When I got my Addy I didn't know there was such a thing as an undocked Pembroke. She was a rescue, and the shelter thought at the time that all Pembrokes were born with naturally short or docked tails, and that Addy was therefore a Cardigan. And I, being unresearched, believed them. WRONG!
I now know Addy is an undocked Pembroke, and her tail is such a huge part of her personality! She is the ONLY dog I have seen that can chase its tail and consistantly CATCH it. She chews and pulls on it like a toy. She's a nut!
But how I got an undocked Pembroke was quite by accident. She didn't come from reputable breeders - I guess they didn't even know to dock her. Finding a beeder that doesn't dock might be difficult, but maybe you could ask a breeder that normally does to leave one undocked for you? You might have to pay in advance if you do this. Or, like me, you could always look for puppies needing rescue.
This is our dog Chase we used "http://www.bluebonnettlckennels.com/" The parents are Cowboy and Angel. Angela worked with us and left the tails on. We prepaid and it took 3-4 litters until we got what we wanted. They are in Texas and we would highly reccommend them.
I have been looking at breeders and I am actually having the hardest time finding an all natural corgi. I would either want one born without or non docked.
There will be an undocked female Tri. available for adoption at the Escondido Humane Society in the next couple weeks. She is waiting for her behavior test and to be spayed if she is not already. She is very cute! Maybe a little over a year old!
Bunny, the corgi we love and live with now, has a docked tail. I'd really love to find an undocked Pembroke for our next dog. Nice to now there are others out there who enjoy the dog's tail as much as the dog,
Hello everyone! I just recently joined mycorgi.com and found this group! I'm glad to see that my Penelope isn't the only undocked Pem around! Here's a picture of her (with her tail at the center of attention!)
What do your dogs' tails look like? Do they hang down straight like a Cardigans or do they curl? I haven't seen many other undocked Pems. I attended a herding seminar for corgis last summer and my Haley was the only undocked dog. There was quite a bit of discussion on what tails looked like.
We call Willow's tail her magnificent tail! It is long and does hang in a natural curve when she is relaxed. But when something has her dander up,it fluffs and curves over her back. I love the way it wavers gently back and forth when she is happy. I love having a Pemmie with a tail!
Hello everyone! We're new to MyCorgi, and I'm very excited to have found this group! I love my Kerby's cute, bushy tail - owners of docked Pems have no idea what they're missing out on! =)
Tails are so expressive in dogs, that it is a shame when any dog is docked, whether she be a Pembroke or otherwise. Crumpet's tail is one of her cutest features :)
We have two new pem puppies, *both* with tails. They are so expressive! Thor uses his tail to show emotion more than his face, from what I've seen. I couldn't imagine having their tails removed, after seeing how adorable they are with them :)
Hello! I am looking into breeders and I would love to find a Pem with a tail who's parents have still been health tested. Can anyone make any recommendations on somebody on the west coast who can provide me with my furry healthy full of tail friend?
Hi, I am looking for a red and white Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy (with a tail). My 16 year old Basset Hound mix, Honey, passed away in my arms yesterday. I appreciate any info anyone has and to hear from you soon.
We love our corgi's tail! We had one before that had her tail docked, and we loved her, especially when she wagged her butt! However, it is much easier to gauge Baya's frame of mind with her tail in place. She makes people smile when they meet her, the tail is moving so fast, along with the rest of her body. It also helps that she is a petite, fine-boned little lady.
Any time she is in motion her tail is curved up, over her back. When she is observing something, it is in a rest position, with the tip curved up off the floor. Her tail is sleek, with just a little bit of fluffiness.
Hey, I don't know if you saw my comment in your discussion but I got my corgi (Pem) from Jane Christensen and she is a member on here also. I love my corgi and I think that she is a very good breeder and am very happy that I chose her. She doesn't dock tails so maybe you can talk to her. She also makes sure that they are healthy and will be very healthy! Good luck with your search!
Hello, I have a litter coming due in less than a week, curious if folks in Colorado or surrounding states would be interested in undocked pembroke corgi pups in 9 to 10 weeks?
Would like to know, as I have had both undocked and docked litters, much prefer to leave natural...

I think their tails look like German Shepherds' tails. They get fluffy and full when they're adults. So pretty... (c:

They are calling him a mix because he doesn't fit breed standard but I suspect he is just a Pembroke with a tail!
