About Me:
I work as a lobbyist-not a bad thing! LIve the rural life with Corgis, rescue dogs, horses, chickens, cats. Two beautiful grown daughters. If I had my choice I would quit my job, stay at the farm and raise corgis and horses!
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
We are honored by the presence of Lizzie (Q Lizzie Beth) and Fergie(FCF's Royal Ferguson) and Brodie (FCF's Little Bonanza Brodie). Recent additions to the family are Fern (puppy mill rescue and princess), Poppit (blind rescue), and accidental addition Sherman--my failure as a foster mom! Lizzie is our 7 year old Black-headed tri-color Corgi. True to the breed. It is like living with a cartoon charactor. Fergie is our three-year-old Red/White female and a real snuggle bug. Brodie is a black headed tri who is 1.5-years old. Fern is a 4-year-old red/white Corgi that was rescued from a puppy mill in January 2008 and was in Foster Care for six months! She has some special needs, but has adapted beautifully! She is quite the charmer. We celebrated her one year anniversary with us in May 09. Poppit has been with us for just a couple of months. She is a red-headed tri and she is completely blind-juvinile cataracts and small eyes--the result of poor breeding. We are working on her social skills and she is coming along. Sherman (formerly known as Denver) is a 15 month old red and white bundle of love and energy.
I have:

Oh my goodness, I thought my Lab could shead, but my corgi puts her to shame!! I've never seen so much fur come off a dog!! HA!!
Thank you for the welcome! Rusty and I are happy to be part of the MyCorgi.com home!! :-)

    Hi Kristen.
Thank you for your kind words.
Welcome to Sweden if you want a Cardigan from here ;)
  • Corgi Mom

Merlot is the sable and Shots is the tri. I have added some other pics. We produce rodeos and have a scoreboard. Rafter my Aussie has traveled in the past with me but he is getting much older, and he only has 3 legs, so he stays at grandmas and get spoiled.

Hi, Thanks for writing. It is hard to live inthe city with Roxy. I wish I had a yard for her to run around in but there are dog parks and doggy day cares so she can get her exercise. How is life in Nebraska?
  • pat and mike

    Kirsten,

    Thank you very much.
  • Shannon

We will be out in Seward Neb for the dog show there. We will have Snowy and our dachshund Jasmine at the end of April
  • Corgi Mom

Thank you so much for your kind words. I am truly humbled that you consider the commitments that I have made in my life to be an inspiration. It is simply how I was raised. My father was a career Army soldier and retired from Active-Duty in 1973. I get my deep love and service to God and country from him. I feel that it is an honor and privilege to have been able to serve my country in the military.

Moonmystic and I didn't set out to have as many as animals as we do but we can't imagine our lives without them. Having corgis is a lot like eating Lays Potato Chips - you can't have just one. :-D
  • Shannon

I'm thinking April 26 and 27, I'll find our book tomorrow and get you the dates for sure.
  • May

Thanks for the welcome! Dexter is 14 weeks... he came home the same week that you brought your Brodie home. I love the names of all of your Corgis, very creative. :)
  • irischickster

Hello Kristen - thanks for the welcome and kind words. It is trying to get warm here in Michigan but, not quite yet. Our Mr. Big Man Spencer loves the cold weather - with only snow mounds left right now, he has to "conquer" each and every one of them. I agree with your wish of staying home and raising Corgis - now that would be the life!
  • Nicole & Baxter

Thank you! Definitely looking forward many adventures with my stubby legged pal! =)
  • Kristen

Puppies can be so much work, but I really love this stage. 100 miles an hour one minute and out cold the next.
  • andrea

Thank you! I'm excited to meet her when she's flown out here in a few months, but I'm pretty sure that I'm already in love with the peanut!
  • Lamia

What cute corgis you have! I wish I lived on a farm with lots of corgis.
  • morningstar

    thanks for the welcome!
haha my corgi loves attention indeed! :)

your corgis are gorgeous..they all look so fit and clever!
  • penny spencer

Hi Kristen, good to hear from you. How are your "kids"? and
the baby? Penny and Roscoe are hanging in there. Roscoe
does use the piddle pads (sometimes). I'm putting his stumpy little butt outside more, but it's still stinkin cold here.
Got a couple warm days, then back to winter. I'm dying to get my hands in the ground. I'm into gardening bigtime. You're in Nebraska. How's it there now? Take care.
  • Amanda

Oh sure, your dogs are really cute (aren't they all). You've done a great job with the photography. We're in the process of buying a new camera and are trying to find a good one for under $200. Do you mind telling me the price range of yours?
  • Amanda

Thanks for the info. That actually helps a lot. We're looking at a Kodak Z8121S or Z7121S. They're a lot alike and I can't decide between them. I guess easier to use is better. I want good shots though. Hmm, what do you think? I'm one of those people that can't make a decision. lol!
  • A & P

Looks like we had the same idea in our color choices! Brodie is adorable.
  • Lauren

Hi Kristen - I didn't realize how many Corgi's are in Florida. I just got Winston last week. This is my first Corgi...I was a little familiar with the breed, but still have a lot to learn. Any tips on how to stop or curb the nipping?
  • Lauren

thank you so much. That is exactly what I have started to do (as of last night). I'm trying to stay consistent so he will get it...we worked on a few basic commands over the last 2 days and he is starting to get those, so hopefully he will learn this one quickly.
  • Lauren

I'm glad to know it's not just my dog. I want him to be able to play with everyone and them love him as much as I do. I had to give him a proper name...as in Winston Churchill. I have a cat named Guenevere, so he needed a name just as formal.
  • Shannon

Hi, sorry it took so long, the show in Seward is at the fair grounds April 26 and 27. All comformation inside except the herding group.
  • Corbin

Thank you for the welcome. Corbin is going on a year now. In the picture he's about four months.
  • Eddie & Dino's Mom

Everything is going really well. They get along very well together. We are having so much fun with these little guys. It's amazing how quickly you can fall in love with them!! How's your little one's doing?
  • Lauren (Spike's Mom)

Thanks for the welcome Kristen. To answer your question, my older daughter moved down to FL this past August to help me take care of my Mom, and my younger daughter still lives in Minnesota. She is the mother of my 2 grandkids. P.S. your little Brodie is a cutie!
  • John & Ann

Why thank you-- they are very large. She has multiple ear modes, including 747 and slalom.
  • John & Ann

In this picture she was, now she is about 5.5. Still very cute.
  • Shelby Shirley

Hi Kristen - I hope I've got this right. I'm just learning how to use this website, have never belonged to anytype of website/web ring before. I see that I received 3 comments from members welcoming me to the site and I accidentally deleted yours. I did read it and was pretty sure your name was Kristen so did a search and came up with you. Anyhow...if it was you, thank you for the nice welcome and if not you well...hello! I've got to spend a little time here to figure out how to post pictures and all that good stuff. I can see this will be wonderful resource site to get answers to corgi questions. I have to go pick up from son from baseball practice so will hopefully get to look around on corgi.com later on tonight. Thanks again, Shelby
  • Amanda

Well, if you're interested we settled on getting two cameras. The Kodak EasyShare Z712IS for more fancy pics and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS3S because it's very small and easy to use. I have a terrible time making decisions. But both were under $200 each so I guess it's like buying one really nice one-you know what I mean? Anyway, now my husband and I can both be taking pictures and we won't miss a thing. lol! Hopefully we'll get some cute ones as good as yours. :)
  • Geri & Sidney

Thank you Kristen! How is Brodie settling in?
  • Diane McCormick

    Kristen,
Thanks for the kind words about my Cali that I lost in November. I will have another corgi one day, but not yet. Still missing that Cali girl.
    Diane
  • RJ Payomo

thanks for the comments. Love the photos! cheers.
  • Rachel

Kristen - thanks for the hello and consider your "rural" corgis to be greeted by my "city" corgi ;-) They are beautiful!
  • The O'Shea Report

You're right, they are cartoon characters aren't they? We feel like we are living with two little clowns!

We see that you are from Nebraska. That is where Buster was born, then he moved here with his family to Colorado. :)
  • Rachel

Kristen - you know what? When I saw Fergie I thought the same thing : what an amazing resemblance there is with George! I haven't found enough down-time yet to explore your page, but I can tell I am going to enjoy your blog entries.

George and his "Dad" just picked me up from the Celtics game here in Boston and brought me home. I have one tired Corgi on my hands right now,but he still relished the car ride. ANY car ride is a treat to him.

    Have a great night.
  • Heather

Thanks! I added more pictures today.

    Hi Kristen,

Well, the other two shepherds are my sister's, and everybody went to obedience school. They all know how to sit and stay off leash, and everybody gets along great. My Charlie boy probably thinks he is a shepherd too.
  • Karen H

Thanks, your babies are beautiful too! As I sit here soaking up the last rays of sunshine, my boys are outside barking at nothing. They can get each other going, and I haven't found a way to get them to stop. I read that you live in a rural area, so bugging the neighbors probably isn't an issue for you, but do you have any suggestions? The barking absolutely drives my husband insane!!

    Thanks
    Karen, Max and MoeMoe
  • Karen H

I used a no bark collar once (with a Saint Bernard) and it would whistle and the dog would just bark louder to cover the sound! My neighbors (who also happen to be my husband's 80 yr old grandparents) loved it. I refuse to try a shock collar, so I guess a little patience will have to be my next trick. Maybe I will difg out the no-bark collar and give it a whirl again.
Glad you liked Montana....it it beautiful, esp. in Big Sky. We like to take the dogs camping and Yellowstone is one our favorite spots (about 2 hrs from here and just over the hill from Big Sky). You'll have to bring your dogs next time for a hike!
  • CaptainCorgi

    'Ello =-)

To answer your question on the areas we were in when I took those photos of Eowyn, the one with all the water is up by a lake called "Pahranagat" which is about 100 miles north from Las Vegas, NV. The one with all the red rocks is Red Rock Canyon which is just up the road from where we live in Las Vegas. It's a very beautiful place! <3
  • penny spencer

Hi Kristen. How are you and the "kids"? The baby is darling. My Penny (by the way she had the name already before we rescued her) is a terrible "mamma's girl". Can't leave her in the house alone. She has already done major damage. She must be penned outside in a nice large covered pen with doghouse. She has broken or worn down her teeth by grabbing the galvanized fencing and trying to "escape". She has pushed the pen which takes my husband and 2 boys (21 and 23) to move. She pushed it off the concrete, then dug thru the lawn to get out. She's really bad. I see why previous ownners ditched her. It's a battle. She is a very sweet natured Akita. The vet thinks she has Cushings Disease which is fatal too! Sorry. Don't want to bore you.
I planted some seeds the other day when it was 50 deg. Then the next day we had snow and cold. Really sick of this. Plus living 2 miles down a dirt road it gets nasty during the thawing period, mud and crud everywhere! Ah, the charming country life. my kids swear they will never live on a dirt road again. Take care Kristen. Penny
  • Jennifer

Hi Kristin, I love this stage too. Your corgis are adorable. I noticed that Brodie turns upside down too. I thought this is rare for them to do. Bailey does this all the time. I noticed you have a cat, do they run after the cat all the time?
  • Dawn

    Thank you!!
  • penny spencer

Kristen. Know I just left you a "letter", but I have to share this before I have one of my many "senior" moments and forget altogether. We figured out Penny had sep. anx. the first time we left her home alone. My daughter and I came back home after shopping a couple of hours. No Penny in the house...nowhere! We noticed windows chewed up, doors chewed up, pee, pee, poop and still no dog! We have a very old farmhouse and the bedroom windows upstairs on floor level. Yep...she muscled her way out one of the windows and was on the front porch roof! 25' up in the air. We don't know how long she was up there. Wonder she didn't fall off and kill herself! She just had to get out. Listen, I'll not bother you again until I have another "exciting" story...ha.
But your pictures are beautiful. Take care. Spring is coming...I saw bulbs peeking out of the mud!
