About My Corgi(s):
Have had R & W Pembrokes my whole life, usually in pairs. Lucy, our now 5-yr old charmer, is a delight and keeps us laughing. We purposely picked a petite girl so that we could fly with her in the passenger cabin. We had our maiden voyage CA to NY (w. Lucy in the largest sized airline approved sherpa) and we all survived––esp. me, with the help of a bloody mary!

Fast forward a year and we re-homed a tri-male puppy who would have been in the pound if we didn't intervene. He had been left alone basically 24/7 in a backyard, and was all ribs and ears. He was a handful and the most difficult corgi I had ever owned. I don't know who was more upset by the decision to keep him, Jack, my husband, or Lucy. But all things happen for a reason. He's a wonderful, gentle and loyal corgi and we're all in love with him, including Lucy, (most of the time!), haha. RR turned 1 yo this month & surprised us all by becoming quite the looker. Lucy is 5. RR is twice her size, Everyone thinks that she's the puppy. Ya gotta love happy endings!!!
I have:

No problem, no one got your email address, when a member added you as a friend or send you a message, mycorgi.com relay the message and prompt you to check email, no one has your email address unless you give them one.
  • Mal Schaal

Lol, have you seen other peoples photo pages on this site? Nobody here will ever tell you that you have too many. They are all beautiful. Are Lucy and Izze both fixed? That could explain it, but I'm sure you already thought of that.

aww.. your fur babies are soo cute!!! i just wanna hug and kiss them!
  • Mal Schaal

LOL, she's not perfect! (But close)
when I got her I asked which one is more of a cuddler. She said that her name for Cookie was Cuddles. I got very lucky with her.
I'm so glad you like the pictures, I love taking them. But I have no one here who gets how awesome she is!
My mom's dog has a cat, and when she goes over there she follows the cat everywhere. There is a papasan chair, and both her and the cat get in it and roll around together. My mom swears that when Cookie isn't there in the morning the cat walks around meowing, looking for her.

Hi, right above the "My Photos" is a Playlist (it's pink), you can click on the center button that looks like two bars that are straight up and down. That will stop the music.

I just added some more pictures too. . . .

i especially love all of the rivalry games, I hope Notre Dame wins, the Gators should stomp the Seminoles. The FL-Bama game is going to be tense, I think it will be determined in the last 5 minutes if both teams play hard
  • Dara and Gracie

Lucy is so so darn cute! Reminds me so much of Gracie!
  • Meg Jones & Indiana

Your corgi pictures are so cute! Don't tell my puppy, but I sure spent a lot of time cooing over yours!! ;)
  • Tobias, Meiko, & Marshall

    thank you =)
i was so happy to find a black masked tri to adopt...your dogs are beautiful as well and your pups are too cute
  • Jessica Lea & Sydney

My wonderful adventure begins when I pick up little Sydney tomorrow. Can't believe the time is here! Lucy is precious - I look forward to seeing more home videos of her!

I notice you have traveled with her. Could you share some tips with me? I am taking Sydney home to NY with me for the holidays. Actually, our trips sound fairly similar. I am flying from Portland, OR to Long Island (my mom is in East Williston and my dad happens to live in Long Beach now) on a direct flight and then have a plane change on the way back. I want to make sure the flight is as smooth and comfortable as possible for Sydney. How did you handle this for Lucy? I appreciate it!
  • Jessica Lea & Sydney

I love that your flying tips all had to do with relaxing you rather than Lucy. Really good advice! I'm sure she could feel the nerves and will be sure to keep that in mind when Sydney and I fly. Turns out that I was overexcited and meant to write "the day after tomorrow" - in any case, she gets here tomorrow (Wednesday). Thank you for the good first day wishes. :)
  • Buddy & Wynstan

a small rawhide stuck through the small opening of a puppy kong has seemed to do the trick for now!

    that is tooo cute!!!!!

Hi Wendy, Jack and Lucy! No, the tri in the picture is our first rescue while we were in San Diego as part of the PWC Southern CA. We went thru about half dozen rescues - I was thinking I'd get Sophie a buddy but didn't work out. The tri ended up at emergency w/a bite from my little girl bully...I recently found an email for Pat Schilling on Golden Gate PWC club: pettiwood@juno.com. I sent an email but no answer. I noticed that Pat judged in 2008. I believe she is in Gardnerville, NV - I remember her saying that Sophie's litter would be her last, that litter took alot out of Rosie the Dam, she said. Lucy's ADORABLE!! Makes me want another puppy or two. I noticed that Pat judged in 2008.

Thanks for the message...No, I do not fly with my corgis....We travel by mini-van....and take time for some long and rewarding stops on the way. I try to pick places that the dogs can run with out their leashes and will be safe. Otherwise we just explore the area we are in on leash....Sometimes I think that I am the one on the leash and the dogs are the ones doing the exploring....They are so very well behaved that I have no problem with motels or staying in homes that we have been invited to. Glad to hear that all of you survived your flight...even if it did take a bloody mary....bet it tasted good...and what a help for nerves...I should remember that when I fly. Lucy is adorable...It is obvious she is a much loved member of your family...I really must get with the act and put some pictures of my two fur balls on my site...Hopefully I can get this done sometime at Christmas when my children are here to help me. Thanks for adding me as a friend...Will keep you up to date on the happenings with my tribe in Virginia.
  • Marion Hebert

Will let you know when I get some pictures posted....I love looking at Corgi pics also....you just can't miss the mischeivious attitude....We have just come back from a mile and 1/2 walk....try to take at least one a day....otherwise my two bunny butts can play in their own fenced in back yard....Bunny butts, you ask...a pet name given to them by a friend who worked for the same vet I did....Have been looking for some fun things to stuff their stockings....would seem they have most of what is out there and I think safe...Any suggestions?
  • Mickey

Cappykorn Bach is Sophie's great grand dad on the Sire's side - well it is so great to know others in the great Pettiwood tradition. Speaking of, I emailed with Tim at Nebriowa. Sophie has Nebriowa on her mother's side (Pat's Sweet Rose O'Grady). So when time comes I'll be in touch w/him about puppies. Your Lucy is a beauty, I love the doe eyed corgi look. I'm hoping for a tri-color - and I am really liking the idea of a petite size so I, too, can travel with her. Thanks for that tip!!
  • Mickey

Why yes, several Schaferhaus all the way back to 4th generation, including Yul B of Quanda ROMX. This is probably a dumb question, but what does ROMX mean (do you know?). So glad to know one of Sophie's relatives. And also good to know Tim's background - that makes me feel really good and that Pat really paid special care for her breeding efforts.

Hi Jack,Wendy, and Lucy, sorry to be so late, i just noticed now your invitation !
Thank you to add me !
Little Lucy is very cute !
  • Marion Hebert

Hi there! Are you all ready for the holidays. Sam, Merry and I just wanted to wish you all a very merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We have just completed the Christmas decorations and sent Christmas gifts....Yea. Now my wonderful dogs are busy trying to guess what they are getting for Christmas....I'll never tell. LOL Marion
  • Darlene Hennessy

I saw your pic of Lucy when I went to the corgi book club...she is so cute. I loved all your pictures...just wanted to let you know.
  • Darlene Hennessy

Hi, I am glad you enjoyed their pictures. They really had fun in the dirt! Gunner's dad is Gracie's grandfather. She is younger. I had 2 different breeders. Both with recommendation of my previous corgi's breeder. She is in Texas now. So these were closer to home.
  • Darlene Hennessy

And thank you for having me as your friend!
  • Darlene Hennessy

maybe if you went to New York now Lucy might see some snow! Mine have a blast in the snow.
  • Kari Feddersen

Thanks for adding me as a friend! Love the Lakers jersey, so adorable!
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Good to know. Lucy has had an occasional––always accidental––grape and onion w/o any ill effects. I suppose it's the quantity. But better safe than sorry! Also hibiscus is poisonous. Say hi to Juno and thanks for the heads up. We can never be too careful with our corgis!
  • Meg Jones & Indiana

Thanks for the comment! He's a sweet puppy and I wouldn't change him for anything :) Except when he gets a bath and then decides it's a good idea to roll around on my bed... I might change that! hehe :D
  • LaVerne & Shirley

Thank you for the invitation and the sweet comments. LaVerne is 7 months older than Shirley. They keep me very busy. I dont know what I ever did without them!
Your Lucy is perfect! I noticed her tongue sticking out in a few photos. Does she do that a lot? Lavernes tongue seems to be always hanging out. It always makes me giggle.
What great photos. Thanks for sharing! :o)
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Thank you so much for your comments about Lucy! Lucy's tongue is always hanging out after a run. She's a real herder and nothing makes her happier than chasing her while she runs these huge circles on the lawn. I also noticed either Shirley or LaVerne just sticking a little tip of her tongue out. Lucy does that too. Actually just now she was lying on our down comforter, sleeping happily on my pillow. When I went to talk and disturb her she stuck the little tip out. I swear she does it to say "leave me alone, I'm resting."
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Some of the corgis in the photos were Lucy's predecessors. I've always had corgis, but never had a tri. I am thinking about getting a tri now. I just don't know how Lucy will react to a puppy. She's been our princess for 4 years and isn't crazy about dogs. She has a few in the neighborhood that she really likes. The rest she seems to just tolerate, or barely tolerate! haha.
  • LaVerne & Shirley

LOL....I think Ive done that before. Ive accepted friend requests only to find it didnt go thru before too. Maybe a glitch but more than likely the glitch is on my side..lol.
Looking at your pictures makes me want a red and white too! I was looking for a red and white when I found Shirley and my husband fell in love with her and told me to get her. He didnt have to tell me twice!
They have become fast friends ( sometimes enemies....lol ) and I cant imagine life without them. They keep me pretty busy. LaVerne is in Rally Obedience class and Shirley is learning agility. Its been fun! Corgis are so incredibly smart!
  • LaVerne & Shirley

First of all your sweet post almost brought tears to my eyes. " Corgis make every day valentine's day," So well put. They really do. Such loving creatures and no matter what kind of mood Im in they always make me smile.
Secondly, that video of that pup is adorable! What a beautiful boy. Nothing cuter in the world than a Corgi puppy! Awwwwww
LaVerne and Shirley are from different breeders but they both have Sosa bloodlines. That Sosa....he was a very busy boy....lol.
My girls couldnt be more different. LaVerne is my couch potato and since she was put on a diet she has gained a pound. ( I can relate...lol ) I like to describe Shirley as a drop of water on a hot skillet. She goes 100 mph till she fizzles out and takes a nap just long enough to get geared up for the next round. She is a bundle of energy.
I loved what you said about Lucy trying to rest. "When I went to talk and disturb her she stuck the little tip out. I swear she does it to say "leave me alone, I'm resting." ' I can just see her.....lol. LaVerne does that too!
  • LaVerne & Shirley

LOL..guess what I just did? I responded to your post by sending it to my page.....that made my day I tell ya....lolol! See? You're not the only one! ANYwho.....here is what I posted...lol.
" Awwwwww....Im touched you liked the picture enough to want to forward it. That is more than fine with me! :o)
I got my girls from 2 different breeders but they both have Sosa lines. LaVerne came from Onalaska near Olympia WA and Shirley is from Ellensburg WA not far from here. I do believe they are both expecting litters. Here is the website to the breeder in Ellensburg. www.heartbarx.com. As shown on the website they do genetic testing which is comforting The girl I got LaVerne from doesnt have a website but I can find her number if you are interested. I think they are taking deposits on the pups. I am very happy with both of my girls. Very smart and sweet dispositions. OH OH! I just checked Heartbarx.com and they had a litter of pups 4 days ago! 6 boys and 2 girsl! She already has their pictures up!!!
Goodness the video you sent of that tri puppy is so cute. I just watched it again. What a beautiful puppy. His markings are a lot like LaVernes."
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Thanks for the info. re. your breeders. They are obviously wonderful. My husband and his friend are trying to set up a new TV so I don't dare interrupt and show them your corgi pix. It's serious business. haha. They've been at it for hours so I'm staying out of their way. I don't hear any cursing so that's a good sign! I got a kick out of your posting to your page. See, we were meant to be friends. You have LaVerne and Shirley. We can be Ethel and Lucy! LOL. Glad you didn't mind my goof w. twitter. ; )
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Awww. I just checked out heartbarx photos. I want one, tho' I don't think it will happen this year. Was LaVerne's mom Nia? Your 2 are the prettiest of them all! If we get another corgi, we will probably stay with our breeder, Tim Mathiesen, Nebriowa. He's in Oakland, and although we have to fly, it's a shorter trip for us & we love him and his corgis. However, heartbarx does seem to get mostly tris. I didn't see one r&w in a photo. Our next one will definitely be a tri. I've never had one in all my years of corgis. I don't know if you looked at the photos I posted but I have most of my corgis over 30 years, all red and whites!
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

LOL, just call me Ethel. We already have a Lucy in the family. Duh! The puppies were on the same page as the 14 mo. sable. Is Shirley pictured in any of the litters on the site?
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Schaferhaus (Sammy Sosa) has been a part of most of my corgis pedigrees. Schaferhaus Yul B, Kappycorn Bach, SuaMah, Pettiwood, Roughhouse and Nebriowa. So if Shirley's Nia's daughter, she's related to Lucy and most of my other corgis. Though all corgi owners are a big family, don't you think?!
  • Debbie Landrie

    HI,
Your photos are great!!! Your little girl is adorable.
    Deb
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Thank you! Too bad we had Lucy neutered. I think she and Max would produce beautiful babies. haha. Just kidding. I actually know nothing about breeding, but somehow I think they would have made a great match!
  • LaVerne & Shirley

    Hi Ethel! hehe
Nia is Shirley's mom. I fell in love with Nia instantly. Such a pretty face and so sweet. All of Heartbarx dogs are sweehearts. Nothing like being mobbed by smiling Corgis...lol. I love it. You can see Shirley if you click the "Past Litters" link. Her name was Lorena. I need to post new pics of my girls. Shirley has changed a lot but still so cute it hurts!
I hope you had a great Valentines Day. If it was half as sweet as you are then you had it made.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Hi Lucy ; ) I took a peek at Lorena. How could you ever pick a puppy. They are all sooo cute! I posted a few new pix of Lucy. Unfortunately I take most of them with my iPhone bec. I'm too lazy to get the camera, so they tend to be fuzzy.
  • LaVerne & Shirley

Love the photos. Keep em coming!
  • Darlene Hennessy

Next winter you will need to schedule a visit to your daughters, so Lucy can have fun in the snow. I see from your pictures she likes to swim. I know mine like to wade, and am planning to take Gunner and Gracie to a dogpark near us that is on the lake and allows swimming for the dogs.
  • Alice

Thank you for joining! I'm just glad so many other people wanted to be a part of a group dedicated to books. I love sharing reviews of books I've read with others. I don't know why but having someone enjoy a book that you love seems somehow rewarding. I also love hearing about books I have not read because I never know what wonderful books I may have overlooked.

I try to create discussion topics to get conversations going but not everyone seems to get into it. My last one about meeting characters was a flop. :) Oh well, I tried.

A lot of people buy their books at Costco or online, that's why bookstores are struggling so much. I understand the convenience of it, but I far prefer to walk into a store filled with books and wander for an hour looking for something new. I can be very lazy, but I'm always up for a trip to the book store. :)
  • Wendt Worth Corgi's

Thank you for the invite. Corgis are the best.

RE: "Comment by LUCY (owners: jack & wendy) on February 6, 2010 at 8:09pm
that's hilarious. when lucy was a puppy she'd play with grapes forever. but now that she's an adult, it's gone in a split second. i love your corgi! "

Did you get the info that grapes are supposed to be toxic to dogs?
