I have a dedicated love for the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. These mighty dogs in their little packages are highly intelligent, sturdy, loyal and quite entertaining. I breed the Corgi for ideal standards and great personalities. All my dogs live in the house w/me and are a part of the family.
All my Low Rider's have Champion pedigree's and go threw testing requirements to promote a healthy sound Corgi. I look for smooth movement, flat toplines, great expression, thick sturdy bone, and most importantly..MIND! My dogs get the utmost of care and love and expect the same from any puppy buyers. All my Low Rider's are fed Eukanuba and Sentinel given monthly. My puppies are raised in the home w/my family and are socialized several times a day. I have an AKC Registered Veterinarian who I have a wonderful relationship w/and handles all of the care on my Low Rider adults and pups. Puppies have their nails trimmed every week w/dewormings starting at 2 wks of age and every other wk. following the initial deworming along w/vaccinations at 6 wks before going to their new homes at 8 wks of age. All puppies are sold on a Limited Registration unless references are provided and I feel your worthy of an Open Registration. Contracts per agreement will be signed before releasing said dog. I will allow my studs to service a very selective few outside females upon my evaluation of said females and a health certificate from a veterinarian. I have acquired a Kennel License for my county which allows the county and city to come unannounced to inspect my kennel, and of course AKC. I have also acquired a Vendor's License which makes me pay taxes on my dogs. As a breeder, I feel it is my duty to educate any new owner and be there for the life of any puppy I produce and place.
Hi there! I am interested in a pembroke but I was wondering where you stand on tail docking. I would love to have an un-docked pembroke and I was curious as to how you felt about that. Thanks!
Glad to hear the girls and the kids are all good! Basso is a holy terror! LOL! I was home sick yesterday and he thought it was play time... goof ball dog! So when he was laying down trying to take a nap, I got him back... no nap time for him yesterday! LOL!
Yes, that was me. One of my goals for the next few years is to learn more about corgis, grooming, training, keeping them happy and healthy etc. Bunny came to us through the rescue group of the Golden Gate Pembroke Welsh Corgi Fanciers, from a breeder that needed to reduce the number of dogs she had on the property. We worked with an Animal Behaviorist to determine a breed, etc. before Bunny came to live here. I'm totally sold on the breed.
We go to a couple of corgi events here a year, and though they are enjoyable, I'm finding I would like to get more familiar with the 'serious' side of living with corgis.
I'm pretty sure breeding isn't for me, though learning to do agility, herding, etc and showing would be more to my interests.
Since Bunny's now 8 and probably has some residual damage from the heartworms she came with and the necessary two rounds of treatment to get rid of them, we're interested in doing some classes with her for agility etc. She does try to herd our two cats by pushing and poking them as they walk around the house.
Plus we're interested in getting another dog, probably 4-6 years old, male, maybe through a corgi rescue group. Maybe later, when retired I'll be ready for a puppy again.
Your dogs are very lovely, and your set-up for them in your house seems to be a great blend of business, realistic knowledge of what works for keeping dogs happy and healthy in the home, and having them as part of your family.
We traveled near where you live this summer. Flew into Chicago, traveled by train to Kalamazoo, MI and stayed for a week, then traveled back to Chicago for a few days before flying back to CA. Absolutely loved Michigan and that whole area.
We're planning to move somewhere in the upper midwest when I retire, smaller town hopefully with room for sheep, goats, a cow or two and of course dogs.
Nice to meet you,
Cathi
I am officially banning ur page because ur puppies are too cute, I want to scoop them all up and bring them home. I can't handle the corgi overload when I see ur pics.
Your corgi's are just beautiful! My husband and I may be in the market for another corgi in the not so distant future so we will keep you in mind. PUPPIES! *SQUEAL*
Thank you for your beautiful birthday wish post. You have a wonderful website and mycorgi page. You certainly have some well bred Corgis. Monty! likes the Enya music too! More to come in 2009!
Good Morning!
Thanks for the nice note back, I truly understand about the many benefits being with the dogs brings. As my daughter grows nearer to her own life in the world, being around corgis is one of the aspects of life that I will grow, as part of finding my own life again. I don't think I ever want to live without dogs again and am very happy to have corgis be the one.
Glad to have brightened your day with the puppies beginning to leave for their new homes. It sounds like you do your very best to place them into good loving homes. I looked at your forms page and even the paperwork to purchase a puppy for a pet or show dog show that you love them very much and want the best for them. The pictures created quite a few 'ahhh's' and 'ohhhh's' as we looked at them.
It is hard letting go of ones we love. We needed to let go of a cat we loved because of some serious health issues that were beyond what we could help with. The vet we worked with at that time offered to do his surgeries and find him a good home that would meet his needs, we live with the belief that that is what happened for him. After we helped him through three surgeries, it was clear that it would be an ongoing issue and it would be in his best interest.
Yes, GGPWCF is the group with the story about Gus the 78 lb corgi. I've talked with Amy, the one that has him, and she is hoping to place him in another home in the near future so that he can continue regaining health and happiness.
We also have been to a couple of Wine County Corgi events and I'm planning to join the local AKC group to get more into the dog world here.
Hope you Sunday and week is good, many blessings to you, your family and dogs,
Cathi
We will not be breeding them. Malibu was my wife's first dog so afet her first cycle we had her spayed. Malibu is getting ready tostart herding she loves chasing them sheep. Malibu from what I gathered is a cryptic blue so I don't think I could have breed them if we could. I believe you are right as in to not breed 2 blues.
thanks so much for birthday corgis!!! how do you get them to sit so pretty for you?? I only have two and they always move as soon as i go to snap a pic!
Hi there. I had a question regarding teeth and since you seem to know a bit about the topic, I thought I'd bug you. :) Finn will be 5 months old next week and he lost his first tooth (that we know of) last week. Since then at least, he has had this awful, fishy breath. I heard before that teething can cause bad breath but wasn't sure how true that is. Any input?
We feed Finnigan Blue Buffalo puppy food. he's been eating that since we got him and the breath issue is a new thing. I know he would eat his own droppings if he could, but we do not have a yard so anytime he goes potty, we are right there with him and make sure he never eats it. The only treats we give him are all natural hard treats made of berries, carrots or sweet potatoes and he gets some enzyme rawhide chews which are supposed to keep his teeth clean. From what you've said, it sounds like it's probably caused by tooth loss. We started mixing in yogurt with is food once a day as of yesterday because I had read that the bacteria in the yogurt will neutralizer the oder. We'll see if that really works.
I hope his ears don't fall. They were mostly up but they were looking a little too pointy so I taped them for the fourth time a coupe days ago and it made them almost perfect. His ears are definitely stubborn. If they droop, I'll worry like you did that they won't come back up. :)
I've received an inquiry from a Facebook friend from Italy. He's been breeding Pembrokes off and on since 1969. He is looking to import a female from the USA to diversify his stock. Would you be interested, or would you know of another breeder who might want to export.....?
Let's hope. That picture was taken on Monday and the tape had just come off. Today his ears are looking like they were before the last taping. I suppose will have to tape again and hope the teething doesn't interfere. We've been feeding him cottage cheese since we got him just to give him some extra calcium, but now I've switched to yogurt and he seems to like it just as much. It seems like it may be helping with his breath a little bit. Yay!
Yes, I'll send him your link. I wanted to check with you first to see if you had any interest. Meanwhile I know that it must be "do-able" at the very least, (though how *expensive* I have no idea) as I read on another Italian corgi breeder's website that he exported 3 puppies last August to the USA. In the meantime, do you have Facebook?
LOL Well, I asked only because he's on Facebook too. Here is Antonio's website, fortunately a good deal of it is in English. I finally put 2 + 2 together as he actually is the "friend of a friend," but he has a well-regarded kennel called "Delle Dodici Querce" (which means "of the Twelve Oaks) in Naples, Italy. http://www.welshcorgi.it/beato/beato.htm Check out the natural bobtails on the pups!
Corgis of either persuasion are NOT well known in Italy, but the corgi breeders and owners there are every bit as enthusiastic about them as we Americans. I stumbled across a "Facebook Italian Corgi Lovers" group sometime back (which I joined) and as I speak a bit of Italian, well.....the rest is "history!"
Do you have a picture of her? I'm sorry she wasn't feeling well. Finnigan didn't like the car at first but now he's adjusting to it. He would pant but rather than just panting he had this rhythm of opening and closing his mouth so it looked like he was talking and I'm sure that was anxiety. Now I buckle him into his harness and he just lies down. He never drooled though. Do you plan on showing her or is she just a pet?
Aww, she's so cute. Since you will be showing her, I hope she gets over her fear of car rides or that might make things difficult. I'm sure she'll grow out of it.
Yes, you might find that he has a rather flattering and flamboyant manner of expression! :-) I am glad that he has at least made a connection with you, and has acknowledged that he's got a fault that needs attention. Meanwhile, if there's anything you might want translated, pass it by me. My Italian is probably at a backward 2nd grader's level, but I can certainly wing it for a fast translation. For any serious translations, I can get English-fluent friends to assist.
Thanks for the welcome. I made the cake for my daughter's birthday party...I was surprised at how much it ended up looking like Aslan. I loved the pics of your corgis playing tetherball and the puppies playing in the snow.
