I've been a corgi lover since I was a kid and finally became an owner of one handsome little boy August of '08. I work at a graphic design studio by day and run an online store called K A Designs, by night.
Gibson was born 7-1-08 and came home with me on 8-23-08! He's the sweetest little guy ever and is obsessed with food and loves to chew his antler all day long!
Gibson is so cute...I love his little avatar pic! Don't worry about his neutering - it's a pretty simple procedure. The hard part is getting them to stay relatively calm during the healing period - Rhys kept jumping on and off the couch the next day! I practically had to pin him down to rein in his normal "puppy-ness"!
How is Gibson's recovery from the snip-snip? Chester just came home from his surgery. So far so good but I'm worried about tomorrow when the meds wear off. Hope all is well with Sir Gibson!
Lance is doing well. He still wants to sit outside in these frigid temps when he is suppose to be doing his business! I bribed him in with a treat and then try again later when he really needs to go!! Hes a bit bored, but handling it pretty well!! I have added alot of new pictures of Lance and still have to put more up!!! Hes been frapping more since the weather has been so cold to walk in. i love when they frap, its so cute!!! Yesterday he was going so fast and didnt even slow down to go through the bottom of the folding chair, it amazes me the places they can fit, even the cardigans!! Stay warm, talk to you later!!
My dogs do the same thing when they hear others bark when I watch videos! I know to most the video would not be that exciting but other snow loving corgi owners would. Where in Illinois do you live?
Oh my gosh! Gibson is so handsome now! Thanks so much for your birthday wishes. Hopefully we can try for another hike/get-together when the weather is warmer. Take care!
Hiya. Happy 7 months... :-) Yeah I definitely need to upload more pics...been a bit lazy about it. But I read your blog right before Caden was neutered and was relieved when he too thought everything was same ole, same ole on day 2. We did let him run around, but didn't play fetch outside until he got his stitches removed the other day... never seen the boy so happy. We just started an intro agility class and he loves the tunnels. I hope to work on those pics this weekend.
RE: Your latest blog post... OMG Caden is doing the same thing. I just got back from a very frustrating walk and logged on to see what else people are saying. (and I uploaded new pics!) When we left the house, the walk was great, but the second we headed back home, he knew it, and stood his ground and preceded to roll around in every dirt pile on the way home. I lost all patience and too feel like a bad mama. Our high value treat is cheddar cheese, which I neglected to have on me... but that's what we use for recall and heel... and works every time. But it's like.. "oh you don't have cheese, I don't have to listen to you." I know it'll be fine.. just gotta remain calm and get over this next bump in the road. ~Cindy
Wonderful blog posts! With our little girl, once she passed the six month mark, perhaps it was hormones, but she stopped walking nicely and began trying to trip us or pull us along. I worked with her every day on commands, and just like you, I felt I was starting over. We moved to a place where she could run on an acre ranch, and she calmed down. Perhaps she just outgrew her brattiness. After that, I could go camping with her and she didn't need a leash. She would lay at the edge of the campsite as a guard dog, and follow us without fail. I think it's just a phase. I've gone through the same thing with "non-Corgis". :) Hang in there!
Warmly,
Christiane
Hey Kelly, I love your page, great job! And I know this problems, Jerry looks so sweet, but insite is a little devil. Usually he went for pee in the garden before breakfast, until the day, I just saw his Corgi tail a cross the steet. So I run after him in my pj without slippers...all along the street... And I swear, he was loughing .... So, you are definatly not alone ;0))
Love the new profile pic. It totally looks like he is smiling. Caden has been holding at 21 pounds for the last 8 weeks or so. I'm guessing another growth spurt is on it's way. How about Gibson?
Great pictures of Gibson. Chloe was gated in the kitchen while we were at work and one day we come home to find her crate that she likes to sleep in moved into the kitchen and the radio CD player open that was on the other side of the gate - come to find out she learned jump on the top of her crate into the family room and then used the CD player to jump back into the kitchen when she heard us come home. She now has run of the kitchen and family room and has been doing great all day when we are at work. She if Free. She loves to look out the window and watch what is going on during the day.
Sometimes our dog doesn't walk well either. When we had her a puppy class the instructor showed me how to fix it. She took the leash and gave it a yank with a sharp command "WALK". I was hesistant to yank the leash that hard but I found it works. I had to do it for the whole length of our driveway but then miraculasly she just started walking. I guest what I'm trying to tell you is that he needs you to show him whos boss. Good luck!
Ahhh!!! I'm so excited to bring Toby to the Pawsitively Heaven Pet Resort for the corgi meet up on March 8th. Will you and Gibson be able to make it? Hope to see you there!
Tried getting Lance one of those bouncy balls and he just popped it after awhile..... : ( So I decided I wont buy any of those cause I am also paranoid that something bad will happen when he pops it like its going to pop in his mouth and get a piece of the vinyl. I thought it would have been so much fun too. I also love your Valentine pictures of Gibson, how adorable. Cant wait til the 8th when we can meet and have all the corgis play, how fun!
I was really bummed too, that he popped it instead of having fun with it!! It could have been alot of fun, but no he had to ruin the fun of it, lol. Gibson will have so much fun playing with all the corgis! : ) You brought him home last August, sweet, hes still young, not that Lance is old, hehe but it seems like we have had him forever. : )
Ronan can be a jerk, too. Sometimes he'll walk so slowly that when I look at him I know he's doing it purposely to drive me up the wall, or he'll insist on sniffing every single dog print in the snow (when he's not throwing himself down in the middle of the road to roll around in the snow while cars have to slow down -- it's quite dignifying for everyone involved). My husband says that there will always be jerky days, but fewer of them ;)
Gibson is such a cutie. I think Sophie and Gibson fell from the same "apple tree," she is our little watch dog too and she too becomes really upset if we don't pay attention to what she is barking at!
Hi Kelly, I saw your comment for the corgi meet up for the bordetella wasnt sure if you know Pawsitivley Heaven would like it to be done the week before the meetup, just wanted to let you know so you dont have problems getting into the meetup. : )
Kelly the bordetella shot is good for 6 months, have you gotten the bordetella shot for Gibson before, I also was under the assumption the only time they needed the Bordetella shot was if they were getting boarded but my vet said if they go to the groomers and stuff like that they need it, I suppose if they are going to be playing with alot of doggies its a good thing to have. : )
I've e-mailed dog.com but they haven't gotten back to me yet. Hopefully soon. I'll stay on it though! Durn-it, you'll get those 10 bucks if I have to mail them myself! O_O
YIPEEE!!! Glad you got the vet stuff squared away! Looking forward to Sunday...hopefully the weather will be nice and the dogs can run outside in the fenced area!
It was nice to meet you, your husband and Gibson at the meetup today! How awesome you drove from Sycamore to Chicago Ridge!! How long of a drive each way is that? I loved your lab/corgi tug of war video, too cute and of the meetup video was awesome as well!
Lol,, I think Lorenzo is overweighted as he is 35p now, and my husband commented as " I'm very critic to men." maybe , Lorenzo is just a big corgi...
btw, I love your meetup video.
Gibson is adorable! He has one of the best blazes ever! They only zoom because they've had so much practice. We used to go to the dog park in Virginia almost every day and now they try to take advantage of any play time because they miss it so much. It would be fun to do another play day again.
Your pups are gorgeous...yes we are huge Lost fans... we wanted a Penny
too but the breeder didn't have any girls left..just as well...we are really enjoying Desmond.....
