I work as a lobbyist-not a bad thing! LIve the rural life with Corgis, rescue dogs, horses, chickens, cats. Two beautiful grown daughters. If I had my choice I would quit my job, stay at the farm and raise corgis and horses!
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
We are honored by the presence of Lizzie (Q Lizzie Beth) and Fergie(FCF's Royal Ferguson) and Brodie (FCF's Little Bonanza Brodie). Recent additions to the family are Fern (puppy mill rescue and princess), Poppit (blind rescue), and accidental addition Sherman--my failure as a foster mom! Lizzie is our 7 year old Black-headed tri-color Corgi. True to the breed. It is like living with a cartoon charactor. Fergie is our three-year-old Red/White female and a real snuggle bug. Brodie is a black headed tri who is 1.5-years old. Fern is a 4-year-old red/white Corgi that was rescued from a puppy mill in January 2008 and was in Foster Care for six months! She has some special needs, but has adapted beautifully! She is quite the charmer. We celebrated her one year anniversary with us in May 09. Poppit has been with us for just a couple of months. She is a red-headed tri and she is completely blind-juvinile cataracts and small eyes--the result of poor breeding. We are working on her social skills and she is coming along. Sherman (formerly known as Denver) is a 15 month old red and white bundle of love and energy.
Thank you for the nice comment! That's my son's Senior picture. I wanted a picture of my boys. I almost lost Chester in May to diabetes so I wanted to make sure I had a really nice picture of my baby. :o)
Chester is GREAT! He's now 12 and he seems younger than he had been the last few years! I almost put him to sleep when I found out he had diabetes, but he is my "soul mate", been with me through thick and thin, so I decided that I had to try everything I could to save him. He gets two shots of insulin a day, along with his meals, and NO IN BETWEEN SNACKS! That's the hardest because he's a bottomless pit when it comes to food.
He's lost 13 pounds (he was 55 lbs when he was diagnosed!!!) and he's got a few lumps on his body, but basically he's very healthy now! I never expected him to live this long after he was diagnosed, but he's still going strong!
I have one son, he's 18, going on 30.........I think I'm going insane :oP
We had another Corgi a few years ago. A black headed tri, named Zorro. He wasn't even two years old when he got into the trash and suffocated on a plastic bag that had had pork steaks in it. It was devastating. I'll be posting more pics soon and I hope I can find some of Zorro, he was such a happy lil pup!
Thanks for the invite as a friend. Watched your slides, the one looks so much like our Tedi...and just as big too. I am so glad I found this sight it hurts but helps more. And Happy New Year...it will be
Sometimes I really wonder who these politicians think they are?!!!! who needs to trap in ditches???
I'm so sorry that you lost your baby in such a horrible way. How cruel.
We used to have another Corgi (a black headed tri) named Zorro. He wasn't even two years old when he ventured into the kitchen garbage and got his head stuck in a plastic bag (one of those Vacuum Sealer bags - heavy duty) it was very snug and he was so intent on getting the pork chop juices that he suffocated.
Corgis are so loyal and loving, all they want to do is be your best friend.
Yes, my 18 yr old is a senior in high school, sort of. About a year ago he developed an anxiety disorder related to school (because of a teacher!!) He's in a homebound program through the school, but it is awful. It's only a Pass/Fail program so his GPA can't be raised and he had flunked a few classes just before this disorder set in. We're hoping that he can still attend a smaller satellite campus for a year or so before he can get accepted to Purdue or Indiana University. For that matter, we just hope he can get to college!
Well, it's been hard, for sure, thanks, not so sure I did such a good job at it. :oP
Michael's high school class is over 900 students! It wasn't even the size of the school that was his problem. It was a teacher that harassed him in front of the class, on several occasions. He developed such a fear of teachers that he had to ultimately just quit going. We are so fortunate that we were able to get him into the homebound program. I am hoping that he can handle college professors.
Boy they sure do look alike! As far as that Senator goes have you thought about a full page ad in the local news paper or fliers by bulk mail telling what they are doing and maybe asking why? We have a City Council woman here who passed a bill on animal welfare...fee if animal is not fixed ($500), breeders fees things of that nature. Which sounds real good except they can't inforce it and animals that are not taken care of before still aren't! She should have put her energy into stiffer animal cruelty/abuse laws, dog fighting, cock fighting instead she wanted to require toys for pets!! I will be posting a tribute to Tedi on Rainbow Bridge. Thanks for the understanding.
The job pays the bills, but me heart is at home with my husband and animals. If I could make a living with that - I would do it in a heart beat. We have e horses along with the dogs. Those numbers are down from what we have had in the past - much easier to handle. :-)
Thank you so much! Sometimes I wish he was still a puppy, but then I remember all the chewing, lol. Your babies are so cute! We will be getting a buddy for Bandit this summer, hopefully a red/white. Did yours do well each time you added another one? I am a little worried about Bandit getting jealous.
Thank you so much for the advice! I think it will go smoothly and I really think Bandit will love having a little buddy to play with. Our cat doesn't give him the time of day and he tries so hard to get her to chase with him. We are planning on taking Bandit with us to pick up the new puppy, so I think that will help things a lot. I will let ya know how it goes. Have a good weekend!
Thanks for the nice words. Unfortunately I have not been to Gettysburg for 2 years now so haven't seen the new renovations. They also have made the battlefield look more like it did in 1863 so I do have to get back.
oh wow, i can imagine the hair! i just have one and it's enought to cover everything. Four corgis!! you have a little pack of corgis! do they like the snow?
Hi Kristen, thanks for the kind words and help. I don't know if it was staph but Gus was licking his paws alot and got a yeast infection between his toes. Vet said it was a chicken and egg thing, never can tell which came first. The vet called this morning to check on Gus and said if this last round of antibiotics doesn't do it they are going to want to check his Thyroid functions...
Thanks for the welcome! I hope I can find a meetup nearby, although I hope everyone would understand when I show up to a corgi meetup with no corgi! Hehe.
Well that's good to hear! I'm afraid that there might not be a meetup near here. There isn't even a group for Arizonan corgis.. I guess I'll start one and see who joins.
Hey thanks for the warm welcome! All of your babies are beautiful!! My 12 year old son's name is Brody!!! Love all of the names! I agree would love to raise Corgi's and Quarter Horses!!!
Kristen. Your Christmas photos are cute. Hope you had a nice holiday season.
I don't get on site unless I see someone on my Gmail has left a message. Life is hectic here. Dogs are all okay. We're moving my dad in with us. Early stage dementia (Alz). Best for him and me right now. I'm anxious and terrified all at once. He's doing fine but know it will be an adjustment. He will love having the dogs (his granddogs) around for company. I was just earnestly seeking employment to help my husband, kids pretty much gone, and now this. I'm overwhelmed but know this is what I have to do. Thanks. and take care, love to the babies. Pam
Kristen, it looks like you already have a picture of my corgis! I can't believe how much the picture you have up resembles KC and Tasha. Unreal, and yes, KC is like living with a cartoon. Tasha is a very bossy female, but underneath the gruffness, she's sweet. My sister-in-law is from Wahoo, and their wedding was at the Catholic church in Wahoo (several years ago), so I know where you're talkinga about. I will get some help with pictures and post them.
We plan to pick him up either the first or second week of February! I am so excited! I just hope my cats will accept the new company! If not there might have to be separations between them for awhile!
Hey Kristen, not at all. The front page coverage is automatically set to the latest 3 blog posts, it must have been a busy day that your post got bumped off the front page in a short time. If you like, I can manually put it in the announcement area, let the members know what they need to do and I'll feature it to get more exposure.
He's coming from Missouri, but I made sure I read reviews on the breeder and such. Made sure they weren't making bad corgi's you know got pictures of the dam and Sire ;) and made sure they treat them well and socialize with them and such. The breeder was really great actually, I'm quite pleased at the updates and etc.
Yeah and I sent an email to the one who is sponsoring the repeal of Basil's law stating that I hoped God would have mercy on their soul, cause I wouldn't be able to do that. Anyways, I hope it helps. The others I asked them how they would feel if it was their children or their childrens puppy or anyone they loved for that matter? So, I hope I opened their eyes a little bit.
Interesting! Brodie is a really cute Corgi. I'll Check out Cartwright because I may get another corgi, but I might rescue also. We will see though. I hope they keep the bill in place also. There is no good reason I can see for the law to be repealed.
thanks I will try to come on here as much as possible but I know once I get the little cutie that it will be hard to stop and sit here on the computer! Those cute baby days do not last! They grow up so quick! I am so nervous about Kira (my cat) reaction! She is a jealous cat! She is such a sweetie to me and she rolls over for me to pet her belly and kisses my hand! I hope this doesn't change her! Keep me in your thoughts and prayers! I know it will take some time, but boy do I remember when Riley came over. Kira spit at him and hissed! Sadie my other cat rubbed on him and loved on him so I know she will be a sweetie to the pup.
Hi! I used to live in Nebraska (in Seward). I know how strongly they support what they view as hunter's rights in that state, but it makes me mad that they're trying to repeal banning in county rights-of-way there! It seems like such a common sense, no-brainer kind of thing that would protect countless humans and pets from injury or death. I wish you the best of luck in your fight! We're rooting for you out here in Colorado, just thought I would let you know... and I've emailed the legistlators in Nebraska twice, in honor of Basil.
I am so sorry to hear about the latest update, is there anything else that we can do? organization of some kind of event? press releases to the media? viral video campaign? Interview with a reporter? Don't hesitate to ask for help, I have the capability to reach the entire membership if enough time is given.
