Comment by Tina Striegl on July 4, 2012 at 8:42am Thank you Jen and Shari~
It is very helpful to know there are others out there that try to help their floofies to beat the heat. We are off the the groomer next week. Thanks again~
Comment by Jen and Archie on July 4, 2012 at 8:35am Had our dog shaved and trimmed last year due to our vet advising us to do this due to a huge tick problem in our area - I think it also helped with the Australian heat in Summer. Apart from looking a lot trimmer and being easier to check for ticks I noticed a big increase in his energy levels and our 5.00/5.30am walk was much more bouncier.
My mommy shaves me down when it starts to get warm and I pant a lot. Here in Hawaii the humidity really affects the heat...My fur grows back to it's normal long luxurious length in about 4 months or so. During the "winter" mom just haves the groomer shave down my undercarriage and legs b/c they get really dirty when we go walking in the morning and I want to step onto the dewy grass.
Hope this helps!
Comment by Tina Striegl on July 3, 2012 at 9:34am Good morning Fluffy lovers!
Is the summer heat killing you or your dogs? I have made a decision. I am having Penny shaved down for the summer. She is so miserable. The temps here are in the high 90s to low 100s and I don't have and air conditioned home. I take my pups out at 5:30 in the morning to avoid the heat. Any thoughts on cutting her hair down? I think she'll be more comfortable albeit, look a little silly. I have never done this to any dog before, but I think it's going to be a long, long, long, HOT summer!
Thanks everyone~
Comment by Becky, Sebastian and others on May 7, 2012 at 12:47am I've never heard of Fluffs before. I'm thinking it is Corgi's with long fur? If so, this is the group for me. I have a Cardigan who has a beautiful coat of long fur. Unfortunately, he hates getting brushed, but will put up with it. He is so good tempered.
