I raised, bred and showed Rottweilers for 40 years. After losing the best Rottie I even had I couldn't bring myself to "try" to replace her. So after 3 dog-less years I decided to change breeds. I started doing all my research and went with the PWC. This is where Scooter came into my life.

About My Corgi(s):
I had the best ever girl. Her name was Siskiyou's Easter Sunrise. Better known as SCOOTER! She was 9 1/2 years old when I lost her to Cancer. Way to young and I wasn't prepared for that. She was such a joy. Scooter was my "Service Dog" and had gone everywhere with me. I miss her so. A good friend has made a movie for me of Scooter's life in pictures. Thank You Denise... Please watch. She was a great dog.. Now in my heart forever~
Febuary 29th 2012 I brought home a new 8 week old Tri baby girl. Her name is Flying P's Apple of my Eye, better know as Pippin! I had forgotten how much fun a new puppy can be. It has been a long time since I have laughed so much! What a joy...
August 9 2012 I added another member to my family. I brought home Topaz Midnite Gambler. Better know as Gambler. He's a sweet little guy and a joy to have in our family !
Wow, we have alot in common. Izzy is a water lover, loves to swim. They all do the same first thing in the morning around 6ish they all go out front on the lawn, snow or frost and roll and run around. Lodie loves the boat. He has to ride on the very front or very back of the boat. I am taking Tucker to the Petsmart class. But if you have any suggestions on other places please let me know. He will be 16 weeks this Thursday. He has his Vet appt. for the rest of his shots. Then we are good to go. I have never been in a obedience class before and I really do not know what to expect. I am up for any advice or suggestions you may have to make sure he becomes the best he can be. :)
It is a puppy class at 6:00pm with Rosalie on the 24th. It is an 8 week course once a week. The puppy course if for ages 10 weeks to 5 months. I have already introduced Tucker to Rosalie and she is very excited to have him in her class. Tucker has also been groomed there as well. It would be great to meet with you and Scooter. I am doing everything I can to socialize him at a young age. So far we are doing good. Delete Comment
HI CAROLYN, SCOOTER IS JUST BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I'M SL GLAD TO HEAR HOW LOYAL CORGI'S ARE TO THEIR OWNERS. ROTTIE'S ARE WONDERFUL. I HAD A MALE WHO I SADLY LOST AT 1 1/2 YEARS. I WAS SO DEVASTATED!!! ALL THREE VETS ARE GOOD. I'M PARTIAL TO BRAD. HE OWNS THE BUSINESS AND HIS WIFE RUNS "SPECIALTY PET SUPPLY" WHICH IS IN THE SAME LOT AS THE VET OFFICE. I'LL HAVE ALL THE INFO IF YOU NEED IT WHEN YOU COME BACK. I HOPE YOUR HAVING A GOOD WEEKEND!
That is awesome! What about a pill cutter? You can get them at a pharmacy. That is sad that she may have anxieties about the vet now. Lodie had his follow up yesterday. The vet said for now on he may have to sedate him to do his ck ups. He hates the vets office.
we bought a new fridge over the weekend and Brent had to run the water line from the sink to the fridge. well he had to go under the house to finish it up. Izzy was by his side the whole time watching every move. Yep, three bunny butts in that pic. Tucker is like Izzy has to be into everything your doing. Lodie was actually sitting off to the side watching them all get in daddy's way. LOL!
He has always disliked the vet office. When we got him, he was still intact. I took him to get fixed. When he first went to the vet he was fine. But after the fact he didn't want anything to do with it. Not sure if it was something the vet did or maybe he realized he didn't have his stuff anymore and that the vet did it. In any case he doesn't want anything to do with them anymore.
Oh we did. He only went to that vet that one time. After that we have been taking all of the dogs to Sierra Veterinary. They are pretty good. I just think he had already developed a fear. Lodie has always had some type of mental and or anxiety issues. I think that it is just all of the neglect and abuse he went through before us. For example all that time he spent locked up you would think that he would be glad not to have to be in a crate. He chooses to go in his crate to sleep. We don't force him nor do we close the door. We just keep it in our room because he feels safe in it. Sad, hugh! Izzy sleeps with us and Tucker sleeps either next to our bed or in our bathroom on the linoleum.
Oh my gosh. You know how they say when you get your dog spade or neutered how they mello out? Oh heck no! Tucker has had so much energy and then some. The whole time he had his junk he never once tried to mount the other dogs. Well last night he was trying to mount Izzy! Is there something that I don't know? Is this typical and I haven't experienced it? As for the rest he supposed to be doing, um no. He runs all over like it never happened. Then I put him in his kennel because I don't want him to hurt himself but then I feel bad because he looks at me with those "puppy eye's". I'm sure by the next week we will be good to go.
Can you believe this weather!? Well that was a dumb statement/question. It's NV of course you can. Will you be around next weekend? Maybe the weather will be nice again and we can get together. So far my calendar is clear but that doesn't mean Brent wont all of a sudden pull something out of his hat so I will keep you posted and you do the same with me. Hopefully we can meet up again. Give Scooter hugs & kisses from me. How is she feeling? Is she doing any better?
I am so glad that Scooter is feeling better! We are all doing well. Tucker is growing like a weed. We weighed him this morning and he is 27lbs! Ah! We have given up on trying to fix his ear. The mole skin looked like it was going to work but when we took it off within a day or two the ear flopped back down again. It was such a pain in the butt to take it off his ear that I didn't want to put him through that again so we are leaving him as is. :-)
I'm sure Juneau is quite a handful as big as she is. She is a beautiful dog. Scooter sounds like our Izzy, she just doesn't want to be messed with.
We are supposed to be about 82 degrees here today. I am really happy about that. Yes we will have to get together when you get back I would love it!! We can bring Izzy she wont pay no attention to any of the other dogs as long as she is around water nothing else exists! Let me know when you get back and we will make plans. I hope you had a great Mothers Day also. Talk to you soon!
Hello!!!! I just now read the outing comment. AH!!! It is Father's Day weekend and we are going out of town for the weekend..... As it seems we may be the only ones in the mix...I am free the 28th????? Maybe we wont have thunder storms by then? Let me know what you think, I am all for Topaz... I have to get back to work. My nephew is graduating tonight so I am going to try to get out of here early today. Give Scooter & Juneau xoxoxox's from us. Mona
Hey Carolyn and Scooter! So good to see you here on mycorgi too! And thanks so much for the support on Addisondogs' forum for me and Bryson :) I didn't realize Scooter is your service dog, it must be so hard to watch your mighty little helper go through a debilitating disease herself... but glad to hear that she's doing better! Bryson's also doing much better after only 2 days of treatment. Can't tell you how relieved we are! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! -Ivy & Bryson
Thank you for adding that to the group page, I think I entirely looked over the "add a comment" section! Haha, now I know. I hope you and Scooter have fun at the beach, that sounds like fun! Sadly, Gordon and I won't be able to go because we feel he's just a bit too young (and hasn't finished his shots yet), but I wanted to let others know in case they have older Corgis that could go! Thanks again! :)
I was loking thru the water corgi pics and got really excited to see your
scooter!!we have a siskiyou's corgi also and our merlin looks like your scooter!!Merlin's just a week past his first b/day,so he's not as filled out as your scooter. Our other corgi Keri is also from oregon, but is a cousin to
Merlin.
hey carolyn!our boy Merlin is a product of siskiyou's silent nite x (stud)
and winterflower farm's pearl (dam).the body styles of scooter, merlin and my grandpup logan all look so similar!!Keri is a cousin. Her mom is

I've been wondering how life is treating You and thought I'd leave a message in case You stop by.Not sure if a new dog is in Your home or in the future?Take care and know a fellow corgi friend is thinking of You :).
I'm Wendy and I started the Corgis Remembered group in tribute to my wonderful Corgis that are still in my heart. Scooter certainly was too young and I can only imagine the whole in your heart. But, in my experience, nothing helps the healing better than a new puppy to love. Just saying the name Pippin makes me smile. Can't wait to see more photos and hear puppy stories. Corgi kisses from mine to yours.
Oh,Carolyn!!Glad to get home from Our short beach trip to see I had 2 notes from You!!The pics of Pippin are adorable!!Such a dainty-looking little girl!!Oh believe Me,I kow exactly how it feels.I couldn't even look at a pic of My soulmate Ali for over a year.We all love Our dogs, but sometimes that real connection is made that grabs Your heart and won't let go,no even with death.I'm sure You'll love Pippin, who knows!!It could happen again!!A big corgi hug Your way,My friend :).
Carolyn, thank you for reponding so quickly. We know Addison's is very treatable and I am getting over my initial shock (and crying). I never expected something like this with Marty, he is only four! I do not know yet what doses they will be prescribing for the Percorten-V or prednisone. We will be discussing that with the specialist tomorrow. Marty is at the Maine Veterinary Referral Center in Scarborough which is a specialty practice and emergency hospital. I plan to join the AddisonDogs.com suppport group. I am sure to have lots of questions so thank you for being willing to answer them! It is reassuring to me to talk with someone who has delt with this and to know that Marty can live the fun-filled life he so enjoys. He is such a happy little dog and is my shadow. Seems strange to not have him at my feet right now but he will be home soon! Did the treatments/disease change Scooter's personality at all? (Sorry to hear of her passing)
Thank you so much for all the great information. It has really been a help to me to know that I am not alone, that this disease is manageable, and that Marty can still be the happy little dog that he has always been.
Marty is on Percorten, his initial dose was 1 ml. (25 mg) and his Prednisone dose is 2.5 mg daily, for now. He came home yesterday and is doing well. He still seems to be lacking energy but is not having tremors and his Na/K are normal. The Prednisone is making him need to urinate a fair amount. He actually had to go out in the middle of the night which he didn't have to do even as a puppy. He still seems tentative about going up and down stairs so I think he still has some muscle weakness in his back legs. I ended up sleeping downstairs on the couch with him last night because he didn't want to go upstairs to bed and didn't want me to carry him up either. With that said, I know he is feeling better because he had the energy to herd the cats around this morning (much to their dipleasure (-: ) and he did go up the stairs to wake-up my 16 yr. old son. Marty likes to get on his bed and like his face to wake him up.
I joined the AddisonsDogs forum and they are awesome! I know I will be consulting them a lot! Thank you for the details about Scooter and how she behaved the first few months. I was worried last night when Marty still seemed so tired. But he had been through so much and being away from us alone would be stressful for him.

I am not sure why he doesn't want to go up the stairs. The Addison's dogs group is great! I am feeling less overwhelmed with his treatment etc but you are right the cost of this disease is significant. My vet is so expensive for everything! They want to charge me $242 for the bottle of percorten and to run just the electrolytes will be $66. Also, when I discussed decreasing Marty's dosage of predn. and percorten, my vet said the 1ml. percorten and 2.5 mg pred. will be what Marty's should have. I know that is not correct after discussing this with the moderator's on Addison's dogs. With the help of all of you who have lived with this, I know I can be Marty's best advocate. I will be checking with Petmeds and discussing getting the med.s through them with my vet. If they are unwilling, I will find one who is. I am taking this one day at a time.

Hi Carolyn and Pippin,
Marty is doing well. Every day he seems to have a little more energy. He can go through the night without having to go out to the bathroom which is great!
