About My Corgi(s):
Caden was born 7/5/08 and we brought him home on 9/20 at 11 weeks.
He's now ~1.5 years old. Where did all the time go?

Profile picture is from his first birthday.

We first emailed the breeder back in March of 2008, so it was a long 6 months till we brought our pup home. It's been worth the wait because the breeder only has one litter per year and we feel so fortunate to bring home one of her little ones.

Caden is a welsh name and means spirit of the battle.
He is a PWC with a red and white coat, and maybe a bit sable, like his mama.

We've been having such a great time this past year and half. There's been a lot of laughs and couldn't imagine our lives with out him.
We'd love to add another corgi to the family but our condo only allows 1 pet,.. so it'll have to wait, but Caden is keeping us plenty busy for now.
I have:
Pembroke

Welcome! We should start a corgi meet-up for the DC area, eh? I remember when we were counting the days until we could bring Triley home - such excitement! Good luck and congrats on becoming corgi parents!
  • Alla

Nancy, Curtis and Triley, meet-up would be a good idea!
    :)

Aww Caden is just too adorable!
  • Kelly

Aww your pup is only 4 days younger than mine :) It's fun seeing other corgis his age!
  • Kelly

He hasn't lost any yet! I keep checking :) That's funny about the potty training thing.. Gibson has been perfect for almost a month but had an accident at my mom's last weekend..maybe that's a sign? I'll let you know!
  • David & Robin Fritz

    Hi there,

How much does your puppy weigh? Just curoius since ours is a runt ( about 9 lbs ). Also does yours have a thick coat yet? Our little girl has no shedding at all even when you brush her.

    Best Regards,

    Dave & Robin
  • Kelly

No teeth lost for Gibson yet, but he pooped on the carpet today...maybe one will fall out tonight haha.
  • Gail's Lil' Gizmo

what a beautiful puppy. love that face..
  • Meryl

When he's in the down position, you should place your hand over his back, guiding him as you lure him forward with the treat. Try it out and let us know! Good luck!

Hi there! Your pup is adorable. :) We would love to have a meetup with some fellow Texans. What part of Houston are you from? My family lives in West Houston, SugarLand, Richmond. My Mom was originally from the Heights.

May I add another book to your list? The Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson - a fascinating and different look at the doggie brain. ;)
  • disraeli ears

We can't make it this afternoon. Maybe we can plan something next weekend?
  • Amy Cook

Hi Caden, Jeremy and Cindy! Thanks for being our new friend! Perhaps we can all meet up at a park and have the corgis meet---great to get them socialized. Caden reminds me of Andy at the same age--cute, but always up to something! I'm excited Cindy to see that you are interested in the influence of dogs on human health. Great topic! I have fibromyalgia and some other arthritis related conditions, and I can say that my corgis keep me happy and healthy. We walk and spend lots of active time together. Enjoy your puppy!
  • Amy Cook

P.S. Your videos are amazing! You are doing so well with training. I love the ring the bell to go outside. What perfect corgi owners you are already! LOL!
  • Alla

    Hi!
I've read your entry in Maryland Corgis. There is a dog park in a Kings Farm Area, which is close to Shady Grove area. haven't been there yet, though. We can schedule a play date for our puppies! Charlie is 6 mo old now.
  • Alicia

Caden is such a cutie. Our little muffin is 10 wks old and it's hard to believe they loose all that dark looking furry fuz and turn so red and white! But I saw your babies pics he looked just like my muffin. He changed so dramatically! Precious. I also bought that 101 dog trick book this wk and I ALWAYS DVR It's me or the Dog. Unforunately we don't the channel that the Dog whisperer is on. But I saw a lot of his dvd's are available.
  • Jenni & Dave Fields

he is a handsome boy!!!! He looks a lot like Spencer (his markings and color are very similar). He looks like he is going to be a big boy!!!!
  • Amy Cook

These new pictures are great! My corgis are really hating this weather and Andy doesn't understand why he can't play ball in the rain. I actually hope it snows tomorrow because corgis just love it! Maybe we should start a corgi meet up group for the area? Or, perhaps there is one we can find nearby.
Take care! Amy, Bess and Andy

Oh yeah -- I think I voted for Cay-dog's photo.
Al wants to be on a calendar so bad, 'cause Gwynnie got to be on one once. Not sure it would be good for his ego problem; he already thinks he's a celebrity just 'cause his daddy is Cary Grant (really).
  • Alla

sorry, it took me that long to answer (these holidays!). We visited King's Farm dog park a few times. No residency proof required! it has 2 fenced places - for small dogs and big dogs. Charlie enjoyed meeting other dogs, but he really needed another fellow corgi to join his run! the park itself is very close to I-270. Here is the photo (taken by cell phone) http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/3039514702?profile=original Let's meet for a play date!
  • Kelly

How is little Caden doing?? I've missed his photo updates :)
  • Kelly

Oh that's awesome that you're in agility already! Gibson is starting a Rally class in March and then I'm thinking of doing agility in the summer.
  • Amanda & Tuck

Hi Cindy! Wow it's a small world. I have been eyeing their website for a while and in contact about a possible puppy later in the year. When I saw a note that she may have an older puppy available I called right away! I haven't met her yet but from the website and talking on the phone I can tell that Carolann is a very responsible breeder and really loves her pups. It sounds like she definitely planned to keep her but she is just a little too shy for shows and she is also little behind in weight/size.I think she said she is 17/18 pounds. She wants to make sure that Isabella has a connetion with whoever takes her home so we will see how she takes to us! I am really looking forward to going there this weekend! Hopefully things go well with Isabella but it for somse reason it doesn't work out I think I would wait and try to get a puppy from their next litter this summer. Camden is super cute! I love seeing pics of him a little older - they definitely look related. They have those same eyes! I will tell her you both say hi and let yo know how it goes!
  • Amanda & Tuck

Sorry - I mean Caden - is so cute. Didn't mean to type Camden. Guess I am not used to those welsh names!! :)
  • Kelly

Aww I'm sorry you're going through the same thing, but I guess they all do this! I actually used cheese last night to recall him and it worked! Today of course he could care less haha. Hang in there! Love the new pics btw, he's getting so handsome :) How much does he weigh now?
  • Alla

    Hi Cindy,

unfortunately, we are going to be out of town too for the week-end.Thanks for invite, though!
    What about next week-end?
  • Kelly

I though Gibson was around 20lbs or so but I weighed him last night and he was only 16! He sure looks like a porker though haha.
  • Kelly

    Ok my scale's calibration was off..he's 19lbs :)
  • Alla

Great! Sunday works for us too!
  • Amanda & Tuck

I told Carolann that I came across you and Caden in my research and told her you say hi. We both really like the Caden Tushy Shake!! I don't know if Isabella has moves quite like that! She was so sweet though. It is tough waiting to hear back!
  • Amanda & Tuck

It looks like we will be getting Caden's sister! Isabella still has to get spayed - so it will be a few weeks. I can't wait to bring her home :)
  • Ryan and Darwin

We were going to name our dog Caden too. Awesome name! My partner and I live in Germantown. Im's a grad student in counseling and Devin works as a contractor for the government. If you ever want to arrange a playdate, let me know (Darwin, our little guy, is 3 months).
  • Ryan and Darwin

We did see it on the Cori Welsh Website, lol. I grew up off of exit 9 off 270, so I know where King Farm is. There is also another one in Germantown... Additionally, the City of Gaithersburg holds its Bark in the Park event sometime in the Spring. I will let you know if and when I find out when it is.
  • Amanda & Tuck

We are getting Isabella on March 14th - less than 2 weeks to go! I don't know how you waited 4 months. I've spent a lot of time in pet stores over the past couple of days - stocking up on pup supplies! Yeah if we were closer they could have sibling play dates.
  • Jessie

Hey! I saw you lived in the Bethesda area (I live in Silver Spring) and was hoping you had found a good vet in the area. We just recently adopted a corgi and I was hoping to have a vet lined up for when he arrived. Looks like there's a good number of MD corgi owners; we'll have to set up play dates!
  • Jessie

Hey! I saw that you posted the Bethesda Strutt your mutt. We've created a new group so that Corgis in the DC/ MD area can meet up and stay in touch! Come join us!
