I just got my Corgi, which I have been wanting for many years. I love her!
I've had a file of Corgi info and photos for about 10 years with the dream of owning one some day. After the kids moved out and my husband and I moved to the mountains from Orange County, I started searching in earnest.
I'm retired for now and love to garden, entertain and cook for family and friends, read and travel. All our friends have dogs so Maggie will have a lot of good friends!
About My Corgi(s):
Her name is Maggie and we got her in June 2008. She was born April 13, 2008.
We live on 7 acres near the Nat'l Forest, so I'll have to protect Maggie from danger while we're outdoors.
She was very dirty and had lots of puppy bites on her shoulders and head and chin after being raised outdoors on a ranch with 4 sibs. She was good during the first bath, but likes the next ones less!
I've found out that she is probably a fluffy. She has very thick fur and its long enough so I think I'll be brushing her every day! Neither of her parents have very fluffy coats, so we'll see how she turns out after a few months. Can't believe we finally have her!!
hi Maggie and family! She is an adorable fluffy.
I recently started gardening and Steve & Scott has been enjoying trampling through my hard work....Enjoy your new pup!
Oh I'll be tearing this site up with blogs/photos/videos. Next week, when I go to visit Banzai, I'll bring my video camera with me. Keep an eye out for it!
My breeder has videos up until the 26th of last month on her site. celestialstarkennel.com. At the very top is the puppy/dog videos link. Courtney and Kobe are the parents.
My 1st corgi and heart dog who I lost last year was Named Maggie Mae. Perfect name she was also a fluff. There is a yahoo group who all have or had fluffs. If you are interested I will give you a link. Lots of pictures and very nice people. Your Maggie is very pretty. She sure looks like a fluff. I am sure she will bring you a lot of joy.
those pics with the cat are just hysterical!! My cats feel about the same way about ginny... not exactly best friends yet. Kitty may have the upper hand right now, but Maggie will be bigger than her soon, so kitty better watch out! I just love Maggie's face. She looks like a little stuffed animal. Very cute
Maggie is going to be the cutest fluffy EVER! Right now her fur looks like it will be about Griff's length - not short, but not super long, either. We adopted Griff at 10 months, so I never got to see him as a puppy. I imagine he looked something like Maggie :) She is seriously adorable!
We worked with Zod on tricks/commands pretty much from day one. We used a couple of dog training books and a lot of tips online (petplace.com was very helpful). Zod is quite a little piggy (and a bit of an attention whore) so he really works hard when food and love are used as motivation (mostly food). We set aside at least 5-10 minutes a day training him one command and after one week we would add a new one to the mix, always reviewing previous commands.
He currently has a working vocabulary of over 30 words and phrases and he is always learning new ones (the list of words we have to spell seems to increase daily).
The one command I recommend above all others is "let go". I see a lot of dogs at the park whose owners have to wrestle or chase their dogs to recover an item, and I never have to do that with Zod. (Which is good because those little legs are deceptively fast!)
Aw thanks-- your maggie is so completely adorable! I hadn't seen a fluffy corgi before Jackson, either and I was like "oh my god long haired corgi"!? I immediately came home and googled it. I know it's not sought after in the breed standard but I think you agree you'd not change a thing about your little fluffy one:)
Maggie May, you are adorable!!! We love Yosemite and have taken Moose and Dixie with us a couple of times. We stay in cabins in Wawona. The dogs just love it! Your pics are so cute!
Maggie is such a fluffy-great looking pup!
We should start a club called "corgi-waiters", My family growing up had a corgi who lived to retire in Florida with my folks while I was away in college. Always wanted another, collected pics and books about corgis over the years. I waited many decades (until my kid was 8 yrs old) and finally we got Radar 2 years ago. Definitely worth the wait!
Maggie is so very adorable! Finding out your Corgi has a fluffy coat is like the coolest surprise ever :) I love the picture at the top of your page - it's hilarious!!!
my two corgis had puppies and we ended up with one fluffy- he's probably the best one out of the whole litter! I had no clue what fluffies were but I kept saying that he looked like he had a different dad ;)
Maggie May is adorable! We live in La Pine Oregon, our setting is rural (sorta) about 3 miles from the small town of La Pine. The forest is just out our back door, it is awesome! We retired to Central Oregon, the high desert, in 2005. It is wonderful...the rat race didn't work for us anymore. Ron and I grew up in the Portland area and lived there for 65 plus years. On the high desert winter lasts for around 6 months, spring (sunny but cool) and summer can be hot with cool nights. Riley is our 2nd corgi, we adore him, he is very sweet and he keeps us busy! When Riley turns 18 months (fingers crossed) I hope to adopt another baby, a littlr girl this time. Maggie May is the name I had chosen for Riley if he had been a girl. Rod Stewart is one of my favorites! Your little fluff is so cute, perhaps our breeder will have a tri fluff. I would imagine fluffs require quit a bit more grooming.
Beaverton!!! My folks moved to Beaverton when I was in 2nd grade... in 1971 Ron and I moved to Aloha, raised 3 wonderful children and retired to Central Oregon. Where in Beaverton does your daughter live?
Peach is from neosho missouri. it's really weird both girls have the same birthday! are you going to spoil your little girl for her big second birthday?
