My husband and I will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary on July 23, 2011! Have 2 human kids and 2 fur kids. I now have the four kids I've always wanted. :)
Name: Lance
Breed: Cardigan Welsh Corgi(Blue Merle)
Birthday: October 30, 2005.
Current Age: 8 1/2
RIP 5-3-14
Was an only dog for 5 years, but not anymore! Learning about sharing, I hear sharing is good. :) I have corgi buddies already so hopefully it wont be too hard to share with my brother.
Lance is a pure breed cardigan corgi, at the moment he may appear like he is not because his ears are floppy. Lance is dealing with auto immune issues and vasculitis of the ears which affects the blood flow in his ears.
Name: Tucker
Breed: Red and White Pembroke. Was rescued from the
shelter March 6, 2011
Birthday: October 12, 2007
Current Age: 6
Tucker is a sweetheart, seems quite comfy here. :) So glad to be out of the shelter. I was so sweet the first time I met my potential owners I gave them lots of corgi kisses, I stole their hearts. <3
I am going to have to take some more photos of Silas, as I look through your photos of Lance (how can anyone not look at Lance, he is simply adorable!), the resemblance is amazing. Silas and Lance are also close to the same age... Silas is actually four today! We got him from Cathy Baker, a breeder in Stuart, FL. I pulled out his papers, I am wondering if they have any of the same lineage (Sire = CH Tell Tail Storm Warning; Dam = Pecan Valley Last Dancer)?
Re: Barnaby our brindle... take the plunge take the plunge (get a brindle lol :) ) Silas and Barnaby have very different personalities too. I can't imagine my life without either of them (of course)
Lance is a great name! Sometimes, names just jump out at you, and you know they are the right one. :-D
So, and I may be wrong here, but I think that Lance and Silas may be doggie cousins! (Which I must admit is very cool!) I am going to try to look them both up on the AKC site over the next week or so to see if this is right.
So if they are cousins, and they look so similar, I wonder if they have some of the same personality traits. (Wouldn't that be crazy?) How would you describe Lance in a nutshell?
I had to laugh at your description of Lance... Lance and Silas may look like brothers, but they are definitely (by personality) more like cousins! I can tell you just love him to pieces. I checked out his pix on your hubby's page too. :D
Lance sounds like Barnaby our brindle (the happy, momma's boy). Silas — we call him our uber-intelligent, complex dog LOL. He is soooo smart, and also the kind of smart where he wants to do certain things his way. He loves new people and other animals (he'll make any new person feel like a Rock Star), Loves to cuddle (just like Lance) and will still curl up in my lap daily. Loves me but is more a daddy's boy. And last of all, he is moody (!) — and will often pout. lol
I adore them both. I love all animals (we also have 4 rescue cats, who get along with the boys no problem) but I swear there is something special about Cardigans. Four years later, at least once a week I find myself thinking or saying that the decision to get a Cardigan was one of our best decisions ever! :)
Hey natalie! There really isn't too much to tell about Kip's first day home. We both pretty much slept all day. I took a lot of pics, and I plan on taking a whole bunch more tomorrow when he's more used to his new surroundings. He is smaller than I thought he would be, but he is SO stinking adorable!! And, he's so well-behaved. He's been my little shadow all day and won't let me out of his sight. I took him for a walk when it was dark (the ground is too hot here in the summer for daytime walking) and every time I stopped, he ran over and sat between my legs. I'll keep you posted on his doings as he gets older!
Everytime I see Lance's picture pop up in a discussion I always mean to tell you that he's absolutely adorable. So...finally I acted on it :). He's so cute, I love how different he looks. Kiwi and Orzo send nub wags as well :).
I loved reading this story! (The one part about him looking away and giving you the complex — that's a true dog lover response! lol) :D It's funny about the moods, I believe it's part of the breed too. Although I will say it may be more of a blue merle trait; Barnaby our brindle has different moods, but he never sulks and is generally pretty happy lol.
I also related to your breeder story. We talked to so many as well. (Like you, I did the research - ha ha) The breeders we went with for both of our guys were soooo wonderful. In fact, I am convinced the dogs get along so well because our breeders knew Silas and his personality, and matched him with a pup they thought would be best for him (and for the pup). It really turned out well. Especially after reading some stories on this site about fighting dogs, dogs not getting along, or ignoring each other. I'm so happy that's not the case here!
I already had to put Kip in my room for the day and it's breaking my heart. We both have to learn that there are times when we're gonna be apart, but it sucks! If I was allowed to, I would take the little guy to work with me and everywhere else I went. he's so smart already too! He's only been here going on 4 days and he's already potty trained. 0.0 it's scary kinda. I hope he isn't gonna be smarter than me one day! He's even almost got sit mastered and after 12 hours already knew who his mommy is. He's never been in a crate and he sleeps through the night on my bed with me but knows to go potty on the potty pads. But I gotta get heading to work so i'll let you know how his first day alone went!
haha thanks! All I gotta say is;
he is one smart pup. He's got quite the personality on him too! One second he wants to be independant and the next minute he wants to be clingy. He HATES when I try and snuggle with him at night, but when it's convenient for him, it has to happen. Or he'll bite and whine. He's such a goober. By chance, do you have any potty training advice? He uses the puppy pads when he's home by himself (when we're all at work and such) but when he knows I'm home and he can't see me, he potty's on the floor and I can't seem to get him to stop 0.o
Thanks for the welcome. Lance is spectacular! Those eyes...!!! Blizzard's dad is Farpoint's Colour Me Purple and his mom is Coedwig's Queen of the Night. Any connection to Lance? =)
I fell in love, shortly after we got Blizzard, with Harry P. and Sundays with George. I knew I wouldn't be happy until I had a brindle of my own. I saw a pix of Sooner and something about him in particular just drew me in. I knew he was the brindle for me! =)
Hi Natalie! I have been thinking about you, I tried chatting with you on Yahoo the other day because I saw you were on. Did you get the IM? But Katelyn is back at school, so I will try to chat with you soon, just like old times! LOL Hope you are doing well! Kisses to Lance!! I do have to post new pics of Jillie, she is 20 mths old all ready!
Talk to you soon!
!

That is very sweet! Thanks for the offer of help. I'm sure I am going to need it. I have so many great pictures of Sadie. They are a very photogenic bunch of cuties...aren't they?! :)
I was going to thank you for the birthday wishes and when i clicked on your page, I was blown away by the cutest dog picture i have ever seen, EVER!!!!!!
That picture of Lance with eyes closed and new harness on gave me goosebumps and even made my eyes water!!!! (That is a physical reaction to overwhelming adorableness!) I copied it and I am giving you a heads up, it may become my desktop photo!!!!
Natalie,
Your tips helped wonders! Now I just have to work on his "random" barking habit and we'll be all good. I still can't believe how smart Kipland is...He already knew sit by day 2 (I don't remember if I told you or not), and he knows what gentle means too. He sleeps in the funniest positions ever too. I find it funny. I'm very surprised with him too. He hasn't started chewing on anything that he isn't supposed to. Or does that come later??
Thank you for your compliments! I have the one in PINK in a nice frame on my credenza at work. I sent it to the breeder with a couple of others and she put them on her website.
Thank you! I'm not sure what was going on with the email. I'll have to hunt for that bowl--it would be great. I'm kind of worried about the AC and them getting over heated (I just read someone's journal on a pug site that over heated in the back seat with AC.) Anyway, thank you for the tips:D.
My air conditioning works well...it's a fairly new car, but we are heading to the dessert so I'm concerned about it. They were fine when we went to the beach--so hopefully that will be the case.
