I am an Animal Behaviorist and a server at a local restaraunt. I had voluteered at a shelter and noticed that the dogs were not there due to obedience problems. Most of them had behavior problems. So, I enrolled in behavior classes. When I was young, my mom used to tell me that one day I would save the world. I have 3 dogs (Samoyed, Australian Sheperd and Pembroke Corgi) and 4 cats. E-I-E-I-O.
About My Corgi(s):
Our little Wookie was born June 20th, 2008. We got him from a farm that uses his parents for herding their cattle. He is not a show dog. He comes from a hard working family like ours. Which makes him fit right in. He loves to squeek toys for hours. Anything that makes noise is toys. He hangs out with the big dogs and believes he is just as big.
Thanks again. As soon as I get the pics off my camera, I'll put more up on his website. www.kirbythefluff.com. He's really grown in the last few weeks.
Good morning!
Laverne is getting better about nipping but still has her bitey days.....but heck so do I! I will give that a try. I will let you know.
Let me know how Wookie likes his bumble ball. They are a riot....lol.
Wookie certainly is a looker! I love his fashion sense. Such a dapper dog!
Thank you! He's a great dog which is what brought on our love of corgis. I don't think we had ever even really seen one before we got him...lol. We are getting another corgi at Christmas. She looks more sable right now but I am hoping she'll turn red...lol. Not that it matters at all I'm just excited to get her! I've been waiting for forever!
Will do! I'll post pics as soon as I get some! The one pic I do have of her you can't even tell that there is a puppy in it...lol. It's just a blob of pups...lol.
Thanks for the comment Paula!! Yeah the beagle in the pictures is huge!! He's my dad's dog and he has an incurable disease so my dad gives him whatever he wants. And Lola just recently got off a diet =) She is a happy and healthy 22 pounds! She has so much more energy now, and she loves her new food!! I'm glad people are good about not picking Wookie up!! My grandmother always tries when I'm not looking and ends up sticking her long fake nails into her sides.
I love all your cute pups (even if they're not all pups)! Your kitty is sweet too! Your corgi is really photogenic! I bet there is never a dual moment in hour house!
Our Song, mostly sable, also came from a farm where her parents brought in the heffers each night. She is a little herder for sure and very vocal. She herds her step sister every where. We feel very blessed both are not champions but very wonderfull dogs.-------------Dot
Paula: I know what you mean about "nail trimming" and ears. Gizmo hates his nails clipped. I did get (yesterday) one of those "pedicare trimming things" It worked really good and after a few minutes.. Gizmo for once in his lovely little life sat still and let me trim his nails!! a miracle!!
Your pictures are amazing! You have some of the sweetest looking dogs/cat - looks like a big snugglefest at your house :) I am sure you have lots of fun with them!
Hi, Paula. Thanks for the note. Wish we could have gone to the PA show, but Skeezix is on furlough from showing till his magnificent ruff grows back in. Because I forgot to ask my vet not to, his ruff got shaved for a blood draw about the end of January . . . sooooo, no ruff/no shows! I was going to have him go to the Cardi Nationals this month w/ my breeder friends, but that will have to wait till next year or not, if we decide to retire (sure wish I could myself--lot more dog, cat and critter time for me if i could!!). Skeez says to tell you all hi and that he really wants a hat like Wookie's. M and Skeez
Hey Paula, Sorry for this UBER-Delayed reply but nope, I'm still in Leola -unfortunately. I'd much rather be in NYC, CA, FL, or just about anywhere else other than Amish Country but oooh well.... =/ such is life for now. I'm sure I'll catch a break sooner or later, it's just a struggle currently. Your Wookie is freakin' adorable!!! Haha, I LOVE his lil' hat and bandanna outfit! =) Soo cute! Kindest regards and hope all well w/you and all your lil' (and big) furry friends/family members! Ein says Woof!
Your dogs are just beautiful! Yes, I was a little insane to add two such energetic dogs to the household, but so far it has worked out very well. In my case, I have found that the Corgi/Aussie pairing works very well. They both have similar energy levels and play styles so they make perfect playmates! I got lucky with Lyla (Corgi) too because she is super calm indoors. Sky, the Aussie, is Mr Go-Go-Go all the time, but Lyla is usually content to curl up and watch tv with me (even at 5 months old!!). Outside though, that's where all the energy comes out! It's fun to watch them herd eachother. I am so in love with the herding breeds, I don't know if I could ever do anything else!
Yo Paula,
I'm thinking about stopping out to TJ's either tonight (Sat.) or tomorrow... as part of my birthday celebration... Should I request you? =) Or will you not be working? =( How's Wookie by the way? lol
Hope all is well!
Aww, my sympathies on your loss of Quinn, Paula. It is so difficult to lose any part of your family!
I see in an earlier post that you work at Rockwells? Love the rhino fries! :) And how interesting...an animal behavioralist. We'll have to chat sometime about my cat and how nuts the puppy has made her! Have a great evening and it would be great to get together some time with the corgis! :)
Haha! Aw, well tell them I said "Thanks so much for the compliment(s)!" =) I appreciate knowing! I tell ya, sometimes I really wonder what the heck girls in and around my generation want in a guy! I'm rather picky, but then when I see what a lot girls go after I'm just boggled. Guess it goes back to the example [or lack there of] their fathers gave them huh? ...anyway, I just noticed that Quinn passed away in April... =( So sorry to hear... how did he go? Hope it wasn't painful or long. How's life otherwise? Anything new or exciting going on? Hope all is well.
