About Me:
I work as a lobbyist-not a bad thing! LIve the rural life with Corgis, rescue dogs, horses, chickens, cats. Two beautiful grown daughters. If I had my choice I would quit my job, stay at the farm and raise corgis and horses!
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
We are honored by the presence of Lizzie (Q Lizzie Beth) and Fergie(FCF's Royal Ferguson) and Brodie (FCF's Little Bonanza Brodie). Recent additions to the family are Fern (puppy mill rescue and princess), Poppit (blind rescue), and accidental addition Sherman--my failure as a foster mom! Lizzie is our 7 year old Black-headed tri-color Corgi. True to the breed. It is like living with a cartoon charactor. Fergie is our three-year-old Red/White female and a real snuggle bug. Brodie is a black headed tri who is 1.5-years old. Fern is a 4-year-old red/white Corgi that was rescued from a puppy mill in January 2008 and was in Foster Care for six months! She has some special needs, but has adapted beautifully! She is quite the charmer. We celebrated her one year anniversary with us in May 09. Poppit has been with us for just a couple of months. She is a red-headed tri and she is completely blind-juvinile cataracts and small eyes--the result of poor breeding. We are working on her social skills and she is coming along. Sherman (formerly known as Denver) is a 15 month old red and white bundle of love and energy.
I have:

You Corgis are beautiful! So glad to have found a site where other corgi lovers can share stories, insights, pics, etc.
  • Kate

Thanks for the compliment on my fence! It was quite the adventure... but we got it done and the pups love it! My neighbor came over and asked if it was some sort of special fencing since we put it up ourselves. I just laughed, I guess I'm just used to doing things myself. I'm pretty sure that Griffen does pick up radar messages with his contraption... that would explain his random outbursts of growling and attacking his bed :D
  • Mick . irl

Thanks for your kind words. Im afraid she has not improved. Yes she is a pretty girl. Only about 10lbs overweight, but hey if I get to her age with some extra pounds, i wont mind so much. I will wait untill I see the vet again before making any decision.
  • Gail

My corgie is a tri. I saw him at 3 weeks. Can't wait to get him. We also have cats and thoroughbreds. We'll have lots of practice herding, carefully of course.
  • Gail

I'm also sorry to hear about your loss. You never forget, just realize how happy they were when you had them. I always found the best way to help was to give another the same happiness.
  • Gail

We have mares here right now and are focusing on the breeding. We have 2 racing and have had several others racing. Over the last 3-4 years we lost 2 mares to colic and 2 fantastic 2-year olds in training due to freak accidents. We just couldn't take the emotional toll anymore and are phasing out the racing. We learned about corgis from one of the farms we visited regarding our horses. Loved them on sight.
  • Calvin

Wow thanks. You guys are really active on here. I didn't think anyone would notice I signed up without any photos or anything. =)
  • Lorna

Thanks Kristen, great pics. I'd love to get another corgie but I have a roommate with a border collie who doesn't care for other dogs. One more character like Jack around and Cosmo (the border collie) will have a meltdown.
  • Yoshi

Thanks for the welcome! This will be my first Corgi so I am new to the breed. I grew up raising a pomeranian, who is a fiesty/stubborn little guy, and I'm looking forward to raising a Corgi!

Hi Kristen, thanks for the message, check out the photos I Just uploaded.

Thanks Kristen. Ender's ear just popped up yesterday...he's definitely growing up too fast.

Hey Kristen, I just want to thank you for your contribution to this site, our members are lucky to have you :)

Thanks, Kristen. I have lotsa photos of my boys. But wanted to respond quickly about Riley.
Degenerative myelopathy is the most heart-breaking disease imaginable. I have lost three dogs to cancer. It is never easy to put a dog to sleep. But when you know they are in pain, it makes the decision clearer.
DM dogs are alert but apparently not in pain. So knowing when is the right time to let them go is very hard. That is why every owner of a dog with DM needs guidance about keeping their dogs comfortable and happy for as long as possible.
Dylan is a 13-year-old red and Tyler is an 18-month-old Tri.
They actually look a lot like the two corgis shown on the right-hand-side of the home page of this Web site.
  • Colleen

    Thanks, Kristen.
I've heard good things about Eddies Wheels. My Dylan just never took to the cart. We exercise him in our spa. My husband holds him under his belly and Dylan moves his legs.Dylan also loves to play wheelbarrow. We hold him up in back and he really covers ground using his front legs. It's so good for his morale. But a little hard on our aging backs. If he keeps him going, though, we don't mind.
  • Kate

thank you for the welcome! i can tell this place will be very helpful! your corgis are beautiful.

Kristen. Glad no problems with your daughter. Is the season over now , can she still play? What will she do after she graduates? When is your other daughter's wedding? You'll be busy busy.
Mother's Day was okay, nothing exciting. My mother passed on 5 years ago and I've been really missing her. With the kids getting older and all that, I now realize how she felt about things and so need to talk with her. I do and know she hears me. I'm looking forward to fresh tomatoes cukes and beans this summer! I'll post some "nature pics" and updates of the "kids". Take care. Penny
  • Mick . irl

It went ok considering. Pretty much an old age combined with a bad back thing. She seem to be doing better, although she is a little stiffer and slower. Without the pain I might add. Thank you for your concern. Much appreciated.
  • Kristen

I just got up about half an hour ago and it is 6am here. I'm away from home at a meeting away from my puppies:o(. Have you not been to sleep yet?
  • Gracie

Thanks for the comment. We are very happy to have Gracie as part of our family! Your Corgi's are precious.
  • Kerby (the human)

    Thanks!
  • Bob Dog

Thanks. We love our kids. You also have great photos. The one with the puppy in the tunnel cracks me up!
  • john7747

Thanks for the note! I have never heard of another dog named Turbo so that made me laugh. I loved your pictures- I thought our house was crazy with puppy and kitty- I can't even imagine your adventures!!! What kind of dog is the big one?
  • Kerby (the human)

she's 6 mos. thank you for your kind words! i too enjoy your pic fresh from a swim!

Thanks Kristen. You have two beautiful Corgis!!!

thanks for the welcome! i hope my dog turns out to be as good looking as yours. I'm Japanese, and I gave my dog a Japanese name. It means "wild warrior," and it also sounds a lot like the Japanese word for "to elongate" (felt appropriate for this long-torso-ed animal!)

Three Corgis! That's a handfull or should I say a barrel full of Corgis :-)

Your pups are so cute. Did you go through a breeder? I live in NY. I've seen a New Jersey breeder online but don't know who to trust. I want to meet the pup before I take it home. So I have to pick a breeder or rescue place close by. Any suggestions?
  • Christophe Share

That's sweet. How old and what kind of special needs does this Corgi need?

That's so sad! Puppy mills should be illegal. If someone whats a pure bread, there should be a system of accredited - frequently inspected facilities for pure breads. So many animals (domesticed and not) are abused for profit.

You are more of an expert on animals than I am, so forgive me if I give advice you already know. I image you are probably already aware of diapers for dogs. I mention this as a short term solution. Since she's been in foster care; there may be still some psychological problems causing this behavior. I only mention this because this may be the root of the problem and to try this first before drugs and surgery. It would be best to find an expert animal behaviorist to help.

I agree, she looks sad in the picture. Let me know how things go with your visit and if you decide to take her.

Kristen and "kids", I've been lax in getting back with people on line lately, "gardenitis" I think! I ran to Target soon as I had an excuse to look at the corgi pic display and it does resemble Roscoe...what a beautiful tail on cardis! He's doing okay except for his attitude sometimes. Penny's pot belly is getting bigger, a symptom of Cushings. How old is your engaged daughter? My son Aaron is 23 and hopes to get married next summer. He had an interview (2nd) at Oakland University Police Dept. where he graduated from. Will let him know this week if one of the 2 openings is offered to him. Hope, hope. I hate the idea of him as a police officer, but it's his choice, and it's not in a large city anyway. My son Zach is working Mackinac Island this summer and will go back to Western this fall. Audrey-Anne is 19 with no direction or passion for anything. Hates school, hates her job, bored living at home...blah, blah, boo hoo. Less drama when they were little. I am getting too old for all their stress, you know? Love them dearly though. Getting warmer every day. Still don't see those tomatoes yet (had a freeze last week that killed some stuff and had to re-plant). Got to get new pics on. Take care.

I'm so glad you adopted her and that she is getting along with your other dogs!

    Have you named her yet?

Thats very cute! I like the name "Fern". It sounds like she getting acclimated. I hope the new environment will help solve her problems.

thanks for the welcome, we are looking forward to many happy years with our Corgi!
  • Allison

    Thank you!!
  • Geri & Sidney

You couldn't have said no...I don't think I could have either. We're only zoned for three dogs or else we'd be in big trouble!
I could not say no to Bruce, my 13 year old corgi/elkhound. He was "this close" to being put down at age 11 because nobody wanted him. He's such a sweetheart and I'm so glad I made the decision to bring him home! I know you will be so glad Fern is in your life too. I'm so happy to hear she is feeling happier now!
  • Mikko (& Danielle too)

Hi Kristen ~ we are finally getting Mikko this Sunday afternoon and I can barely wait! In the latest update from the breeder, she said he is very "happy go lucky". :) I've heard that corgis are addictive and it's hard to just have one! Do you find that to be true? Good luck with Fern, I hope she finds some relief from the incontinence! I'm so glad she has a good home. :) Have a great day! ~ Danilele

A second opinion never hurt. Little Gin still has an accident every once and awhile but mostly because I haven't been watching closely enough. It sounds more like a physical problem to me. Ginny is having some kidney trouble which is probably due to not having enough water (let alone fresh water) over the years. FYI if the puppy mill put her up for adoption chances are she's older than the rescue vet thinks- more like 5-6 years old.
  • Jamie

Thank you! All your pups are adorable. Fern looks lovely too! I'm so happy you took her in.
  • Amanda Ridgley

Thanks! Even though he was a rescued Corgi, we definitely consider ourselves the lucky ones.
  • Jenni & Dave Fields

    Hi Kristen,
Spencer is amazing! He is cutting his adult teeth now and is a bit rebellious right now, but he is the smartest dog I have ever known! I love having him around and could not imagine my life without him!
  • Erick

thanks for the warm welcome =]. you're corgis are gorgeous!
  • mikonami

do you have any after pictures of Fern yet? i wanna see a happy picture ;D
  • Mikko (& Danielle too)

Thanks Kristen! Yeah, it's a good thing Mikko is so cute ~ it helps us deal with the biting/chewing/peeing... all the joyful parts of puppyhood, haha. :) I really wanted to get a rescue corgi, but my husband wanted a puppy... so maybe next time. :) Thanks for the inspiration! I'm so glad Fern is doing well - just goes to show that love goes a long way!
  • Charlie

Thank you for the comment! I am glad you like my clothes. I actually had a whole bunch, but I'm getting too big for them now. Hey, how did you color your profile page like this?
  • Charlie

Thanks! I didn't even see that there! :)
  • Natalie, Lance &Tucker

Hi Kristen, Your Welcome. Thank You for the compliments on Lance. I am glad you enjoy looking at the pictures of Lance because I enjoy taking them. I just cant get enough pictures of him! It is always nice for people to appreciate the pictures as much as I do. Corgis are great dogs. We just got back from Minnesota and spent time with my brother in laws pembroke corgi, Isabella. I would say you are pretty busy with your corgis, but it must be great. I would like to add another corgi except I just dont know when. My daughters name is Kristen except we spell it Kristin. Either way you spell it, still is a great name!
  • Natalie, Lance &Tucker

I just realized you have a daughter named Sarah and I do too!
  • Natalie, Lance &Tucker

I really like your pictures too, so cute. I love looking through pictures, I am a picture fanatic.
