I love the new corgi cards! But i don't really understand it. Do we use that card through our bank? I have a debit card now.. but i don't understand how the corgi visa works.
It is a regular credit card, not a debit card. It's set up so that the rewards that you earn through purchases go to corgi rescue. If you click on the link, the terms of the card and the APR are listed there. You still would have to apply for it like any other credit card.
Hi -- a credit card is unconnected to any of your bank accounts. When you apply for a credit card, the card company (usually a bank) will look over your credit record, and if they like what they see, they will issue you the credit card with a maximum balance you can use. What this means is, they have issued you a line of credit, a short-term loan. If you do not use the card, you owe them nothing. If you use the card and pay back the full balance the same month, you will only owe them what you borrowed. If you use the card, but upon receipt of the bill, only pay back a portion of your expenditures, they will typically charge you interest on the balance, and that interest will continue until you pay the card down to zero again. The Corgi card, I believe, right now, charges no interest on the balance for a period of time when you first get the card. Other cards can charge from 4% to whopping double-digit percents. So with a credit card, you want to be VERY CAREFUL that you only use it to buy something you know you can pay for! However, having the credit card and using it wisely (i.e., stay well below the maximum balance in what you charge, and pay off the total every month), if you don't have a credit card now (as it sounds, from your question), can help your credit rating.
