I was blessed to have owned both a Pembroke and a Cardigan Corgi. Riley, my Cardigan passed in 2005, and now my Pembroke, Samantha, has also passed. I miss having them around. I love this breed! They have added so much to my life!
I love animals, always have. Would keep a million if I could! I also have 2 cats, a mini daschund, named Molly and Jackson my new baby boy! Molly is 11 and was VERY attached to Sam. It was obvious how much she missed her when she passed away. Molly always acted as if Sam was her Mom. Whenever Sam would want to play, Molly would try to take her toy to make her stop. Then Sam would get mad at Molly for "ruining the fun". Jackson is a little over a year old, my Valentine's baby! He is precious and naughty at the same time, but I love him and he has added so much back for me that I felt like I lost with Riley and Sam.
I have two young cats. I had two others, Winston and Cody. Winston passed away a month before Riley from cancer. It was funny to retrain Riley about not "getting the kitty" once we brought Winston home. He was always good to chase them out of the yard, but needed to learn that we were trying to keep Winston :) Cody developed a tumor related to vaccines. We made two attempts, in vain to remove the tumors. He passed away before Thanksgiving at the age of 9.
The two I have now are Charlie and Fritz. They never got to meet my Corgis, but they are about to welcome a little brother home!!!! Charlie is still in his "kitten" phase, so I know he is going to love the puppy!
Molly seems lonely and at times lost without Sam still. She was always by her side and when I leave the house, it is torture to her to be alone. :( But now she has Jack and probably has moments where she misses her quiet time!
I am blessed for all that these babies have been in my life. The companionship is priceless.

About My Corgi(s):
Riley was the absolute smartest dog I have ever known. He saved my life and was there to see me through many rough times. I am so thankful to have had him.
Samantha was my princess, so sweet and loving. I miss her gentle ways, lazy days of hanging out or going to the park to play frisbee. She was such a little fireball. I miss them both so much and feel such a sense of loss without them. Now I have Jack! He is his own Corgi and yet has all the things in him that I love about the breed! I can't wait to see all the memories we create!
What beautiful pictures. <3 Definitely drop me a note if a special corgi finds it's way into your family again 'cause I know Ashton would love to have a play day! We just live down I-90 in Moses Lake and visit Spokane a lot! We go to the dog park near State Line, did the Dog Days of Summer at Riverfront Park and went to Mirabeau Point Park when they had their Responsible Dog Ownership Day. Keep warm and hopefully you guys in Spokane won't get slammed (I know, it happens every year, but I'll hold out hope for ya! lol) with snow!
Riley and Samantha were both beautiful kiddos - such sweet little faces! I am sorry to read that they are both gone, but I am sure you have many wonderful memories to keep with you. Who would want to have a life without a corgi in it, to share and to love? Thank you for sharing your photos. I like the pool picture, and the last picture of the two of them together. What sweethearts!
Your photos are great. I used to have Siamese cats too. At one point I had three. I lost two of them in the same year but can't really complain because they all lived a long time. Now I have two rescues that are not Siamese. Every body gets along pretty well although my Sparty is not real fond of my son's doberman. It is great to have a housefull though!
I have a siamese kitty too, she rules the roost with an iron paw. lol As for breeders I do know there are some that are close by. Look up the Cascade Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club's website (http://www.angelfire.com/wa2/cpwcc/Puppy.htm) and there is a list of breeders. When I was looking for Ashton I spoke with several of them and they were all very helpful. I remember there being at least one in Spokane, Post Falls and Cd'A, so they would probably be a great place to start. :)

Hi Michelle. Welcome to the Corgis Remembered group. I feel your sadness and identify with your ode to Riley. He sounds like a wonderful fellow and friend. I'm so excited for to be getting a new Corgi baby in one week! I thought nothing could help our sorrow when Dylan, 14, died. Then we got our puppy (now 4) Lucy! And the fun began. Keep us posted on your new baby & continue writing about Riley anytime.
I know what you mean. I was wondering if all dog owners are as fanatically devoted as Corgi owners. There's something so magical about a Corgi. Do you know what you're going to name your puppy?
Thank you for your gift and we're returning the favor, haha. Maybe someone will clue us in on what they are. Until then we'll remain clueless. But that's ok. It's sort of how I go through life!
I heard some good boy's names recently. But, of course I quickly forgot them. I'll pay attention. How much time do we have? My husband likes Barkley. If we get a boy we'll name him Desi. Easy...Lucy & Desi. I'll think of names & pay attention! I like Max, Jake, Cody, Baily, Sam. I actually love simple names like Bob. It makes me laugh, for some reason. But, I'll send along any creative names that I hear. Just remember that I named my first dog, Lucky.
Crazy, I had a rescue dog that I named Winston (after my cigarette of choice–but having kids made me abandon that habit). I also had to return Winston because he was aggressive and bit everyone in my family, including me in my cheek. scary! Except for Dylan, all of our corgis had names ending in the ie or y sound: gorki (known as the gork), annie, rookie, maggie, emily, lucy. I do lack originality. I did like the name Rookie. I will continue to think of names, as long as i'm on the right track. you can also google baby names & get some ideas. You'll probably just have to wait and get your little guy and see what name fits.
PS My husband likes Max. He also likes Harold (you can call him Harry) or Edward (Ed) because they're very English names. also Mason, and jack still loves dylan (for dylan thomas, tho my 3 girls named him after a character on beverly hills 90210. walter. ok, enough. these names are all courtesy of my husband Jack. I have nothing to do with any of them except Max and Dylan. LOL.
Ok, this is mine. I have a lucy, so I would name an upcoming boy desi. but then i thought of ethel and FRED...haha. could be cute. that's it for today. (promise).
My sister-in-law was in love with the name Molly. She wanted me to name my first daughter Molly. I didn't, but she, in turn, named her standard poodle Molly. Years later when she became a grandmother, she insisted that her daughter name her Molly. My husband & I thought that was pretty weird!
I am literally laughing out loud about Ben. Over the past few months my dgt, Lindsay, went out with a few different guys and all of them were named Ben––and they were all super annoying. She told me yesterday that she will never go out with anyone named Ben again. This is sort of weird, isn't it. But fun weird! I'm going to think some more. We didn't name Lucy right away.
I think Jack is really cute. You'll get my husband's vote. My dgt's friend just named her baby Jack. Also Milo, Cody, Barnaby (barney), Jeremy, Vegas, Wilson (willy)...I think I'm losing it. LOL. Of course all these names will go out the window once you meet your baby. Take lots of photos. Where are you getting him from?
