About My Corgi(s):
Name: Lance
Breed: Cardigan Welsh Corgi(Blue Merle)
Birthday: October 30, 2005.
Current Age: 8 1/2
RIP 5-3-14

Was an only dog for 5 years, but not anymore! Learning about sharing, I hear sharing is good. :) I have corgi buddies already so hopefully it wont be too hard to share with my brother.

Lance is a pure breed cardigan corgi, at the moment he may appear like he is not because his ears are floppy. Lance is dealing with auto immune issues and vasculitis of the ears which affects the blood flow in his ears.

Name: Tucker
Breed: Red and White Pembroke. Was rescued from the
shelter March 6, 2011
Birthday: October 12, 2007
Current Age: 6

Tucker is a sweetheart, seems quite comfy here. :) So glad to be out of the shelter. I was so sweet the first time I met my potential owners I gave them lots of corgi kisses, I stole their hearts. <3
I have:
Both Pembroke and Cardigan

Noodles is doing much better, thank you for asking. Today is his 8th birthday, so I did a little blog post with a puppy picture and a current one of him. The festivities will be after work tonight. I can't believe he is 8 years old. Where has the time gone?

    How are the boys doing?

  • Bev Levy

    Thanks Natalie!

Natalie, How is Lance's health. Were you ever able to get him on lower doses of anti-inflammatory drugs? I hope he is doing well. Tucker sure acts as if he has found a super good home!!

  • Lois B. Allen

I am so glad Lance is doing well. He is such a beautiful fellow. My 2 are doing fairly well. Randy has always been hyper but 2 - 3 months ago I started giving them fish oils and he started to be calmer so I have recently bought a more expensive brand with hopefully a reduced likelihood of having any traces of mercury. He still goes bonkers if the doorbell rings so friends know to call me as they are leave to come or as they get here and I unlock the front door in hopes that they can get in before the craziness begins. But he is still a very sweet boy as most corgis are.

Natalie, I did a lot of reading and found that many people are deficient in Omega-3s and that they are very beneficial and even necessary for proper brain function so I started buying a very price one for myself. Look at: http://www.swansonvitamins.com/ They have quite a variety of products in the Omega-3 category so you can find a wide range of strengths and when you buy their own products, you will find that they have very reasonably priced. There is shipping but I would expect that the strength that Lance takes can be gotten cheaper there plus you can get weaker varieties that are good for other animals and people. I am at an age where maintaining brain function is essential and I'm glad that I learned about omega-3s.

Hello, thanks for the welcome! So glad to be here and meet come corgi friends for our little guy!

  • Kristi

Thank you so much! we are looking forward to the adventure of becoming dog people and corgi owners! This site has been so informative and I'm glad I've found it before getting the doggy! :)

  • Lois B. Allen

Natalie, Did you get the medium or large Kong sqeaky ring?

  • Lois B. Allen

Thanks for the reply Natalie, I ordered the large size tonight!! We await eagerly!!

  • Lois B. Allen

Hey Natalie, The new purple wonder ring arrived today and I was most excited. As you might guess, the dogs could have cared less. One time, I threw it down the hall and it went off into the front room and Randy ran after it and I was happy to hear squeaking. But the little devil came out speaking his $1.75 Dollar general green thing. He especially likes green things. i had wanted a green ring but Amazon didn't allow for color selection so we have a purple one which no one but me likes!! I have some new split antlers due tomorrow in celebration of Reese's second year with us. She will like those!! At least, I think she will.

  • Yuki & Ellie

Aww, poor Tucker, haha! He's probably bouncing off of the walls since he's been penned up. If only they'd know to rest on their own... :)

  • Alison Prasavath

Glad you enjoyed Noodles pictures. It was a lot of fun doing the ugly sweater 5k and we will definitely do it again next year. It was great seeing how famous Noodles was. Apparently a regular corgi is obviously adorable, but a corgi in a sweater & hat is just too much for people. Noodles is thankful that he isn't a celebrity since it tired him out.

Oh Natalie...we have French doors and so when the dogs go out the cold air fills the room. Today it was -1 but they are predicting -15 for a high next Monday and that doesn't include any windchills...I literally have to watch from the door to make sure they get back in soon or they are coming in on 3 paws:(

  • tatyy

Hello and thank you for the welcome

  • Nicholas

thank you. It has been really nice here as of late. I hope your inlaws are enjoying it, my dogs sure have.
  • Jane Christensen

    Hi Natalie,

This weather is crazy after 2 nice winters...I guess we have to "live with it". How's the weather there?

  • Jane Christensen

Hi Natalie, Sorry your family is moving further away! Where are they moving in Minnesota? Sometimes I swear we are colder than northern MN. It's only a little over an 8 hour drive of coarse that depends where they are moving. Autumn in MN is spectacular...good time to visit them:)

  • Lydia J Hilles

    Thankyou for the welcome!

  • Jane Christensen

We had 40's here too the last couple days:) Ended up in the ditch Monday AM...should be to work before it hits on Thursday! Planning on packing to stay...if the weather gets bad(: I can work for others if they can't get in. Since I drive 35 miles one way...I can't take the chance!

  • Jane Christensen

So do I(: We had 2 very mild winters so I guess it was time...My car has enough extra winter stuff in it that I could last 24 hours...when I went in the ditch on Monday I was able to sit and enjoy my roll and coffee as I waited about 2 hours to get pulled out...haha!

We still miss him so much and Thor's anxiety has gotten worse since then, that's why we are looking for another Corgi. One, they are the cutest things and two, Thor seemed to really love him. He loves Alice our son and daughter-in-law's Corgi/Pekingnese.

Hope we can find another one soon :)

Thank you for all the nice comments! :) I got Evo's bow-tie from a shop on Instagram, I am not sure if you have one, but if you do the shop name is @k9creations. (Here's the link! instagram.com/k9creations)

I lit a candle for you and Lance last night, loving thoughts coming to yo both. Anna

You're very welcome! How cool! We live in northern Arizona, so it doesn't get as hot at it does in southern Arizona. The high in the summer is usually 85 degrees Fahrenheit and cools down a lot at night, then in the winter we get a lot of snow! An average of 103 inches. Though this winter wasn't that great! It is nice being able to drive a few hours down south and have warm weather if we want a break from the cold in the winter. :)

  • Doglover

Hi, thanks for your responses and inquiries. We are planning to wait a few weeks (to see if his levels decrease) and then take him to another vet for a second opinion. It looks like isolated ALT is common in dogs, and he's otherwise acting completely normal, so I hope it'll turn out to be nothing. Will keep you posted.

  • Randi

Hi, and thanks for the question about using a soft-sided crate in me car. I have read online that soft-sided crates can collapse and fold over the dog in extreme braking. Upon impact the soft "tent-like" crate can engulf, and smother the dog, if the animal is sent lurching forward. I really don't know though, but that scared me. I received my ipuppyone air mesh harness two days ago, and it was a breeze to fit on adolescent Izzy. Hope, it works.... Thanks, Randi.

  • Laura and Tommy Jefferson

Hi Natalie, thanks for accepting our friendship! I was so sorry to hear about Lance's passing. He was such a beautiful little guy. All my sympathies to your family :(

  • Alison Prasavath

Hi Natalie - Just wondering how you all are doing? Did you end up taking Tucker to the vet?

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Helllllloooo. Long time! I was so happy to see a message from you. Hope all's well. I haven't been on mycorgi for most of the year bec. I've gotten busy with FB (which I was never on) to help plan my HS reunion. I plan on dropping off FB as soon as the reunion's over and get back onto mycorgi. Lucy and Ricky-Rafa will be going to NY with me for the summer. Hope to speak to you more.

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

OH NO. I just read about Lance's passing. I am so very sorry. How's Tucker doing? And most of all, how are you doing? My condolences. Big hugs. Wendy

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

It's so hard. I try not to think about Lucy's age. How's Tucker doing? Is it too soon to think about another Corgi? Thinking of you and knowing how big a loss this is.

  • Taylor & Sterling

Hey Thanks for commenting on Sterling :) This is the breeder's FB https://www.facebook.com/kirkwood.corgis?fref=photo . She has been GREAT. Sending pics and videos and whatnot as they grow. This breeder emailed me a week ago about her blue merle litter but I already have Sterling http://www.sunkissedkennels.com/ . Maybe she has some unclaimed still :)

  • Rebecca Marie O'Bryan

your welcome Natalie, im sorry it took so long to get back with you but i hope you are doing well. this site really is amazing and supportive. we are all here for you *hugs*

  • Bev Levy

Thanks for the Birthday wishes! We are in Northern Michigan for the month of July and I love it here. It has been a pretty cool summer but since I am not a beach person, I am fine with it. Watson and Izzy are having fun too. I hope you are all doing well. It is really strange only having one dog isn't it? Still miss my lost ones and I know you do too.

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

So sorry about your friend. Life is fragile. Carpe Diem. Thanks for asking about my guys. Both are doing well. RR has been keeping Lucy very fit. It's hard to believe she's going to be 9yo next month. She looks like a puppy. She has more stamina than my big horse of a corgi, RR. But, he's very fit too. We changed them to TOTW salmon a year ago and I think it's great for them. Happy rest of the summer. And my condolences to you and your friend for the loss of her husband.

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Looks like I spoke too soon! I'm so superstitious and should have known better. xoxo

  • Carol Rea

So sorry to hear about Lance. I totally understand what you are going through. I cry almost daily about Sonny and Lucky, and you probably do too. I wish corgis could live longer. Take care, hug each other.

  • Kathy Firestone

    Thanks for the welcome!

My pup is 4 1/2 months old and is a wonderful and intelligent dog. We need to break him of his biting habit (and the herding needs to be worked on too). We've tried the yelping and the redirection with the toy but he actually goes around the toy to bite the hands. Sometimes it's just mouthing but most of the times he thinks we're a chew toy. Any other suggestions we could try?

  • Carol Gough

Thanks for the welcome! My two just turned 8 earlier this month. Our little girl is dealing with addisons disease but with the right medication she seems to be doing well.

  • Yuki & Ellie

Hiya Natalie! :) All is, indeed, well with the family. I hope all is well for you and yours, too~!
