Finnigan's birthday is coming up on September 15th and he will be 1 year old! I want to do something special for him (not that he'd really care but we don't have kids so he's all we've got) but I don't know what to do. I know many people celebrate their dog's birthdays so I thought it would be fun to hear some stories about your Corgi birthdays or any ideas you have for a fun birthday party. I was considering a birthday party at the dog park with local Corgis. We could bring birthday treats, favors and hats! Sounds like fun to me!

Congratulations to Finnigan! We took Madoc to a doggie party this summer and had a wonderful time-- and so did he! I think the hit for him was the dog "ice cream" called Frosty Paws. It was very cute to see all the dogs lined up with their little cups of it. We took a toy and a bag of treats (the birthday boy has an allergy so we got some especially for him.) The goodie-bags for the guests were tied up bandannas (which they could put on) with home-made dog cookies inside. It was late morning, and the people had quiche, fruit and mimosas! I think it is fun to have a slightly zany celebration of what gives us pleasure in life-- our dogs!
My friend cooked a dog-friendly recipe for her, her bf, and her golden to enjoy on his birthday. I think it was a Rachel Ray recipe? I thought that was a cute idea! A doggie party sounds like fun! I'm sure everyone would enjoy the excuse for a corgi meet-up.
Chelsea's birthday is coming up on 9/4 and I'm planning to have a party for her. We're going to do a backyard BBQ serving hot dogs for the humans and puppy chow snack mix (made with Chex cereal; fun snack). I'm going to try to make a doggie pinata, stuffing it with dog treats. I found some great websites with party supplies; just search "dog parties" and lots of stuff will come up. I think it's great to celebrate our furry BFFs. Folks we've invited are looking forward to it and know how much we love our girl so they are happy to join in the fun.
Stanley's birthday is on 9/14 and he'll be a year old! Too bad you're not in Orlando or we could celebrate together! I'm throwing a pool party for Stanley with all of his local Corgi buddies. We've rented a nearby pet resort for a 1 1/2 hours that has a bone shaped pool for the doggies. Sounds extravagant but the price was actually pretty reasonable. Plus, like you, we don't have kids so Stanley is our spoiled little boy. Plus, something about their first birthday that makes you wanna really celebrate!
That sounds like fun but it probably would cost more than we can afford at the moment. That would be awesome to throw a joint party if we lived closer. I agree that their first birthday is a big deal and should be celebrated. I never would have thought of a pet resort. That's such a good idea! :)

We live in an apartment so we don't have a yard to invite people over and bbq and that sort of thing but all of the house parties people mentioned sound like fun too. I do want to make dog treats! I'll have to look online for some recipes. It's so funny that we're putting more planning into Finnigan's birthday than mine which is next week. :)
