Maggie Goes Camping

Posted on July 12, 2008 at 5:30pm 0 Comments

Maggie turns out to be a good little traveler on our recent camping trip. She sits or lays down between us and plays with a toy or sleeps on my lap. We stopped often to walk her and she was very good.

She licked ice cubes from her dish as we drove ...loved those! It's a neat way to get her water in the car.

Then when we got to the campground she played with the kids there and even walked to the shore of the river. She was very excited to see the water. She's good with… Continue

My Garden Buddy

Posted on July 4, 2008 at 4:30pm 0 Comments

I'm hoping she'll be my garden buddy and so far she follows me all around while I'm clipping and watering. She'll need to be trained not to eat my plants, among other things and I'm starting to watch the Dog Whisperer!

She's learning "No" mostly about things she shouldn't chew, and also she's having some success with her 'potty spot'.

It's so funny when we say No...No, nooo. to everything she wants to chew. and she lies down in a huff and looks up at me with… Continue

Welcome Home

Posted on June 30, 2008 at 7:00pm 0 Comments

We brought Maggie home and settled in to adjust to the new situation for all of us. She's so darn cute, we immediately fell in love with her.

She explored the house and we set her up with her food and water.

We can't get over all her cute expressions. At first she looks so serious, then she smiles, I swear, sticks her tongue out and grins up at us. She's so fluffy and looks like a big hamster from behind!

Our cat, Crystal, aged 20, is in the… Continue

About Me:
I just got my Corgi, which I have been wanting for many years. I love her!

I've had a file of Corgi info and photos for about 10 years with the dream of owning one some day. After the kids moved out and my husband and I moved to the mountains from Orange County, I started searching in earnest.

I'm retired for now and love to garden, entertain and cook for family and friends, read and travel. All our friends have dogs so Maggie will have a lot of good friends!
About My Corgi(s):
Her name is Maggie and we got her in June 2008. She was born April 13, 2008.

We live on 7 acres near the Nat'l Forest, so I'll have to protect Maggie from danger while we're outdoors.

She was very dirty and had lots of puppy bites on her shoulders and head and chin after being raised outdoors on a ranch with 4 sibs. She was good during the first bath, but likes the next ones less!

I've found out that she is probably a fluffy. She has very thick fur and its long enough so I think I'll be brushing her every day! Neither of her parents have very fluffy coats, so we'll see how she turns out after a few months. Can't believe we finally have her!!

Beaverton!!! My folks moved to Beaverton when I was in 2nd grade... in 1971 Ron and I moved to Aloha, raised 3 wonderful children and retired to Central Oregon. Where in Beaverton does your daughter live?

It is , after all, a small world!

Maggie May is adorable! We live in La Pine Oregon, our setting is rural (sorta) about 3 miles from the small town of La Pine. The forest is just out our back door, it is awesome! We retired to Central Oregon, the high desert, in 2005. It is wonderful...the rat race didn't work for us anymore. Ron and I grew up in the Portland area and lived there for 65 plus years. On the high desert winter lasts for around 6 months, spring (sunny but cool) and summer can be hot with cool nights. Riley is our 2nd corgi, we adore him, he is very sweet and he keeps us busy! When Riley turns 18 months (fingers crossed) I hope to adopt another baby, a littlr girl this time. Maggie May is the name I had chosen for Riley if he had been a girl. Rod Stewart is one of my favorites! Your little fluff is so cute, perhaps our breeder will have a tri fluff. I would imagine fluffs require quit a bit more grooming.

Maggie, after Paul James' Corgi on Gardening by the Yard. I found out later that Maggie is a very common name for a female dog. hahaha

Did you name Maggie May after Rod Stewarts song "Maggie May"?
