I am down to earth and enjoy spending time with my daughter and pets we have 1 Pembroke Welsh Corgi and 3 cats and all very spoiled..
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Toby is 3 years old we got him as a rescue when he was a year old, shortly after our first Riley passed away. Toby is a red and white and a very spoiled boy he is a big part of our family.
Oh my, I can't believe it's so cold already. And I really thought the weather up there would be better for Corgis. Mollie is so hot in the summer time here. I didn't think about the arthritus though. Poor Riley. Hang in there!
Happy New Year Brenda and Riley !!!! Hope you have a healthy funny happy days.
Actually Jeter's jacket has adjustable straps so maybe good for Riley, too. Jeter is crazy about snow. He really likes running (swimming?) in the snow. He played in the snow hours yesterday. When we walk him we put booties on his paws and he seems to like them.
I bet Riley had great holidays. When the weather get warmer, Jeter and Riley can meet again and play together.
Sorry for belated answer. I bought Jeter's jackets from different websites when they are on sale. Since they are old models, price was way cheaper :-) and lots of dog owners actually prefer old models over new one. Some said new one's sizing would be tricky and neck opening is smaller and narrower than old modesl. Anyway overall this jacket is easy to put on/off, water/windproof and well-made. If you want to try this jacket on Riley, I would suggest to go to REI (small or medium size Ruff wear K-9 overcoat). I tried several things for Jeter from REI and returned :P
I got Jeter's booties from a dog boutique(wigglyville) in Chicago and bought his socks from altrec website. Socks and booties definitely help Jeter to enjoy this winter so far.
Jeter said : "Hey Riley, your jacket look so cool !! I like your another jacket, too. Are they warm?? Do you like wearing them??? Everytime I wear my jacket and booties, humans stop and say "What a cute little guy in a cute jacket and boots!!" :-)
I like them especially when it rains or snows. With jacket on, my fur stays dry. Hope you enjoy your new fashionable outfits and see you later.
Hi Brenda,
How was the concert? And how is Riley doing these days??
Jeter graduated basic agility class last week and we took him to Manhattan Illinois yesterday for introductory herding. Agility and herding, we had so much fun.
Hope you guys are doing good. At last winter is gone!!
Oh... I am so sorry for you loss. I really hoped Riley to be healthy again. I can't imagine how sad you are now my friend. Even though we met Riley once but we remember him a handsome, happy corgi. He will be missed. What a sad news.....
I just came across your blog post of losing Riley and finding Toby. What a very sad, but sweet story! I am glad that you have found a new baby, and also that you have good memories of your first kiddo, Riley. I think he's watching over you guys. Wishing you all the best and lots of happiness!! Corgis ARE special!
Hi Brenda, glad to hear that Toby is doing well. I saw his pictures on your page and he look so happy!
Yes we got our second corgi. She is just 12 weeks old. Jeter is learning to live with his new baby sister :-)
Thank you for letting me know about the picnic. I checked some information about this picnic and it sounds pretty interesting. But I am not sure whether we will go there because of our new corgi puppy. (She is still too young..)
Anyway I will call you soon.
Hi,
garter snakes won't hurt your dog and will probably eat mice that could pass diseases to your dog and to you. They're very beneficial snakes to have around.
Welcome. Sorry to hear about Riley and your loss. But, how wonderful that you have Toby now. And how lucky to have a male Corgi that is not a barker. We just added a 14 wk. old tri-baby to our family. He is already yipping. I don't remember hearing Lucy bark until after she was a year old! She now only barks at squirrels.
It was nice seeing you , Heather, and Toby yesterday. Toby is such a sweet boy. I think Jeter and Cappy both like him. They can be the three musketeers !! - or the three stooges :-)
Let's meet again and let our little corgis play together.
Andrew said your brownies were good. Say hello to Heather and Toby for us.
awww. thanks so much for your gift. it really brightened my day! and i hope you know how much you meant to riley and the care you gave him. he no longer needs insulin injections twice a day and he died in the arms of his mom. you gave riley a great life. i'm so glad that you have toby...and that he's not a barker! rafa YIP YIPs all day. we're working on it. slowly but surely. again thanks for the gift and thinking of us. xoxo w, l, & rafa the rascal pup
Thank you ! We have no snow but the weather if freezing here too. In the 20's and teens. Brrrrr. Give Riley a hug from us. Will talk soon. Have a great day :)
Merry Christmas. I'm looking at the photos of Riley and Toby while listening to my kids cooking in the kitchen. The baby with my beloved corgi, Rookie, is now 29! I still think of Rookie all the time. I believe that there is a bit of Rookie in Rafa. Love to all the corgi past and to all the new puppies and rescues in our future. A bright 2011 to all!
Brenda, your new boy Chevy is so beautiful!! I am glad your two boys are good together. Jeter and Cappy are doing great. Cappy loves snow and she is so cute in the snow :-) She is not a small puppy any more but still plays like a puppy hahaha.
Happy new year to you, Heather, Toby, and Chevy!!!!
Actually Harley is a boy... but he is very beautiful. His coat does take near-daily maintenance, we have a rectangular-shaped fine tooth brush to pull out extra coat and any tangles. We also use a furminator during the summer (look on Ebay or Amazon, you can find them cheaper than in pet stores). We do get him groomed as needed, every couple months, so he doesn't get too shaggy. We actually just got a good electric trimmer and shaved him ourselves, which we may do from now on.
Well,I cried about poor Riley. I dread that day for us.
All these rescue stories just trouble me. I'm so glad people like y'all save Corgis and give them a good home, especially from abusive homes. They're truly the most loving and loyal dogs ever!!
We have tons more pics of Chevy, but not on here. My wife and I both have pics of our Chevy on our facebook pages. We also have a bunch we need to download out of our camera.
thankyou my granddaughter named her , from the tv show i-carly
one day i plan to get a male when she has matured some and i can handle her better. My husband and i are going to have a trainer come by this month and show me more ways to control her while walking.. Shes a hyper one and since i have never had such a energetic dog.im not sure what i do wrong.. been through two CGC classes @ six weeks each and still she pulls!! We sure love her though and shes learned a whole heck of alot already
Thanks! We love our Twinkie girl. Chevy is a beautiful boy. My daughter thinks he looks quite a bit like Twinks. He was a rescue? Who could give up such sweetheart. I don't know what it is about the fluffs but I think they have extra sweetness too. Thanks for friend-ing us.
Thanks for adding me, Brenda~~ Corgis are such lovable creatures (all dogs are, generally speaking) and I don't see why some people can abuse them. I'm really glad to know that there are kind people like you out there, and I'm sure Toby and Chevy will have a wonderful life under your wings. ^^
