Corgis Rule, so enough about me...lets read about corgis!
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
My First corgi's name was Algy. He was a black-headed tri-color. On March 24, 2010, after a short time, he finally lost the struggle with lymphoma. He was a good boy, very sweet and low key and always a pleasure to have around. He loved rides and donuts, and popcorn at the park on Lake Ontario. In the summertime, he'd go blueberry picking and steal berries from other people's buckets. We miss him very much.
We now have two new corgis in our lives! Both come from Jane Christensen in Minnesota. Rainy, who now lives the sweet life with my parents, is an absolutely sweet corgi with a very gentle dispostion, and loves to be loved. She will be smothered with a generous helping of that here. Calvin is our newest member and was a rescue that Jane took in and fostered. He is a cardi who missed out on his major window of socialization, but we hope to continue the work that Jane started, and get him out and about. He likes to people watch, but from a safe distance, and boy does he like to cuddle! I hope to have more pictures up of him soon.
Thanks! He is a doll! My main page picture, is Riley my first Cardi, he passed in 05. My Pembroke, Sam passed a year ago. Sam was more "puppy" like, Riley was more like a little man. Opposites, but full of love and energy, thankful to have the spirit back in my house! I look forward to hearing about you and your Cardi!
Thanks Joanna and Rainy for the nice comments of Mr. Remy's photos. As you guessed, he IS the captain of the ship (however my husband is more than willing to wear the ascot and hold the martini)!
Sorry to hear that Algy is no longer with us. Remy has just started to exhibit signs of degenerative myelopathy. He is 12 going on 13 this coming July and it's hard to see him start to drag his back leg. These little guys become such a part of the family that you hate to see these type of things start to happen to them. Glad to see that Algy sent Rainy to take care of you!
I'm happy to see you have a new Corgi. You are a corgi lover and Rainy looks like a wonderful and lucky outlet for all your enthusiasm. She looks like she's making herself at home. Keep taking pictures.
Hi Thank you for your sweet kind words, sounds like we both lost a very special corgi in our lives and we both found a new corgi to love.. It has been bery difficult with the loss of our Riley, but it has also given us the joy to love another little corgi boy.Toby is adjusting well,he has come along way in the short time we have had him He came from a very abused situation and he now is feeling the love he deserves and he has brought joy to our home again.. We still have some potty issues {but doing better}- and he is terrified of storms and fireworks , but otherwise doing great.. Good luck with your new baby too...
Hi Joanna-- Had vacation this last week and was home sick with a nasty sinus infection and bronchtis- and spent alot of one on one time with Toby-- finally started to feel somewhat better yesterday, so Toby and I got took a drive up to visit my mother who has been very ill for quite awhile now, well she always calls and asks me to bring Toby up for a visit, she just adored Riley as well, well point is the excitement in her eyes when she see's these dogs- just brings a smile to me.. Very good therapy for the senior citizens.. These little dogs are such a joy to have in our lives...
Hey Joanna, how's Calvin settling in? Remember to register the avid chip, keep your address updated and tag in a safe place. Thanks for giving him a forever home!
Joanna, I understand that your dad made that beautiful box for Jane and that there is some talk about him making more for a fundraiser for CorgiAid? I don't know much about fundraisers, but I think the box is beautiful!! I don't know how much people would be willing to pay or how much would have to be charged, how they would be advertised, etc, etc. Just a little something to think about!
Joanna, I am so sorry that I may have mis-spoken, maybe Jane and I got the wrong idea (it's a good thing we don't live close to each other, as we could get into a lot of trouble!!) Anyway, IF he decides to make more during this next long winter, I think the CorgiAid idea is a good one. Take care, and tell him that I think the box is beautiful! Carol, Lucky and Sonny
OH DEFINATLEY!! That would be so much fun. I'm so jealous of all of the playdates, and meetups I see listed everywhere else except for around here. It would be awesome to get everyone around here together, even if it's only once in a while.
Hi Joanna. Your new kids are cute! Petie and Elliott are having a great summer. It has been a hot one here. Petie is getting around very well right now, and is on the very lowest dose of prednisone. No return of the paralysis, no pain, and can jump up on the couch again. He will be 15 on Aug. 29th. Elliott is healthy and happy( and wild and crazy). I love the Cardi. Do you find him to be different in personality from the Pems?
Thank you for the comment on Bomber's little ears. As we know they won't stay that way for long haha. Can't wait until we go to get him. We are going to Ohio to pick him up and taking Samantha with us. It is the same breeder we got our beloved Samantha from, it will be a blast to have Wendy see her all grown up and to meet Wendy in person. It will be over 3,000 miles round trip for us but worth every inch. You have some beautiful babies yourself hard to pick out a favorite picture as I enjoyed them all.
Thanks. Sami is the light of our life. I went to the chiropractor Monday and was told to take the week off to let the tendons and ligaments in my back heal. I go in again in the morning for another treatment. I swear if my husband has too he has been instructed to strap me down to the hood for our trip LOL I hope you are doing better.
Hahahah Aww that is too cute! My bf and I got a kick outta hearing that! So cuteā”. Ya I can picture Conan with long wild hair. The funny thing is a lot of people refer to him as "Conan the Barbarian" and to be honest i've never read the book or even seen the movie. Is it any good?
Hi Joanna...just checking for new pics...I decided if I ever come back as a dog I am going to request to be able to live with you and your family!!!!!!
Joanna...if you received this message before, I apologize. While I love this website, I have figured how to navigate it that well yet. Anyway I read that you lost your dog Algy earlier this year also. What I found interesting was that Dave Bennett, you and I all had something in common: our corgis were tri-colored, 11 yrs old and had cancer. Like yours, mine had 3 tumors in his spleen that metasized to his liver and had internal bleeding. With Langston, everything happened so quickly. He began to get lethargic in Aug (I thought he was just starting to show his age) but when he stopped following me around the house, I knew something wasn't right. And after a number of trips to the vet, we learned about the tumors, that there was nothing that could be done and he was gone in 3 days. Anyway, I'm picturing Langston playing around with Algy and Corky on the Rainbow Bridge
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my post. I will ask my Vet about the w/d. I am encouraged by Algys weight loss. WOW 20 lbs! Surely LaVerne can lose 8! Again thank you for your time. Best of luck and love for you and your pups!
Thank you for being a friend in return, yes it is hard to lose one pet but then gaining a new puppy fills that empty void that was left behind, Darby is quite a little darling along with all his puppy ways.
Thank you for the compliment! Maple is a hand full and very funny! She sure does keep us entertained! Wow Algy was such a gorgeous doggy! I'm sorry for your loss, I lost my previous dog in Nov '10...it's so hard because we love them so much...but they sure did have the life! Rainy and Calvin look too sweet! Thanks again =)
Thank you for the Thanksgiving wish. May you all have a spectacular Thanksgiving as well. Sami and Bomber are doing great. Have just been so busy not much time to keep in touch with folks. Will try to do better in the future.
I have to say I was feeling a little sorry for myself late last night but I know they both have such wonderful lives so I too am thankful for such wonderful people like you and your family:) Thanks!
Thank you for the birthday greetings! Yes, this is a great day!! We had our third day of snow today, the corgis are loving it, even Lucky, who was rescued out of a snow bank. Carol, Lucky and Sonny
