I was talking about a 2007 issue of "Corgi Clan Tales", the newsletter of the Columbia Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club, CPWCC. I gather Timberside had just acquired Cracklin' Rosie (Riley's grandma?); they have a page for Frankie in there too.
You have a gorgeous pair of dogs. Don't let them get overweight; it's hard to tell from a photo, but Riley looks big enough.
Take lots and lots of photos in the snow together, you can play with the black-and-white patterns (you have some where the trees are throwing shadows on the snow). Next winter, they won't be different sizes, and Maggie won't be black-and-white. I really love some of your close-ups of Riley. Those two together are a dog photographer's dream.
I figured out what it is: Riley seems to be keeping more black on his face than many red-headed tris (if you just see Al's face, he looks like a red). Gwynnie kept just a little black on her forehead. Maybe Riley has the blackheaded tri allele from Haley's D'Artagnan (Dante, Gwynnie's dad), who is a blackheaded tri. That allele is supposedly recessive to the regular tri allele, but maybe a little of it penetrates and they keep more black on the head. Just guessing.
We happen to have a Feb. 2007 issue of "Corgi Clan Tales", newsletter of CPWCC, 'cause Carrie Hale bought some space in it featuring Gwynnie and her littermate Panda (breeders sort of buy ads, it looks like). Timberside has 2 pages in it too, featuring Westbourne's Cracklin Rosie; isn't she Riley's mom or grandma?
