My husband and I will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary on July 23, 2011! Have 2 human kids and 2 fur kids. I now have the four kids I've always wanted. :)
Name: Lance
Breed: Cardigan Welsh Corgi(Blue Merle)
Birthday: October 30, 2005.
Current Age: 8 1/2
RIP 5-3-14
Was an only dog for 5 years, but not anymore! Learning about sharing, I hear sharing is good. :) I have corgi buddies already so hopefully it wont be too hard to share with my brother.
Lance is a pure breed cardigan corgi, at the moment he may appear like he is not because his ears are floppy. Lance is dealing with auto immune issues and vasculitis of the ears which affects the blood flow in his ears.
Name: Tucker
Breed: Red and White Pembroke. Was rescued from the
shelter March 6, 2011
Birthday: October 12, 2007
Current Age: 6
Tucker is a sweetheart, seems quite comfy here. :) So glad to be out of the shelter. I was so sweet the first time I met my potential owners I gave them lots of corgi kisses, I stole their hearts. <3
I tried sending you a message from work, but it won't let me. I wanted to let you know Noodles got his teeth cleaned last Wednesday. No teeth had to be pulled, but he did have a puss pocket, so he is on antibiotics for the next 10 days. They had to shave a little portion of his right front leg from where they did his bloodwork and then a really small section on his back left leg. I'm not sure what went through there, but I felt so bad for him. He was so out of it when I picked him up that he fell asleep in the car on the way home. I ended up putting him in my husband's arms after we ate dinner and he promptly fell asleep and was snoring all night long. It is done and Noodles has lost more weight and is down to 35 pounds. I'm so proud of him.
Thank you so very much for the nice welcome. I will post more photos of Holly as I receive them from the breeder. We are going to visit Holly tomorrow so I will try to get some more photos of her and post them. The end of July when we can bring her home won't come soon enough! She will be the first Corgi we've ever had but we have heard so many great things about the breed.
Hi! I got busy with family stuff and haven't been on this site as much as I'd like. Thanks for noticing! How are you? How is Lance doing with his autoimmune stuff? I hope he's doing better. Is he on steroids? What's doing with Tucker? RR dodged a bullet when the vet decided not to do surgery for a torn ACL. It seems to have been healing itself. Lucy and RR have really bonded and it's makes for a much more peaceful home!!! Wishing you and your fam a healthy and FUN summer.
Thanks for asking about Sparty. He is hanging in there with pain meds and still eats, walks a little and picks on the doberman so as usual. Unfortunately the sore front leg seems to have aggravated the partially torn CL and now his back leg isn't good either. I just let him walk short distances and then put him in a stroller. He doesn't love it but it works. Hope your summer goes really well!
Thanks for the welcome. It's great to hang with other Corgi lovers. Since Dillon is my first Corgi, I am learning lots about the breed and their quirks, and have some questions about some of those quirks, too. Quirky, but lovable. Can't imagine not having a Corgi now.
Thank you for the comments on my photos! i love giraffes! Im still learning this hole corgi website even though i have had mine for a while! But i just wanted to thank you ;)
Natalie! Hello! I'm sorry I'm just getting back to you. We've had a whirlwind of a year. Mila's ears did get worse, and then they fell. But now the redness has gone away and we're left with scar tissue. The ear itself (internally) is healthy. The vet is, however, concerned that the scar tissue has closed up the ear canal so much that they could become easily infected. She's been on steroids, oral and topical, and on a kangaroo/sweet potato diet for a couple months now. There's talk of possible surgery that would remove her ear canals, but I'm doing everything to avoid that. So that's where we're at now!
We don't know what level of lymphosarcoma Owen has. If we had chosen to go the chemo route, then they would have done additional testing to find that out. The vet now says that he could have a couple months or up to maybe 4 months left. He's been on the steroid treatment for about a week and a half and seems to be responding well. His largest tumor has shrunk quite a bit. However, even though his voracious appetite hasn't changed, he is now losing some weight and seems more tired at the end of the day. I've upped his calorie intake and will call the vet today to see if there's something else I can give him...some kind of puppy Ensure or something. ;) Thanks again for your concern. I'm so sorry about your brother-in-law...cancer is just a horrible thing - no respecter of persons, age, income, and apparently human vs. canine, either. :(
Her dad is Pynewoode Touch of Frost...not sure about mom. When talking to her breeder, when I heard that she and my boy, Panda, had the same dad, that was really all I needed to know! :)
Oopsy! Lance's ears I meant! I'm sorry to hear about his autoimmune disease. Do you mind if I ask what he has? He's just adorable, master corgi in disguise!
Wally was actually the first corgi (still acts like a spoiled punk sometimes too lol) Eva and Oliver are our rescues. It's cute because the two of them have a special bond. Mike and I are always saying its like they're telling each other "it's cool, I get it...I lived without love too. We got it good now!" Oh the trio...they make life worth while, and Mike too of course! hehe
Lance is very lucky to have such a loving mommy that takes such good care of him! I empathize with the little guy and his autoimmune disease as I have one too. Tucker and Lance must have an amazing relationship! I don't doubt that Tucker probably knows when Lance is having his bad days and takes care of his bro. Oliver has hip dysplasia and sometimes on our walks, he slows down. Wally usually has a nice trot going but as soon as his bro slows down, he's walking by his side. All animals, corgis in particular (lol am I biased?) have such distinct personalities and amazing therapeutic effects, towards humans and animals! Lance is a lucky guy to have you and Tucker in his life! =)
Hello back to you! Work is keeping me rather busy. We are working 6 days a week and long hours. I'm actually at work right now taking a quick break. Noodles is doing better. His personality is coming back and he isn't running with his head tilted towards the right side. His right ear constantly shakes though. It seriously looks like it is constantly cold because it just gives a little shake. It doesn't seem to bother him. His right eye is remaining gunky, so I keep cleaning that out on a regular basis. His 3rd eyelid is still there, but no longer comes up when he blinks. It hasn't gone back to its normal position quite yet. We are at the 4 week mark. Noodles is glad he is able to take light walks again since there are so many new smells with spring being here. Thankfully those seizure like episodes only lasted 1 week. I think that was the longest week of my life. It is good to have my baby boy coming back to me. I will say one thing though, he is even more stubborn right now. I just keep telling myself, he is still injured, so I have to give him time to heal. Thank you for checking on him. How are the boys doing? I loved the video of Tucker finally playing with Lance for a bit. I miss hearing the stories of your boys. I don't get to spend much time on the site either because of being so busy here at work. Talk to you later
Hello! Yes, I did get your message, though it took me a while to notice because there's never been anything in my inbox before. :) I think your friend is right about them being distant cousins.
No concrete plans as yet. Are u serious about a buddy? Is their a possibility that he may feel lonely despite of my love. One of my cats is a sweetheart and might become his buddy. But do tell. Am scared about adding a dog to the family cos of the number of cat kids that I have. Your experience with thebreed will be handy. Thanks for your help.
regarding Abbigail... I posted a cople of video clips of her at her loudest and bossiest. If you have any insight I would appreciate suggestions
