About My Corgi(s):
http://www.tumblr.com/blog/snickmom Follow Snickers and friends!
Snickers is a red head tri pemmie, 23 lbs, Dolly is a recently adopted corgi/peke/ewok mix same size and age as Snickers (about 4 yrs old). We also have an English Springer Spaniel who loves to play with the little ones.
We decided to get a corgi because we knew other people who had them and they were neat dogs. Jack Spaniels was 5 years old, when we decided to get a corgi pup for him to play with because our older dog did not have the energy anymore. I did not find a puppy in my area that was in my budget, but my older son was visiting my mom in Missouri so I started searching the web in that area. I found a promising breeder with some cute tri pemmies for sale. I sent an email to my mom asking if they could go look. The next thing I know, I get a call from my son, he said they were in the car, on the way, and were they just supposed to look? Snickers wrapped him around her little paw and he brought her back to my mom's for a week before she flew home in a little carrier under the airline seat. My younger son had to leave for Boy Scout summer camp the morning before his brother and new puppy flew in. Poor kid had to wait a week to hug his new pup. It helped to have envious friends around when they got off the bus! Snickers was raised with children and LOVED them. If we took her to the park and she saw a child she would go nuts! We knew nothing about corgis or training dogs like a corgi and so we made a few mistakes that we are now trying to correct. She has always been a barrel of laughs but never cuddly or comfortable around strangers. She is starting to be a much nicer dog now. More about her accomplishments later.
In the mean time, my mom had taken in Dolly from a rescue organization. Dolly has been living on a ranch where she had acres of land to run around on. Except for teaching her not to leave the property, to bark (I don’t like) when she wanted a biscuit and to sleep on the furniture (I don’t like), she has had no training at all. My mom developed health problems this summer and decided she couldn’t keep Dolly (after a baby duck mysteriously died and the hurricane, etc). Fortunately, my older son was visiting and was able to drive Dolly home (this is getting to be a habit). His girlfriend loves Dolly to pieces and Dolly will be theirs when they can move to a place that allows dogs. Dolly has been getting trained and now knows simple commands like sit, down, fist bump and belly rubs (lay on your back), she stays off the furniture and doesn’t dart out the door, and now we can ever let her come in the front yard with us to get the mail without her running off! She is the most laid back dog you can imagine. She acts like a rag doll and will let you put her in any position. She made friends with Snickers and Jack right away, although it took a while before Snickers figured out how to play with her, now they are best buds. Dolly does not know how to play with people or toys, but when I get time I work with her and she will chase a small toy a few feet and bring it to her bed for a treat. Dolly has her dew claws and an extra toe on her back feet.

Yup, I tried the undo button. I'll just delete the photo. It wasn't so great to begin with. I'm just glad I could help you a bit.

Hello Snickmom. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend with your Pupsters. It's been very windy here and my Pack are having so much fun chasing leaves around. They try jumping up in the air to catch them before they hit the ground. . .LOL

  • WhiteDove

Hi Snickmom! I'm not sure if I can remember how to add the extra slideshow, it's been so long! You add the link into your profile information box. I think if you go to mine and click the "make your own" at the bottom, it'll give you the way to do it.

  • Heather Mitchell

I wish I knew what he is mixed with. I do know that the mother is a pure bred corgi...but they were unsure of the father at the shelter. I thought about doing one of the dog DNA tests one day. :) Yes, we noticed the markings early on. He has a LOT of energy! I was thinking maybe he's mixed with terrier or something? He also has an underbite on one side and makes these funny faces. :)

  • Heather Mitchell

Oh my gosh! That is too funny! I laughed out loud when I read your post! :)

  • Ashley Byers

Thank you so much! I will have to take a look. Your page looks great! :)

  • WhiteDove

    I'm glad you like my "crystal ball". . . . .

  • WhiteDove

Thank you so much for the Daisies. I love Daisies. I don't know if you were able to read any of my blogs but I had a tri named Daisy. Of course she came with that name but I wouldn't have changed it for the world. I only had her a short time but she left a big hole in our hearts and I still miss her. The Pupsters miss her too because now and then I find them laying where her favorite spot was.

  • Whitney and Ariel

Thanks for the welcome!  I have found this site rather addicting... maybe all these corgi pictures, lol.  The older spaniel in my photos is also a springer spaniel. Her name is Marty and she belongs to my sister. My sister's away at college, so she's hanging out with me for now. :) She's an older girl, so she doesn't do nearly as much running and playing as the pups do.

Ariel is pretty big on the snuggling. I think she must have learned to be a lap dog from the people who owned her before. (whoever they were!) Jasper, the corgi I had before her, did not like to be held at all, like your Snickers. It's a definate change to have a corgi charging into your lap whenever you sit down! :)

  • Whitney and Ariel

I just watched that adorable video of Jack and Snickers. So cute! Marty is not much of a player. She's pretty old, with gray all over her ears. Every now and then she will jump up and play with the group. Of course, she's very passive, so she 'loses' every game she pays. :) It is funny seeing my little corgi knock her over!

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Trust me, this was a first for our 2. Never thought I'd see the day!

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

    Absolutely!

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Well two take up a lot of bed space, so three...you'd probably be on the floor, haha. It's probably a better idea to keep them out of the bed, but it's too late for us to change now. I do love snuggling with Ricky, but, it can get dirty and forgettabout shedding!

  • Sadie

Thank you so much! I believe I get to visit the pups this week and the breeder sent us photos when they hit 4 weeks old!  I plan on doing a lot of training :) thanks for the tips!
  • Julia Holofcener

Thank you for your message.  Your dogs are adorable!  I can't believe how much Chloe has changed our lives.  We don't go anywhere without her, and as we live in Florida, we are able to eat out on terraces with her.  They all love her.  We are truly blessed!

    Thanks again!

    Julia!

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Happy New Year and all the best in 2012 and forever!
  • WhiteDove

Hello. . .thanks for the wonderful gift!!!!! Merry Christmas from my gang to yours. . . . .
  • Heather Mitchell

Merry Christmas to you and your family! :)
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Thank you so much for my snow globe. I love it! Hope you had the merriest Christmas and we've already exchanged new year's greetings.

So I think it's time to exchange names. I can't keep think of you as Snickmom! haha. I'm Wendy.

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

    Hey Hello Mary,

So nice to meet you. Thank you so much for all the gift you've sent me.

I am so happy to meet some good friends on mycorgi. I try to read each new members profiles, and only a few––like yours––strike me as someone I'd like to meet. So very happy to meet you! Keep in touch w/ me! Happy New Year, Mary, to you and Snick from me & my fam xoxo

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Snicker's a little ham. The camera loves him & vice versa, it seems. I can't wait to see your new year photos. So sorry. I don't know where I got Mary from. Hopefully it was just a temporary brain freeze or meeting too many new members this week!

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

btw, thanks for your kind words about Lucy. Generally Ricky gets all the attention bec. everyone seems to love a "bad boy." She seems to get lost in the shuffle on mycorgi, but not at home! it's funny, in your photos, Snickers looks bigger than 23 lbs. I guess it's just relative to Dolly's size. I thought Snickers would be closer to Ricky's size.

  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

    >Gromit and Doug: Can you teach me how to add thought bubbles to my pictures?

SM, It's pretty easy depending on the program you use.  I use Corel Paint Shop Pro X2.  It has a tool for adding a variety of pre-set vector shapes to an image, including a several shapes for thought or talk balloons.  You add the shape as a vector graphic (an element independent of the .jpg image), stretch the shape to the size you need, then add some text on top of that.   It's the same method most modern programs use for adding shapes and text, even non-graphic programs like Word and Excel. Very easy to do once you've done it.

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

I'm mighty impressed that you could understand Doug's instructions for captions. It went right over my head. Glad to see the captions you added! It's addictive!

  • Kim Vongbunyong

Aww! He absolutely does! Snickers is quite the cutie herself!

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

LOL. I saw you changed the caption on the tai chi photo. did you notice their dainty paws before I mentioned it? I always notice it on R/R because he's all boy, yet he always does that. Seeing Snickers and R/R posed like that was hilarious to me! Thanks for capturing the afternoon in all your photos.

  • Sam Tsang

Hi Snickmom, i think your idea is fine :)

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

LOL. I didn't know it posted twice. But, I'll take the compliment ; )

  • Jay & Bentley

Hey Snickmom!  Thanks for the warm welcome!

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

We're finally getting together an Orange County Group. How fun! How are things with your crew?

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

My corgi gang are doing great, but unfortunately, my youngest dgt, Marnie, 25, has an extruded spinal disk problem and may need surgery.

  • GW and Thea

Thank you for recommending the Itty Bitty Corgi group! It's great to know there are other littles like Thea, who seems to be the runt whenever we meet other Corgis!

  • Rian Taylor

Thank you for the link. I have been looking for a Pembroke for a while now and I think i finally found one today. I just have to puppy proof the house now and make sure that he is going to enjoy the hour and a half journey to his new home next friday.

  • Stephanie Hawthorne

    Thank you so much!

  • M.W.

Thank you for the welcome message! Glad to be here :)

  • Karise and Kiki

Thank you!  I joined the mix group, and I'm so happy I found this site.

  • Sam Tsang

Hi Snickmom, sorry to reply you so late, the reason why I required such high resolution / file size photo for the 365 was needing more room to work with. A lot of photos do require extensive cropping and further edits, every photo goes through this process, that's the difference that separates the professional from the enthusiast. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Shelbi Hart

Corky is almost one, his birthday is in February.

I was too nervous to change his name, we have a lot of nicknames for him though

  • Tess, Carly and Finnegan

Thanks for the welcome! My little red and white female, Carly, is one and a half and my tri boy, Finn, is six months. I need to take some new picture of him because he has lost a good amount of the black that was on his head as a pup.

  • Keri&Merlin(Judy&Alan's Pups)

Thanx for the comment about Our furbaby Merlin. In Your travels through Our pics, did You happen to see Logan Our Grandpup?Your Snickers looks alot like Him :).Love Your page here.Nice designing.Hope all is well with You and Yours.

  • Hunter & Tawny

Thanks for the comment. The park we took the pic at is in South Orange County in Foothill Ranch. Its right off Lake Forest Drive and Rue de Valore. The park is great, huge grass areas with baseball fields and sandy volleyball courts that he loves to run around in. I heard about the weekly Sunday meetup for Corgis in Huntington Beach that we may check out this weekend. But ya if the park in Foothill Sounds good, happy to meet up.  Your Corgi is great! Love her colors!

  • Hunter & Tawny

Great to know a fellow corgi so close! Well then ya maybe we will see you at Huntington Beach park Sunday.

  • veronica

Thank you. Yes, there still young the girl
Ruby is 9month and Bear is 7.
  • Sam, Gregg & Poopdeck

I am sorry I zapped out your question, I think it was what do we call him? I just call him Poop, his dad says Poodeck.  His whole name is Lord Admiral Horatio Nelson's Poopdeck.  I refused to call him Horatio and/or Nelson, I guess Admiral would have been easier to explain.

  • Karen Hickey

Thanks for the welcome. Gidget & Chami will be 2 years old in May. The are sisters and complete little loves. The really helped take some of the pain away when we lost our first Corgi to cancer 2 years ago. As for photo tips, that would be my husbands area of expertise. He's a professional photographer and does all of our fur baby photos.
  • Mila & Meatball

Hello! Meatball just told me that she's love to have more corgi friends! We haven't seen any corgis in the area so it's really a treat whenever we run into one! Meatball goes to the Laguna beach dog park every weekend so maybe we can set up a meet & greet? Lots of stinky kisses from Meaball =)

  • Rocky L Ranch

Thx for the welcome. I have a few puppy buyers who told me about the site so I joined. I have tons of pictures of my pups on my website - also a "puppy album" of shots my pet homes sent to me of their beloved corgis. I sent in a bunch of them last year to the parent corgi club's calendar committee and 12 of my corgis (that I bred and placed in pet homes) plus a few of my own that I show were featured! It was a gas!

  • Chris, Kadi & Brodie

LOL Cause Missouri loves company and the company I choose is corgis!
