About My Corgi(s):
Gromit was born in September of '09. He is the third Corgi I've been owned by and what he lacks in a tail he makes up for with his tongue. Gromit is named for the super smart dog "Gromit" in the "Wallace & Gromit" movie series from the UK. Our newest family member is Sparkle, a female Corgi, who was born in January of 2012. Sparkle is as bright and happy as her name. Her brother Rocky is on MyCorgi, too: http://mycorgi.com/profile/RRG
I have:

I often wonder if Sam T reads every comment. I am embarrassed to admit that I have spent almost the entire day on this site or scrounging around for old pedigrees. One google link opens to another and there I go spiraling, out of control down the rabbit hole. BTW, what's Corgi L?
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

This is a lovely site that Sam has created and I've met some very nice people on it. I have never done any social networking. I leave that to my kids. I tried Twitter just to see what it was about and I was not impressed. Having seen what you and John can do with your photos, I don't even know why I am thinking of adding more photos! My attempts at videos are beyond embarrassing. But, I like to learn. My Macs & music are probably my only hobbies, if that.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

I probably shouldn't say this, but Gromit and Night look like they were meant to be together. Are they at least close enough for frequent visits. Does Gromit seem to recognize his mom and brother when they've been together?
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Thanks for your advice. It also doesn't help that I use my iPhone and Flip camera instead of using my new digital camera and year-old camcorder. I also have so much tape to convert to DVD of my kids. I still have unconverted BetaMax, VHS, 8 mm. The quality is fading every day that I procrastinate and spend hours on the internet. Ditto for cleaning off my desktop. Wish it was as clean as my Mac desktops, which actually are getting more and more cluttered. Judging from your backyard equipment for Gromit, it's clear that you are very organized and uncluttered.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Another thank you. I post my photos/videos of Lucy because it captures something special to me. I love all the photos of "awkward sleepers." Doesn't take a professional photographer to grab my heart. Yet, I must add that some of the more professional photos that you, John, a few others post can sometimes take my breathe away. I esp. love all the photoshop stuff, ie. mt. corgimore; corgi ears behind the mountains. Those imaginative photos are very special.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Sometimes things seem meant to be and they aren't. Grommit and Night seemed like a natural pair. I asked about their recognition of each other and Grommit recognizing his breeder. I was surprised when Blandie Ijams visited Dylan and Emily and they seemed to remember her. It may have just been their natural Corgi enthusiasm...but it seemed there was a connection. Yet, when Emily died (another story. ask me about it later) we were so afraid for Dylan. They had never been separated and Blandie would only sell them as a pair because they were so attached to each other. Long story short: Dylan didn't show any outward signs at all of missing her or being sad.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

I'm embarrassed (yet again!) to tell you that we've had a Panasonic VHS/DVD device like you mentioned and I still haven't yet figured out how to work it! I have no idea where the manual is. Maybe if I clean my room I can find it! I assume that you are the neat one. My husband, Jack––a neurologist––is totally organized, uncluttered, yet has lived to live with me (after 36 yrs) as I am...sloppy and slothful!
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

I have this stupid thing about asking directions or reading a manual. I like to figure things out myself. I'm slow to accept when I need help. Clearly, I need to work on this.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

OK. You're going to give me a reason to go through all the crap on my desk and in the den. Sounds like you and your wife are a perfect match--opposites. Jack and I have been together for 36 (yikes!) years. We're both Leos and according to astrological BS, Leos either get along or they don't. So, yes, I think we do get along. Thanks for telling me I have to read the manual. I know I have it or could get the PDF file. I just get turned off when I can't figure the workings of something by myself. Now, I will get the manual. PS I think you mentioned that you could then edit the DVDs. What DVDs do you use that allow you to edit/delete?
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Now I remember why I have problems on this site. When I begin responding to a comment and then try to find the original comment...it all gets lost. So let me say, while I still have a thread of the conversation: I don't agree with your neighbor/shrink that opposites attract because of a fascination with the differences. That fascination would hardly last a week or two. I do think opposites open pathways and doors (I always loved The Doors) that may have been missed without each other. It's these differences (opposites) that make a relationship grow.

    PS
I think your neighbor's getting the better deal! haha. Hope you're not also giving him PhotoShop help! btw, I couldn't help but notice that the website you posted for your wife had great motorcycle & life art, but no Corgis. I probably shouldn't have said this either, but, by now you know I shoot from the hip.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

I literally laughed out loud about not enough motorcycles or corgis on the page. You are hilarious. Meantime, as soon as I try to post a comment your message disappears and it's left to my memory (what memory!!) to respond. I never tried face book, best left to my kids. Twitters a ho-hum. I do love all the Corgis. Can never get enough of them. I spent all of yesterday here, so I better sign off and get productive.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Thank you. I saw the "view thread" that you referred to but never used it. What a difference it makes! I don't have to fly blind with my responses anymore. And aren't you the nifty one with your totally cool graphic thrown in. Now how did you do that??? Don't tell me if it's too complicated. PS I agree with you completely about Facebook. I believe in privacy and frankly don't care to know anything that my kids choose not to tell me. They're all in their 20's and I trust them. One of my friends actually wrote to my dgt and asked to be her friend. My dgt. called me and asked what she should do. I told her to ignor it. Haha. I'm sure your son was equally thrilled when your wife "friended" him.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Actually there is a print screen on a mac, something like shift, control, 3 or 4 that captures the whole screen but I'm not sure how I could crop and resize it, let alone add text. But it looks pretty cool.

Meantime, I did pull out some pedigrees and it got me started searching for any siblings of Lucy's predecessors. Anyhow, I found what I thought was a hilarious judge at a specialty show. One of her comments, "Not a bad moving bitch when she decides to move, but too many trips to the kitchen has made anything more than a walk, just too much effort." If you want to have a look: http://www.pwcorgiclubgs.org/critiques1997.html
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

I know you love to look at Corgis, so when you have a minute take a look at this page: http://www.goldengatecorgis.org/specialties/2008_specialty/specialt...
Lucy's breeder, Tim Mathiesen of Nebriowa, had quite a day. Lucy's half-brother is Nebriowa Now of Never. They share the same father and were born days apart. He might be one of the pups that I posted on the day we had the tough task of picking just one puppy. I love Nebriowa Red Stilletos. She's an all-around beauty. I'm so proud of this breed and all the great breeders. I really can't imagine why anyone would prefer the Corgis to look as they did in the 50's––not to mention the temperament back then!
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

How lucky are we to have a Jean, Tim, Judy, et. al. in our lives? I read a lot of judges reviews because I was looking at pedigrees in case we want to get a second Corgi as similar as possible to Lucy because she has stolen our hearts. Since Lucy is neutered, I looked for a sibling. I did find siblings and it took up at least a day. I think Jack and I just wan to clone Lucy. The judge's critique took me off-guard, just like every Corgi does when you're not looking. I had never read any critique quite as specific and honest as hers. She cut to the bone and I loved every word! I can't keep straight any of the pedigree stuff either. I actually started to cut and paste things from pedigrees that I thought I might want (when and if we want another Corgi puppy). I couldn't even keep track of Lucy's litter mates. Her breeder happened to have 3 litters within a week of each other. This is something that Tim never experienced before. Every bitch took, and Pemcorder Belroyd whatever was a busy little stud; father to 2 of the 3 litters. That discussion re. how Corgis used to look was a big headache. I'm glad it's over. This has been, without a doubt, the kindest site for lovers of a breed to contact each other and speak without judgment. Kudos to Sam T and his wife (who actually started the site) for creating such a lovely place to converse.

Sunny Side Up! 5 gen pedigree.pdf

Lots of relatives on this pedigree! Plus Gromit has some of the Corgi royalty on this pedigree, just beginning with Am.Can. Ch. Llanfair Night Owl ROMX. I know pedigree can be a bit annoying, especially when our pet's pedigree is far better than our own; but it is a way to keep track of family.
I have never bred or shown a Corgi, and never will. But, I feel pedigree is important to the breed.
  • Jean Rademacher

    Hi Gromit and Doug
I have had a corgi for many years as a pet for our children as they were growing up. They are great inside for companionship as well as outside. One was put down at 13 yrs. as he developed stomach cancer, and the 2nd one at about 12 yr. developed diabetes and I gave him insulin shots for about a yr. and finally he lost his sight and did not enjoy life anymore, but in the long run the corgi is my favorite and best breed out there.
Now have 3 and just love them so much, I would probably have even more.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

"View thread" has definitely made navigating this site easier. Thanks, Doug! BTW, we MacUsers don't even have a right click option! I could never be a judge or breeder. I have a rough enough time when a basketball owner retires one of my favorite players. I would never be able to let go of anyone. I'm a big college and NBA fan. I also love football but we no longer have a pro team in LA. OK, enuf with the non-corgi gab. I was thrown from a motorcycle on my way to college and it definitely changed my feelings about motorcycles.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Ch Martindale Butter Brickle is also a top Corgi. Lots of Belroyd's in the pedigree. Lucy's mom is Ch Pemcorder Belroyd Zodiac. How do they come up with these names? There's also Roughouse Hume Cronyn here, who's from Dylan and Emily's breeder and in their pedigree. Does this make up cousins?
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Blandie and Maitland Ijams loved to name their litters in themes, as do many other breeders. Dylan and Emily's father was CH Patek Phillipe and all the litter had watch in their names. Emily was Roughouse Watch Over Me and Dylan was Roughouse Watch Out for Me. Notice the champions end with us! We don't show.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

We used to pretend that Dylan and Emily were named for poets, but the reality is that our kids named them after two of the cast of Beverly Hills 90210. My neighbor had the first Corgi I ever saw and I couldn't believe he was not a mixed breed. My dog at that time was a rescue. My grandmother literally rescued him from a discarded couch in a street in Brooklyn and she brought him home to us. He looked more like a pedigreed dog than that Corgi. I originally thought the name of the breed was Welsh Gorky, which I felt was apt as my neighbor's was saw gawky. I fell in love with that gawky dog & decided when I got a Corgi I'd name him Gorki. Gorki was a rescue, too, but his owner named him Corky, so it was an easy switch to Gorki or The Gork. He was a character.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

whoopsie. Sandyshire's the Phantom was bread to Llanfair Night Owl's grandson. complicated, isn't it. and so silly that I have more interest in corgi pedigrees than my own. i have zero interest in my family tree. no doubt it's filled with outlaws.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

I still love Charles and his big mouth. Though, I'm sure that Elin Woods is not. We're big Laker and Duke fans.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Haha. Seems like Lucy's father has been enjoying his retirement as well!
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

LOL. double oops! Tommy was bred to Llanfair Night Owl's granddaughter, Royal Mark Sandyshire Joyful. I guess the Mark in the name confused me, which is not an unusual state of mind for me. I really am spatially challenged and easily thrown. We can get into the outlaws and scoundrels in my family tree later. I can't believe how much time I've spent on these Corgi trees. Of course it takes me much longer than most to navigate them. Tim had a litter filled with designers, like Cole Haan, and actors, G. Clooney, G. Garbo. But I do like keeping track of Lucy's sibling in case they have puppies some day. I doubt that Tim will do the same breeding that got us Lucy.

    PS http://www.goldengatecorgis.org/specialties/2006_nat_specialty/2006...
You'll see that Jean had a puppy in the 6 mo class and Tim had 2 in the 9 mo. class. Of the two, one is Lucy's litter mate, the other is a half brother. Their dad was a busy guy. They were born 3 days apart. Too bad that feisty judge wasn't doing this event. it's be fun to read her comments on them.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

hahaha. i am literally LMAO at about a switch-hitting champ. think of the possibilities this could open to breeders. can't believe you wrote back after my inundating you with pedigree stuff. esp. weird bec. we don't show our corgis, but oh how we love our show quality pups. so, i freely admit that whenever possible we try to get a rescue, but i'll be damned if i'm going to feel guilty every time i buy a corgi from a breeder. ok, i'm damned bec. i do feel guilty. but sometimes only a puppy will do. there, i said it!
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Tim doesn't have a website. He's old school. So the only Nebriowa Corgis you'll likely see is via me or if your google "Nebriowa." In case you're wondering about the name, as I was, and forever mispronouncing it, it's a combination of Nebraska and Iowa. Who'd a thunk it?!
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

@Doug and Gromit- so true. I also hope that someday our government recognizes that people should have the same rights as dogs––to be put to rest, by their loved ones, when that time comes.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Glad the most popular fella's feeling better this morning. Your photo yesterday stole every member's heart. He really knows how to yank our heartstrings!
  • Foxy Tran

Hi Gromit! Your pictures are awesome. We LOVE the Wallace & Grommit movies.
  • Foxy Tran

Foxy is the only Corgi in our family. The other corgis you see are Foxy's friends.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

haha! lucy deMille and wendy goldwyn. having fun. added music to 2 videos and i'm calling it a night; though I may try to upload the photos i scanned of lucy's predecessors. first i'll have to check the quality. fingers crossed.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

    I know, anything but boring!
  • Joanna, Rainy and Calvin

Thanks for the gift guys! Rainy says thanks too!! >:)
  • Andrea De Leo

Thanks for the comment on Romeo's picture.
My first corgi (Ricco) was a red and white Pembroke and I also lost him in 2009.
    I miss him dearly!
I think Romeo is pretty special too!
We are going through the teething and eating everything that he should not be eating stage. lol
    Love your photography!!! :)
  • steve ruggles and Ziggy

Hey Doug, great page you put together for Gromit. Love the quote at the top; echos my sentiments in a tribute I wrote to Zoe on the day she died. I'll send it to you by email. You've got a great dog. I just dog-sat my ex's corgi (used to be ours together) and now I'm having corgi withdrawal. Broke my heart when he didn't want to leave with his other dog sitter. He still cared.
  • Rebecca Marie O'Bryan

your welcome:) i am very proud that he is serving his country and that there are lots of people who support him. it is very nice to have teddy and my two kitties while hes away, its so cute how we all go to the door to welcome him home from work lol
  • steve ruggles and Ziggy

    Hey Doug and Gromit and Susan;
Not sure how this gift thing works but much appreciated. I'm very tired, as a new father, would be so I've been a bit absent from the communication. It's very time-consuming to have everyone fawning over my new pup.

Order, in the world, has been restored!

    More later.

    Thank you
    s
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

hey doug, was just refreshing my memory on puppies and crate-training, and found sage words on the subject. should have known w/o looking that it was from you! still wondering if i'll have a little baby boy to crate at night. will keep you posted.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

aww shucks (blush). but thanks for your kind words about rafa. i know how you *love* the name.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Why didn't you tell me? Doug has a nice ring to it. I'll call him Rafa Redoug dog!
  • Sandra N

Thank you!! He is such a happy dog. Gromit is a cutie and looks a lot like Sniper!
  • Jessica

Thanks for the welcome message. Gromit is very cute!
  • Gail L

Thanks for the champagne gift and the good wishes. Gromit is soooo handsome. Cane's toe is healing slowly and he is still in a splint for maybe 6 more weeks...ugh! I noticed you are originally from Gilroy....my husband has family from Gilroy.
  • Mary Ellen Brett

Thx for the welcome! I love the agility course you guys built, what a fabulous idea! Quinny's new favorite game is chasing after the broom, as I run around the house trailing it behind me :)
  • Sam Tsang

Thank you Doug! We love Gromit's pictures, thanks for sharing him with us :)
  • Julee Wheeler

Thank you! Originally we wanted him to bear the rings with my little brother but Odin just couldn't get over his stage fright...Gromit is freaking adorable by the way..I have a soft spot for red and whites!
  • Sam, Gregg & Poopdeck

I would like to post more pictures of our boat dog; however the video card in my desktop died. So all my pictures are trapped in no man's land. I plan to get an external memory...uh...thing so can download all my pictures from my camera going back to last Christmas! Careful what you ask for!!!
  • Sam, Gregg & Poopdeck

the HP tech guys have had me tear apart my CPU and also told me how to replace the video card. When I went to purchase one the computer dude wanted to sell me a "basic" card for $70.00. Then told me it was only returnable if it was unopened. I left the video card at the store...perhaps I can find one on line much cheaper.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

    Thank you!
