My husband and I will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary on July 23, 2011! Have 2 human kids and 2 fur kids. I now have the four kids I've always wanted. :)
Name: Lance
Breed: Cardigan Welsh Corgi(Blue Merle)
Birthday: October 30, 2005.
Current Age: 8 1/2
RIP 5-3-14
Was an only dog for 5 years, but not anymore! Learning about sharing, I hear sharing is good. :) I have corgi buddies already so hopefully it wont be too hard to share with my brother.
Lance is a pure breed cardigan corgi, at the moment he may appear like he is not because his ears are floppy. Lance is dealing with auto immune issues and vasculitis of the ears which affects the blood flow in his ears.
Name: Tucker
Breed: Red and White Pembroke. Was rescued from the
shelter March 6, 2011
Birthday: October 12, 2007
Current Age: 6
Tucker is a sweetheart, seems quite comfy here. :) So glad to be out of the shelter. I was so sweet the first time I met my potential owners I gave them lots of corgi kisses, I stole their hearts. <3
Did the boys enjoy their presents? Noodles had a fun-filled day. You have to watch the video of him unwrapping his jumbone. It is too funny. We then headed over to my parents house in the afternoon where Noodles got another present (from my Aunt and Uncle). A fun time was had by all.
Hi Natalie! I think Lance and Tucker are adorable! I started with one cardigan, and it just wasn't enough, so we (my husband w/o my knowledge) got the 2nd one. We have 2 other dogs, so can't add any more right now, but eventually, I can see us with more corgis-pembrokes or cardigans. I would like to do a rescue next time, although my husband really loved having puppies to raise.
Thank you for your post. That's awful that people have lost their corgis to snack bags! I am aware of the dangers of bags and I was watching her closely as I wrapped my presents just above her. It was just so cute at the time, I had to snap a picture before taking it away from her!
Oh guys. Our play date was wonderful. I'll send you photos next week. Thanks for remembering the play day. Send me photos of New Year's Eve and Day if you get some good ones. Meantime, know that we wish you all the best in 2012! xoxo
A tab (or at least that's what everyone in my class calls it) is just like a really short leash that you keep on them. It can be a cut off leash with a knot in it, one gal uses one of those twisty shoes laces that stretch. You just make sure it's short enough that they can't step on it, but it gives you something to grab onto if needed.
Thanks, he is actual a defective colour, called "Pink". It is a recessive Red gene. Plus he has a long curly coat, so that is why he ended up with me. Not show quality, but we love him to bits. He sure loves the cold snowy days. Which we have lots of lately. So funny to see him hopping through the deep snow with those short legs.
I'm a bad mother because I didn't take any pictures or video of Noodles licking the snow or catching the snow balls I made him. Sorry. He did have a wonderful time playing in the snow. We had ice and snow this morning and he pulled me down the driveway. I let go of his leash or else I would have fallen, but he had fun running in it. They are calling for more snow and ice tomorrow night in to Wednesday, but I won't hold my breath. Noodles will be thrilled if it happens and I'll be thrilled watching him play in it.
We got more snow last night and Noods had a blast running in it this morning on our morning jog. When my husband and I left for work, we had 2 inches and it was coming down like crazy. Per our weather guessers, we might get another 2 inches tonight. Noodles is loving it. You can just tell he is having a blast. When we went jogging last night, his tongue was flapping around and his eyes get this bright look to them. He is too cute! I'm hoping we still have some by the time we go home, so Noodles can play in it. I did make snowballs for him this morning to catch. If I remember, I'll try and get some pictures of Noodles in the snow.
I can't seem to upload the snow picture to my page here at work, but I'll put it in this comment. We still have this much snow after it had been raining cats and dogs for over 6 hours (taken yesterday). Everything is still covered, including the streets and we've had heavy rain and wind now for 12 hours. Apparently we got quite a bit for us. Oh, you will die laughing. Noodles hates the slush. He found himself in the middle of a big slushy mess, froze and looked up at me for help. I had to go in that slushy mess and carry him over to the snow. He also avoided walking in it and if he had to, he walked very slowly lifting only one paw at a time. Too funny!
Hi Natalie, got your message about your parent's. I do have friends on My Corgi from Murrel's Inlet around the corner from Pawley's Island . There name is Jeff and Jacci they are retired and have two corgi's a boy and girl. Look them up ,I sent them a message but not active lately. Maybe you can message them by e-mail? Dogs are allowed on the beach there especially now before beach season!
We did print out the Christmas card family picture and that is hanging up right before you go downstairs. I loved the picture and the colors turned out well. Noodles has an orange bandana, but my husband wouldn't allow him to favor one team over the other, so Noods had to wear his black and white one. He is a Beaver at heart though since he is a mama's boy. Our snow is all gone, but Noodles is happy no more slush. We are just dealing with tons of rain and that means flooding. Yuck!
That is wonderful to hear about Lance. Yeah! You can always use a bright spot like that, right? I'm sure Lance is glad he is feeling better in order to play with his brother. Nothing like brotherly love, right?
Noodles and I are doing well. I can't believe my baby will turn 7 in June. I've received 2 compliments just this past week that they couldn't believe he was 6.5 because he looked so skinny and young (yeah!). I still haven't made the appointment to get Noodles teeth cleaned. I work up the nerve to call and then I don't. Noodles had all his shots updated the end of December, so he is fine with them. I want to get bloodwork done to make sure he is okay before I agree to the cleaning though. I was curious to know if Tucker had his done because I was going to ask you how it went. Well, which ever of us gets it done first, we will have to tell the other.
Hi Natalie! Thanks so much for your welcome. :) I've been roaming around this site to learn more about corgis, different breeders, and what to expect. I hope to find one soon! :D
Thanks for the welcome! Day 1 has been great, he slept all through his first night and has been so much fun today. Eat, bathroom, play, sleep repeat! haha
Thanks for asking Natalie. Wynn is doing well and even though he doesn't like me doing the back rubs on his bad part of the spine he doesn't show any symptoms of his back hurting or lameness:)
Hello back. I'm sorry I haven't been on here that much. I hop on for a bit and then I'm off and running. Worrking really long days at work and working Saturday's, so that doesn't leave much fun time. Noodles is doing well and is currently enjoying our spring snow storm that hit us. My flowers aren't happy, but Noodles is having a blast. We went jogging yesterday and then we took turns chasing each other in the snow down at the park and I threw snowballs for him. It snowed more last night, so this morning on our jog, he got to basically hop through the snow because it was too deep for him. I think he might be the only "person" enjoying this snow. How is everyone doing, including the boys?
Hello! Ok, so here's how it started. Around November I noticed she had a red welt on her left ear and the vet said it looked like she was stung by something. So she gave her steroids to bring down the inflammation. By that time, it was already hurting her and I could tell the inside of her other ear was starting to look swollen. Well, the steroids made her go cushinoid and she started drinking/panting a ton and gained about 8 pounds in 3 days. Luckily that was only temporary and she dropped the weight once we stopped the steroids. But then her ears both got worse. To me, they look like swollen glands at the base of her inner ear. The ears themselves are now shriveled-looking and have flopped over. They're painful for her but all the vet was able to prescribe was metacam (pain killer) and told me to take her to a dermatologist last week. After going through so much with this, I really find a hard time believing it's dermatological. I'm going to have to just take her to a second vet, but I was really hoping to have some sort of idea of what was going on, and I just can't find anything anywhere.
Hello! I haven't been on here in ages! Back then, you were just called Natalie & Lance! We used to talk on chat for a while before I became scarce, and I was just wondering if you remembered me and Shippo. =) Also, the music on your profile rocks! =D
I think you have to go to where you change the background and there is a "transparent" part. There you can change the transparency of your page so that the picture shows through.
Natalie, I don't know if you are interested in natural things for health. One of the natural anti-inflammatory things that I have used for Reese to protect her when the worms die is: Super Bio-Curcumin (http://www.lef.org/Vitamins-Supplements/Item00407/Super-Bio-Curcumi...). I take it myself as it has helped me get off of a steroid that I take for a weird type of colitis, which results in diarrhea. Anyway, this is something that you might consider for Lance. I give Reese about 1l2 capsule each day plus various other things. Lois
Thanks, Natalie. My husband is heading home today, but I haven't heard an update since 9 last night on how his friend is doing. They want to do as many surgeries as they can in Boise, ID before they move him to Portland, OR (we all live in Salem). The doctors said don't expect him to be home for 4-6 months. Now the big project is finding a home and getting it fixed up to make it wheel chair accessible. That will be all of our project until Chris comes home. My uncle had surgery at 9:30 this morning. I don't know how long the surgery was supposed to take, but I'll check in on him in a little bit. Thanks for your prayers. It has been an emotionally draining weekend.
Natalie, I think it would work for auto-immune but will search for more info later. The colon condition that I have is not understood but the only things that work for it are anti-inflammatories so I wonder if it as an auto-immune component. I will write more later.
Hi Natalie, I just googled curcumin and autoimmune disease. Indications are that it is beneficial in multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and inflammatory bowel disease in human or animal models. If you wanted to start in a cautious manner, you could give him a little turmeric every day and gradually built the about up to 1 teaspoon per day. If there are no problems then you could consider the Super Bio-curcumin. Beware, it provides the yellow color of curry and many Indian dishes. I dropped a capsule and Randy grabbed it and ran over to the carpeting and made a mess. If you do try, let me know how it works out. For myself, my colitis required treatment with a customized steroid (Endocort) which is supposed to be safer because it stays in the GI tract but the cost would be over $1,100 per month and it kept knocking me into the medicare gap, so I found I could get it cheaper from a canadian pharmacy and also found that they even have a generic. That is one of the main reasons that I wanted to try curcumin and for the first time in about 3 years, I was able to phase off the Endocort. I got too smart and phased off the curcumin also and had to go back on them but am down to 1 of each a day, so I expect to go off Endocort in a few days but will continue the curcumin. ttyl, Lois
Hello Natalie and thank you from Travis (the four legged stinker) and from me, John (the two legged dork--I'm always kidding about myself). Beautiful dogs you have.
