about 5 days.
I gave him Wellness Canned Dog food because it was rated so well and it had the best ingredients.
Hope this helps.
Murray beats Nadal? Unbelievable. Didn't see it, too busy working. Yes, Ms. Ziggy will be getting fixed next week. She's getting more "mangaeable" each week so that's a relief. She is such a suck-up dog. Rolls over for everyone and is really beside herself if everyone doesn't pay attention to her.
I still think Rafa is a fine boy's name, yes I am a fan of Rafa (and Fed) so thanks for the FYI's . . . I'm very intemittant on everything since I'm working 50 plus hours a week. My Ziggy is getting better all the time but a handful. Lots of stuff to clean up that she drags in from outsite to shred!
I'm sure you know . . .
Bummer about Rafa's loss tonight' saw a little of it.
Cat of the Century, Catch as cat Can, Cat's Eye Witness, Murder on the Prowl, and The Purrrfect Murder --just to name a few. I have read them all. And sorry it took so long for me to get back with you-Julie
