Hello, fellow corgi lovers. I am taking a trip to Las Vegas from Idaho and I am tempted to bring little Olive. If I do, is there anyone in the area who would want to meet up for a corgi play date? We will be there from July 27th through the 30th. I am teaching a yoga class at RollerCon this year at the Riviera. It's my first time in Vegas, so I am totally clueless. Should I entrust Olive to someone else or would this be a dog-friendly place? I don't drink or gamble, so I don't care about gettingn into the casinos or anything.

Any advice will be appreciated (even if it's not corgi related, but just Vegas related). Thanks!

Hi Chel, check out the las vegas group here, you'll get more response by posting regionally. Vegas in July is HOT, not humid hot, but dry heat oven hot, very different from ID.

You should be able to fly with a sherpa bag, different airline have different rules regarding pet travel, so call ahead and find out. If you plan to take Olive to a dog park / board / groom, you'll need a rabies / vaccine records.

Unless you plan to drive to the grand canyon / hooverdam, you really don't need to rent a car if you plan to on staying at the strip, taxi is cheap from the airport to the strip.

The strip is less than 5 miles one way, you can walk with your pooch early in the morning or late at night. If I remember correctly, Trump, 4 seasons, Westin, caesar's palace, rio, Paris, Bally's, Harrahs, Planet Hollywood, Flamingo and Imperial Palace are the only ones that are pet friendly (pet fee 30-100), of course you can always have the old faithful La Quinta (no fee).

There are many things to do for non drinker / gamblers:

1. Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay

2. Dolphin Habitat at Mirage

3. Red Rock Canyon (15 miles from the strip) - dog friendly

4. Stratosphere Tower

5. Fountains at Bellagio - dog friendly

6. Sirens of TI at Treasure Island - dog friendly, beware of loud noise, make sure you adjust the collar

7. MGM Grand Lion Habitat

8. Cirque du Soleil

9. Concerts / comedy / magic shows / clubs / pool parties

10. SPA

In my opinion, you will enjoy vegas more if you leave Olive at home, think of it as a mini vacation for yourself, get pampered, go eat some good food, recharge and comeback to a pup who's gonna shower you with kisses :)
