About Me:
I work as a lobbyist-not a bad thing! LIve the rural life with Corgis, rescue dogs, horses, chickens, cats. Two beautiful grown daughters. If I had my choice I would quit my job, stay at the farm and raise corgis and horses!
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
We are honored by the presence of Lizzie (Q Lizzie Beth) and Fergie(FCF's Royal Ferguson) and Brodie (FCF's Little Bonanza Brodie). Recent additions to the family are Fern (puppy mill rescue and princess), Poppit (blind rescue), and accidental addition Sherman--my failure as a foster mom! Lizzie is our 7 year old Black-headed tri-color Corgi. True to the breed. It is like living with a cartoon charactor. Fergie is our three-year-old Red/White female and a real snuggle bug. Brodie is a black headed tri who is 1.5-years old. Fern is a 4-year-old red/white Corgi that was rescued from a puppy mill in January 2008 and was in Foster Care for six months! She has some special needs, but has adapted beautifully! She is quite the charmer. We celebrated her one year anniversary with us in May 09. Poppit has been with us for just a couple of months. She is a red-headed tri and she is completely blind-juvinile cataracts and small eyes--the result of poor breeding. We are working on her social skills and she is coming along. Sherman (formerly known as Denver) is a 15 month old red and white bundle of love and energy.

I found the DC Corgi group - thanks!
  • Nancy, Curtis and Triley

Hi! We got Triley from a breeder near York, PA last July. He was born in late April, so we are gearing up for his first birthday. We love having him around and want to get him a corgi brother, but we'll probably wait until he is a bit older before we get another puppy!
  • Nancy, Curtis and Triley

What fun to have so many - and they are all so cute! Hopefully I'll find more corgi's in DC so that we'll have a good group if you need a corgi fix while you are in town!
  • Patti

Kristen - thanks 4 your kind comments 4 Kai - he's resting comfortably and feeling a bit better. God Bless Rimadyl! It was horrible to hear of Basil's and your daughter's ordeal - I am so sorry you all had to go thru that. I myself will never forget the sounds of Kai's attack, and the look in his eye when I finally got him away from the Dane. just horrible. But Kai is here, and is such a good dog, true testament to his breed. sorry 4 the babble - thanks again.
  • Tracie & Emmy

Thanks Kristen. Yes, Emmy had quite a bit of black on her face when she was a puppy. I was do depressed when it started to change to red, but now I love her markings. She still has some "eye liner" marks on the outside corners of her eyes and a bit of a light black crown on the top. Brodie will be adorable however his markings might change... with that face there is no other possible outcome! :-)
  • Brian Davis

Hi Kristen - Brynn has yet to roll around in stinky stuff , hoping this doesn't change .
Thank goodness she ignores other dog poop on our walks for now ...
  • Me

Hello Kristen, I have never seen a Corgi as balck as Lizzie, and Brodie is adorable. As for Poor Potter ......... I hope he realizes how fortunate he is to be surrounded by royalty.
  • Me

I have never heard of this - what are they trying to trap in a road ditch?
  • Me

Oh dear. It sounds very nasty.
  • Colleen M

Thanks for the compliments...it feeds the boys' egos. They sure know how to use their looks to their advantage.
  • Mary Ann & Tucker

Thanks! I really am lucky, and maybe a little nutty, because everytime I've interviewed, I made it clear that having Tucker in the office was part of the package! But I work very long and crazy hours, so if I didn't do that, I couldn't have a dog.
  • Kate

Hey Kristen! Thanks for the welcome. I'm really excited that I found this page. You said it's hard to stop at just one, but you have two... do you think it's better to have more than one? I have my worries, because right now Oakley gets the majority of our attention and I don't want her to feel put out or less special. OH... and I will post puppy pictures once I get back to North Dakota and have my own computer back!
  • Kristina

hi kristen, her name is lumpia because she is shaped like a spring roll. thanks for the welcome.
  • Shannon

Muffin is doing good and she has 7 puppies that are doing great. It should be fun around here because in the next week or so their eyes should be opening. Buttercup has been feeling better this last week also plus her own stud dog has arrived. His name is Snowy. We need to get some pics of him soon
  • deelee lew

Hey Kris; Kiyo recently had her ovaries removed as she's 7 months old now and it was time for the operation. her little tummy is alll bare :(
  • Kim's_Corgi's

My current picture is Chloe. She's such an amazing dog. A bit jealous right now of Cooper...she doesn't like sharing the attention much!
  • deelee lew

Thanks Kirstin, kiyo is a big inspiration for me and a big part of why I got into photography. Glad you enjoy them too, I promise I will chronicle every part of her life on my flickr page :)
  • Hannah and Ruby

    Thanks!
  • Becca [Formally Siduri]

No bites. I think he is trying to assert himself with her specifically as she gives him a bit more leeway. Which is fine, she should. She just does not allow him to growl, as soon as he does, he is banished to floor and try again later.

We are still working on asserting ourselves...and who is in charge. Nothing unusual!

Don't you love the up and down weather? No idea how to dress every morning!
  • Becca [Formally Siduri]

We just came and had our paws washed. Sigh. I will be glad when the mud goes away. Which, in New England should be in August...
  • Kate

Hey! Thanks for the compliment on Oakley's face. We love how dainty her features are. How do your dogs do around the horses? I don't have any horses right now, but will again someday. Sounds like you have the dream life: horses and corgis! I love the picture of your red barn... beautiful.
  • Jan

Well I just adopted tucker this summer when his owner passed away and he was use to hanging with us for weekends when his owner was away , but 3 is alot ,,and he took some extra training as he was not too well behaved/trained..but doing well and goes with us to the fields to play we have a new corgi friend RADAR ,,
  • Bella

Thank you! She is a crazy one, I only wish I could have 2 running around.
  • Kim's_Corgi's

Thanks Kristen. I know what you mean about them missing the kids. Chloe is just a different dog when Jill is home. It warms my heart to see them together. My daughter is 19 also. She's a sweetheart. I'm so thankful that Chloe has such a good disposition and is happy with us while Jill is away at school. When Chloe was small, Jill and I took a trip together and left Chloe with my husband for a week. When we returned, Chloe rubbed all the skin off her nose and we had to take her to the vet. She had "seperation anxiety" and had to take prednisone. So I was a bit anxious myself when Jill went off to college but Chloe has matured more now and is now very accepting of my husband. Whew!

Hi Kristen. Thanks for the welcome. We've thought about trying diapers for Roscoe, but think maybe the smell will get trapped in his fur? It is worth a try though. Once the weather eases up, he'll be out in his yard most of the day. I know we are giving him a good life, but feel bad sometimes. The Prednisone he takes also makes him "anxious" so he runs laps around the kitchen and dining room area, sometimes nonstop! He's not allowed in the living or bedrooms unless he's on someone's lap or sofa. Never know when he's going to pee, which is mostly every 5 minutes it seems. I'll get some pictures of him and Penny, mammakita on site as soon as my daughter can help me with that. Like I said, I'm an amateur! Well, thanks again.
  • Sam & Maximus

Hi, ya we still have the tunnels although some have caved in from max running around on top of them. The snow is kind of hard and crusty now so it's a little hard for him to walk on.
  • Brian Davis

Hey Kristen - We did make it to the mountain on Sunday :) It was rainy so we went to the Gorge and saw waterfalls with Brynn on Saturday . She had a blast playing in the snow .
Cold here today , what happened to the warm weather? Guess your having the same thing ?
I put up a few new pics of the Mountain , and next week were going to watch storms at the coast ! YAY !
Hope your all doing well :)
  • Sam & Maximus

Yes, it has warmed up out of the negative temps. Now it's in the 20's - low 30's. The wind has been around quite a bit lately though. That really brings the temps back down. Max doesn't care for the wind, too many strange noises. He's only about 15 lbs right now so that wind pushes him around a little, he can't quite figure out what's happening.
  • Brian Davis

Kristen - Brynn did have snow all over her nose ! Last weekend it was sand .This weekend it will be rainy and cold so we shall see how much she plays on the beach .We hope to catch a whale swimming bye , it's that time of year .
  • penny spencer

Hi Kristen, thanks for all the doggie diaper/pads info. Went to local pet shop yesterday. Owner had a dog with similar problem, never housetrained. It was nice to talk with someone who goes thru the same thing. After talking with her I think it might be easier to just keep mopping up after all the puddles. At least Roscoe doesn't get so stinky! Only when he's gone during the night in his crate, then I give him a quick bath. He doesn't have loose stools, thank goodness! His poop is so much easier to clean up. Oh well, someone else probably would not put up with this. I've had people tell me I might consider putting him "down". No way. He doesn't seizure, but because of the steroids, he gets a little aggressive, otherwise he's adorable. His antics are amusing. I wonder if all corgi's are like that? I'd love another one, maybe a female, but don't think I can convince my husband of that right now. He does need someone to play with. Our Akita isn't really interested in him. She's so lay back and no fun for him! Well, thanks again. I enjoy chatting with you. Take care. Penny
  • Kim

He is always ready for a load of laundry! One of these days I'll scan some photos of him and add some video. I tried to get some before his amputation and now I need to get the after. His hair is coming back slowly. They really shave a lot off.
  • Kaytee

He's brand new to us :-) My first Corgi, my boyfriend's second... His name is Sam and he's 12 weeks old. He's quite hard-headed and so far has been difficult to house train, but he's getting there slowly :-) He loves playing with our cat - they chase each other through the house continuously! You're Corgi's are adorable! :-)
  • Kristen

Sounds like a good transition for Tanner. We have an elderly Black lab/Golden cross that is 14. She too is a bit picky and curmudgeony in her old age. She has her moments when she will play, but they are getting fewer and fewer. there are times when I think she would be happier at Craig's dads, where it is quiet and she would be lavished with attention. He loves her so much.
  • ChrisDoug

her name is peanut and she is a year and half, is a only 16lbs, the weather we got about 4in of snow last night
  • Kristen

She looks so petite. Peanut seems like a perfect name. 16 lbs is so tiny. We had a dusting of snow last night. Cold and windy. Four inches would make the dogs very happy!
  • Becca [Formally Siduri]

I think I am going to get the cookie cutter and the Corgi cards on Friday.

The lady who does the cat rescue is just up the street, she said if things did not work out, just bring the kitty back. I don't want to have to bring a kitty back, though. She is very helpful and my vet is very mucn a cat oriented person, so I thought I would ring her for advice as well. The other option is to just keep them apart for the time being-should said kitty candidate not be dog tolerant.
  • Cubbie

What beautiful dogs you have! Great pictures. They're wonderful animals, I'm tempted to get another one. I'm just not sure how Cub would behave with a puppy. How did Lizzie act with the addition of the new dog?
  • Becca [Formally Siduri]

I was not kidding about the term HOUSE of Cats. She has loads of them.

THAT might be very interesting to say the least.

We shall see. I will post over the weekend when we walk up the street about what we find.
  • Kim

once Tucker's hair comes back it will be less noticeable. He does whine once in a while so I guess it must be pain because he normally wasn't a whiney dog.
  • penny spencer

Kristen. Brodie is such a little peanut! Here's a picture of little Roscoe. You're right about the cartoonish characteristics. They're like little clowns aren't they. Thanks.
  • Cubbie

    Hi Kristen,
Thank you for sharing your story about Lizzie, Basil and the new pups. It's such a big decision (getting another Corgi puppy), but it's good to know it can work! Cubbie seems pretty happy, but I can only imagine how cool it would be to have a puppy corgi in the house! I'll keep you posted. -Thanks!
  • penny spencer

I like the Eddie Munster comparison! I've started using piddle pads on the floor and Roscoe does use it most of the time, even if he goes on the edge and I still have to wipe up a little. They are "scented" to attract the dog to pee there.
Why didn't I try these a year ago? Even if he uses them once in a while it will be less mess, but expensive. Oh well. Take care.
  • penny spencer

I have always had a saying, even when the kids would get messy, wait, they still do; "everything comes out in the wash". My hands are raw from bleach and Fantastic. Take care.
  • K Taylor

Thanks for the Welcome!!! I'll post pics when I can get
my camera back from my daughter. He is a handsome
little dude, floppy ears and all.....
  • Michelle and Steve

Thanks for letting us know that we can find more info about corgis! He's a great dog but there are times when we need some help, especially when he gets bored and curious.
  • Tallulah Belle

Hi - Thanks so much for the comment on my page! I hope that Tallulah grows up to look a lot like Lizzie, she's beautiful!
  • Tallulah Belle

Actually, Tallulah's brother Rufus (from another litter but with the same parents - my Dad and Stepmom own him) did that. I hope that Tallulah's head stays dark as it doesn't seem to be changing.
  • Georgia

Here's the little troublemaker...he brings ALOT of joy and humor to the house!
  • Maggie and Me

    Maggie says THANK YOU!
we love your gorgeous lil doggie family!
  • Hannah and Ruby

Thank you sooooooooo much. It's a big help.

    And Brodie is adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
