Corgi lover! I also love to go geocaching and Daisy is my official Caching Corgi! Scout is in training. ;)
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Daisy is a red and white female born on 12/20/09 and our new pup, Scout is a tri male born November 14, 2011. I didn't know what I was getting into with these corgis and have completely fallen for them!! I definitely have Obsessive Corgi Disorder and I am proud of it! Daisy and I have been doing agility since April 2011 and LOVE IT!!!
Our old dog Jessie died October 2011 and we still miss her terribly. :'( She was a true Heinz 57 but I think she had some corgi in her somewhere. She was such a sweet dog and the reason I wanted to get a corgi.
Lets try this again and see if I can remember to click the "add comment" button this time. Thanks for the welcome. That is Mickey who like most corgis is a little ham for the camera but he puts up with me putting hats and shirts and other nonsense on him. We just adopted Belle back in March so I don't have as many pictures of her.
That Daisy is a beauty! Tell her corgis were put here to be spoiled rotten and there is nothing wrong with that.
Hey Kara,
Hubby & I had discussed trying out Geocaching before - he is a very technology related guy so he heard about it from one of his tech shows / pod casts. Anyway, when you mentioned it at the meetup we started talking about it again and have signed up. If you want to friend me on the Geocache website my tag is Ladybug650.
Hope to see you at the next meetup!
Michelle
Looking forward to geocaching with the corgis as well! We could probably also use some tips from a veteran - I see you've been doing it since 2009!!! I agree about the heat, we are definitely up for early morning before it gets too hot :)
Welcome to the group, so glad you could join us! I'm sorry for the delayed welcome, I've been busy starting up a side business in addition to my full time job.
Even if you don't think you're a veteran cacher, you still have waaaay more experience than us newbies with our 30-something finds :). Anyway, we are pretty low key about it so far. It's been a way for us to get out and about more and we are hoping to meet others that enjoy it as well. There is a local meetup the 20th so we are going to check it out and get a feel for how serious these folks are. Thanks for scouting the park! I just don't think the Sugar Land park has been around long enough to have as many amenities as we've become used to! See you soon!
It was so nice to meet you! I hope Daisy keeps all those puppies in line, and helped you on your Geo-questing! Look forward to meeting you again, next month.
Aw well thank you as well!! He is full of energy today. I'm having to calm him down a little which is a good thing! That Pudge does look like a cutie. Can't wait to see you all at the next meet-up!
Thanks everybody for all the kind words of encouragement and prayers! Still no word on her, but were trying to stay positive!
Please pass the flyer onto all your contacts, I'm not sure if this is just a local incident or not and the more people that get contacted the better her chances of being found are.
hi Kara! I was telling a friend who wants a corgi about how you know of somebody who just had corgi/aussie pups and he would be interested in talking to that person about adopting one of them. if you wouldnt mind getting an email or other contact info, my friend would really appreciate it but if not then that's ok too! it was nice seeing yall yesterday- johann has been recooping all weekend lol take care!
awh thanks a bunch.. i love having him around, its amazing for me. i cant stop obsessing over his ears:) i love the slight backwards curve they have at the top, its so charming:D
Thanks. They are a joy to have around. Your baby bht I could eat up, he is so cute. Makes me miss Finn being so tiny. He just got neutered at 6 months and weighed in at 21.5 pounds! I read that you do agility with your cute girl Daisy. I'm hoping to start Carly in agility soon. Maybe once we thaw out from winter.:)
Hey Kara! That's great that Daisy is doing so well! Tucker is definitely not ready to compete yet, but he's really been a star in his class. It definitely comes naturally to him. He is super FAST! The course that we go to is outside, so class is dependent on the weather. They've had to cancel a few lately. He is working off leash now, which was a scary thing for me. We're doing about 3-4 obstacles at a time now, including things with contacts that he has to wait for me to release him. The weave poles are difficult for him; we're not quite there yet.
Last class our trainer moved the location of a tunnel into a shadow and a lot of the dogs were hesitant to go through it. So she had us line up and just do the tunnel. Tucker could care less about the tunnel, so it was no big deal. He comes out the other side, gives me a naughty smile, and ran right back into it. He was running all around, back and forth through the tunnel. SO EMBARRASSING. Wouldn't come for anything, and everyone was waiting on us. Finally he just came, stood in front of me, and let me put his leash on. Such a corgi!
I'm not sure if we'll be ready to compete by May, but it'd be fun to go and watch!
Hi,Kara. Our girls are doing great. It's so funny watching them play. Taffy is still so tiny, she's only 4 lbs. But she rolls around with Izzy like they are the same size! We're so happy we got her. We do need to get together. Hope it's soon! Have a Happy Easter!
Hey Kara! We've planned a last minute anniversary getaway to Galveston May 4-6th, so I won't be able to come to the trial. :( However, we are bringing the dogs, so I'm sure they'll get a kick out of the beach.
What kind of contact have you trained Daisy with? I'm doing 2-on-2-off with Tucker, but he hits the bottom of the contact obstacles so fast, it's a challenge. He ends up skidding off.
Hi,Kara. My co-worker was at your meet last weekend. She is a member of the group that hosted it. She told me there were some cute corgis there! Bre really wants to get Taffy in agility. When will you practice next? Bre will be in SanAntonio this next week with the Girl Scouts but will be home next weekend. We really need a meet up. Didn't go to the Boneyard because Bre couldn't go. She said it wasn't fair because she is a Corgi Mom and couldn't attend! LOL Hope to see all of you soon! Ann
4 Paws Kingdom was a lot of fun. Everything there is set up for the safety and comfort of the dogs. The owners have 2 Corgis, so we got the royal treatment. My husband and I don't own an RV, so we drove there in our car and rented the RV. They also have cabins, but they are smaller than the RVs. The 8 dog parks include one with a pond, one with agility, another with rally, small dog park, etc.
Asheville is a little over an hour away. Very dog friendly, but you can't take them into the Biltmore Mansion. Luckily, my husband and I had been there about 5 years ago, so we didn't go there this time. 4 Paws also will walk your dog (for a fee) if you are going to be gone all day, so you could check out the Biltmore. Well worth it.
That would be a LONG drive for you, however. Texas to NC... about 16 hours!
We drove 10 1/2 hours. We did it in 2 days and planned stops at dog parks along the way. We planned the whole vacation around the dogs!
