About Me:
I live in the country and love animals so I have a variety of dogs(2 of my own corgis, Wynn and daughter Sage)2 rescues,a corgi mix and an Aussie) cats and free range chickens. I am lucky because I get to work close to my home and my dog(s) get to come with me...My husband and I have grown children and several beautiful grandchildren who love to visit and play with the animals. My love for Corgis started when I went to pick a female Corgi and Wynn picked me... he proceeded to walk up to me, lay his tiny little head on my foot and fall asleep.Wynn still parades around my house with one of my shoes and I always have to "look" for my shoe before I can leave...I did a Corgi rescue April (08) I felt like I wanted to help other Corgis...wow what an experience and I learned a lot. I also do corgi rescue when needed..Jackson now lives with Jennifer Markley. Calvin my Cardigan rescue lives with Joanna and Rainy my own Pembroke was rehomed and lives with Joanna's parents where she can be the "princess" and have her own people!

I have 4 Corgis.Wynn is my male Corgi that started this obsession with Corgis and he is now 9. Wynn's daughter Sage is 3 and a Therapy Inc.dog that often travels with me.Wiley my rescue is also about 8. Teddy my other rescue is about 11. Armani is my Aussie who thinks and acts like a corgi! Tank is a 4 year old Corgi mix. We decided to adopt him instead of another Corgi because he had already been in 3 homes at 1 year of age. Hi Jane...well I went out for the first time this week and brrrr!!  It was only 14 degrees and tonight it is supposed to get to 3 degrees.  We are supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow tommorrow but then by sunday its supposed to warm up again and melt!  I am all for the warm up. :)

My brother and his wife and two girls are moving to minnesota to live in about a month or so.  I am soooo bummed out.  Not so sure how often we will be able to visit, we  have too many siblings out of state, makes it way too hard.  I guess I better enjoy my babysitting time with them this weekend.  My youngest niece is only 7 months and the older one is only 3 1/2.

    Thank you

Abby does not shed like a Corgi... because of the Poodle in her. She may lose a few hairs but no shedding...

  • Joanna, Rainy and Calvin

Rainy had a good birthday!  My mom said she is the best present anyone could ever hope for.  She thanks you so much.  They just adore and love that little girl.

Thanks for the message. You have a gorgeous gang yourself! Pretty sure you could take over a small city with all those shorties (assuming there are no structures exceeding couch height of course).

    (:

Oh wow, be safe!!!. Hate this dangerous weather!

Hi Jane!  Just found out the Cardi Mom is pregnant with possible due date around March 20th. I am really hoping for a puppy from this litter and a blue merle would be ideal. It is really weird to have just one dog right now especially because Izzy is so quiet and undemanding. I have my fingers crossed!

This winter has been a bear for us here in Michigan too. No thaws, lots of snow and today rain/snow and high winds....ugh! Stay warm!

Who knows, Jane. It's fun being back and seeing old friends. I've gotten so busy with setting up my Long Beach, NY house. I also got caught up with Facebook, helping arrange our HS reunion. I could only handle one social network at a time. Corgis are more fun than reunion planning! But, the reunion was a ball.

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

I missed you too! And all my Corgi friends and families. We're flying back to CA with Ricky and Lucy in tow. Once I'm back in CA I hope to spend more time with all of you. xoxo wendy, lucy & ricky-rafa

  • Joanna, Rainy and Calvin

Hey Jane (and gang)!  So sorry that I have been lax in my corgi duties as of late.  I have been in and out of the hospital, my most recent bout ending today.  I also had an amputation earlier this year.  It's been rough.  I wanted to tell you about Calvin.  We found out today that he has a calcification on his vertebrae, and loose joints in his hips.  Art just went to get him at the vets.  I will have to let you know how it progresses.  My poor little bubby.  :(

  • Natsuhi Shirosaki

    thanks!

  • DJ

Thanks for your friend request and comments. My husband and I are really depressed about this whole situation. We had another Corgi about 10 years ago that was such a sweetheart, easy going delightful dog. He unfortunately had an untimely passing. We didn't have any dogs for a couple of years, so heartbroken. We went back to the same breeder and obtained Baxter. Life was great until I added Bailey to the mix. We really thought things would settle with age, time and patience. Ha!
  • Joanna, Rainy and Calvin

Just wanted to let you know that Calvin is getting rest and doing well! He is now off the tramadol and doggy advil, but is still taking glucosamine. We're keeping him off the couch so he doesn't do any jumping. We got him a harness and plan on walking him soon. Best of all, we've been giving him lots of love and he is back to his lovey, talky, chipper self! Hope you and yours are doing well, gearing up for the fall and winter, staying warm on those cold Minnesota nights!

PS All the neighbors still love Rainy!

  • Carol Rea

Hi Jane!  I have been hibernating.  Lost both Sonny and Lucky to DM and I just could not be around corgis.  Ready for a new pup or a youngish rescue.  Are you still breeding?  If so, what testing are you doing?  After 2 dogs on carts we need to know DM status, I expect you can understand.  Sitting here with tears, just looking at the faces of your dogs.  Carol

  • Carol Rea

You are so correct, corgis should live so much longer!  Last summer I had total reconstruction of my foot and was in a wheel chair for lengthy time as there were problems.  Both boys were in carts, Sonny only desiring to go backwards which caused major problems!Mike would carry the boys outside daily, make sure they could not Swiffer around the entire yard (Lucky was very good at getting into trouble) and they were out for the day.  This was not a good life for anyone.  In August, Sonny let us know that he was ready to leave this world and we let him go.  Lucky was with us until January - he had gained 5# of fluid in a week and we could not stuff him into his cart!  By that time I was on crutches, off to the vet who took off enough fluid to do an exam.  Large, inoperable tumor behind his heart.  So poor Lucky, found in a snowbank on Christmas Eve, IVDD w/surgery, DM and now this.  We could have come back 3X week for removal of fluid, but no.  We let him go.  I still cry.  He was my heart dog.  We have found a breeder, look her up and let me know!  Rogue Country Corgis

Happy Belated Thanksgiving to you and yours from Betty Boop and her lesser humans.

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Thanks, Jane. I miss you and seeing all your beautiful Corgis. Btw, have you heard of the supplement MicroLactin? We started giving it to our guys & Jack and I are taking it too, for joint health. My friend said it worked wonders for her 14yo GSD. Since Ricky's 2nd ACL repair, I want to keep his bones healthy. At least the surgeon said he can't tear his ACL again once it's repaired. The bright side!

  • Hayley Roda

Yes Gwen does have a tail. In the UK you can't dock dogs tails, and definitely can't show a dog with a docked tail, so yes we get cute little curly tails here!!

  • Hayley Roda

Aww lovely!! I love their little tails!! Where can I find this group for tailed corgis?

  • Hayley Roda

    Awesome, thank you!

  • Starry

Hi. Responding to your comment about Madison's heritage (hope this is the right place) :) Anyway, you wondered why I think she's mixed, so I thought I'd share.
I think she's mixed because after comparing her to photos of 1,000+ Pems and Cardigans (yes I was obsessive in my search, lol xD), I noticed she has some traits that are unlikely to have come from either breed.
First thing I want to point out is her white markings. See how small they are and how they don't cover much? Every Corgi I've seen, in the very least, has white that covers the front of their chest. She doesn't have much white on her chest. Also she has less white on her muzzle than I've seen in 99% of Corgis. I've seen a bunch of Collies and Shelties with white on their muzzle that was shaped just like hers. Maybe she's got a bit of that in her?

Next, I move on to her ears. Look how close together they are when she's attentive. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think 99% of purebred Corgis can put their ears up that high? They seem to have ears that are set wider apart on the head.

Next, I move on to the shape of her ears. See how pointy they are? Compare that to most Corgis. Their ears are usually more rounded. Sometimes you do find pointed eared Corgis (I think you have some?) but I've yet to find one with ears in precisely in her shape.

The next thing I want to point out is what the top of her muzzle looks like in profile. See how it's not straight? See how roman nosed (bent down) it is? Granted, I have seen a couple Pems with virtually identical muzzle tops, and several Cardis, but it's not super common. Pems usually have straight muzzle tops and Cardis, if they're roman nosed, aren't usually THIS roman nosed. However, this is a trait I saw in a lot of Dachshunds! Maybe she has some Dachshund?

Finally, her chest is different from a Pembroke in two ways. The first difference could be accounted for by her being a Pem x Cardi mix but the second difference seems like it would have to come from something outside the Corgi breeds. Okay, the first difference, which could come from being part Cardi, is that her chest is narrower and longer than a Pem chest. The narrowness is easiest to see in top view and the length is easiest to see in side view. The second difference is the depth of her chest. Depth you measure from the front view (dog looking at you). To measure it I look at the area from the base of the neck to where the chest terminates between the front legs. I could be off on this one but Madison's chest seems shallower than every Corgi that I've compared it too.

So, anyway this is why I affectionately call her "Madison the Almost Corgi" because she's close enough for me, hehe xD If you've got photos to prove me wrong though, feel free to share. I'd love to see! :D

  • Natalie, Lance &Tucker

thanks for the comment on  Tuckers video :)

  • Michelle & Jetty

Hi Jane, Thank you for the welcome :)  I cant wait until I can finally bring my little guy home.  Just over a week!

  • Helen Liu

Yep, Java has a tail! We're not allowed to dock tails here in the UK and personally I think they look great with tails. I'll show you a picture when I get home tonight :)

  • Helen Liu

Thanks Jane, they're all gorgeous though, each and every corgi out there!

It's great that a lot of airlines allow smaller pets to travel in cabin. Java might already be a bit heavy for some airlines though but there's always the option to travel by ferry or train.

If there is a demand for corgis with tails then why do people still dock them? Is it for shows?

    Joined the group, thanks!

  • Helen Liu

I tried but didn't manage to get a good shot of his tail. Here are a few photos taken 2 weeks ago buy Woofsnap:

  • Nam Phuong Nguyen

Thank you!! I know it won't last long because he's growing so fast!! Everyday he gets bigger!

  • Priscilla Taylor

Thank you Jane for the friends request. Earl weighs 25.3 lbs. I started today feeding him 1/2 cup morn and dinner. I will watch his weight and go from there. Thanks for the tips.

  • Brenda & Pemmy

Yes, she bas a tail :D. I kinda love the bunny butts of the tailless corgi's. But her mommy and daddy both had very fluffy tails, she's going to be a beautiful dog I'm sure.

Hi Jane, thanks for commenting on Tuckers pic.  Sorry just seeing it now, we were on vacation and then its been very busy getting ready for the new school year.  We got Tucker 4 1/2 years ago and he soon will be 8!!!!  Lance was only 8 1/2 when we lost him, so it seems so strange that Tucker is going to be 8 already... and we got him when he was 3, that March and that October he turned 4.

Hope you are all doing well, good to see you posting.  :)

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

I'm baaack, to stay, I hope. When things slow down, I want to read up on all my favorite mycorgi people and catch up. Sending big hugs and love your way, Jane. xoxo wendy

Hope your all doing well!!

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

It's been a while! How are you doing? Have you moved yet? I've been thinking about you and now I'm not sure if I already wrote, or was planning to. Uh oh...a senior moment for sure!

Hope all's well with you and your gang. xoxo wendy, lucy and ricky-rafa

  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

If I would have just scrolled down this page I would have found my answer. haha. Earlier today I had to put add my date of birth in a pull down window. My hand got tired having to scroll so long before getting to my year! ;)

    Thanks Jane,

Please let them know we live in Mass. Many people I've contacted do not want to do out of state adoptions.

I certainly appreciate your helping a Corgi in need.

    Tom.

  • Tom Maguire

    Hi Jane,

I never received your information . This was in regards to the 4yo in Minn.

I have checked my in box but nothing.

Since I'm new to the site, I may be doing something wrong.

    Thanks,

    Tom

Thank you so much Jane.  I did find a beautiful baby Corgi.  His name is Morty!  Not sure how to send you a photo of him.  I rescued an 8 year old Corgi named Gizmo and only had 5 months with him before he was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor.  Baby Morty will get all the love and friendship that we gave Gizzy for many years to come.
