Well, the Twixter was doing well with his name.. But now he won't even look at me when I say it. (Well, when I have something of interest to him, but he can tell when I don't, somehow.. Even if I pretend to, he looks at me like, "Do you think I'm stupid?" and goes back to half dozing.)

I don't know if I should just give up with it and go back, or if I should keep trying? I don't really want to give up, but hubby isn't sticking with the new name, he keeps forgetting.

SIGH. Silly man.

Oh, also trying to rename him has brought to my attention.. He responds better to "Corgi" than he does to not only Twix.. But also Ziggy.

It's almost every time without fail that he responds to Corgi, and almost never with Twix and about half the time with Ziggy..

I feel like I should just be calling him Corgi almost LOL... Help?

What do you guys think I should do?:P

I was doing a bit of both, but since he is not needing the extra treats with his weight, I haven't been treating very much.

I will start up again with treating him tomorrow, but it does worry me with his weight, siggghh.

That's funny, you're the second person to say that on here, so weird.. Must be a Corgi thing, because you're right-I've never heard of any other kinda dog coming to their breed name:P

One posibility would be to keep half of his normal dog food in a baggie that is with you and use those as treats.  That way, it's no extra food.  If you have any leftover at the end of the day, he could either get that put in his bowl or do a quick rapid fire training session.
I do have some healthy treats for Scout.  They're Natural Choice brand blueberry treats.  The only grain in them is brown rice.  They even smell good.  Scout LOVES them and knows the sound of the bag they come in.  So you could use something like that for the "genius" moments.

"Corgi" does have that cute ring to it where it would almost work as a name. Maybe that's why we use it?

Have a wonderful day and have fun with Twix!

Try calling him twixey. It still has the same "ee' sound as ziggy. For some reason I think dogs like the eee sound the best ie. Corgi, ziggy.

My pups named cricket but he responds better to pudgy or pudgy body or puppy. Maybe he doesn't think Crickets a manily enough name. Haha.
