Dogs may get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no dogs.

I think that was said a little differently the first time I heard it -- and I wouldn't kick a job out of the house just for having dirty paws -- but these critters do help keep things in perspective. There are three, not two, things that money can't buy: true love, homegrown tomatoes, and a poke in the eye with a cold wet loving nose.

And may all of us human critters get through these troubles with good grace.

Amen to that!
words of wisdom :)
Thanks, John - what a great perspective. You may remember that Kai has been attacked again, and his lesson is not to be bitter or vengeful, but to get back to the important things - PLAY! So if I might add to that, don't forget to play.
Wonderfully said, John.
Cheers! *clangging glass* Well said.
Well said.
I can't fathom how anyone could give up a pet because they think they can't afford it anymore.
Agreed. Well said.

I can say the best thing I've had happen in a year is my new dog. Within the last year, I've been divorced, moved between states 4 times (at least 700 miles per), forced to quit an amazing job to work retail, met an amazing man who's now deployed to Iraq with an ever-extending tour, watched my little brother join the Army, and managed to meet so many wonderful people along the way.

Then I was gifted a dog. I love my dog. He's just getting excited when I come through the door, and insists on sleeping at my feet, following me, and sitting down by me for some petting every half hour or so. When I throw things, he brings them to me, and when I get tired he bites my feet. When I don't look, sure he eats cat poo, but what would I do without crunchy kisses on my hand? This next year seems to be quite promising looking at his little fluffy butt. Everything he knows about manners depends on me, and I get to be the one so proud when he's a nice friendly dog wagging his "tail" when we meet new people.

I love my dog even though I'm flat broke.
I agree! No matter what your dog/dogs will bring a smile to your face and a joy in your heart! Nothing can compare.
I will give away all my furniture and most of my clothes, before my furbabies.
