In July my brother is getting married, and my boyfriend and I are spending two days in Alabama where the wedding it, and then going to Louisiana for a couple more days to spend some time with my family. I'm unsure if I should take Roscoe (the corgi) with us or leave him with a friend.

While we're in AL, we'll be staying in a hotel. I found a La Quinta Inn right near the wedding venue, which doesn't charge extra for pets and allows you to leave them unattended in the room. Once we're in Lafayette, Roscoe would be able to play with my mom's corgi, Saxan. They have much fun when they're together.

My main concern are the two days or so in AL. I'll be running around doing wedding stuff, as I'm a bridesmaid, and Roscoe will pretty much spend those days on his own in the hotel room. I could baby gate him in the bathroom so he wouldn't get into trouble, but I'm a little concerned about him barking while we're not there, plus I would feel really guilty when we're out for hours and he's hanging out in the bathroom. However, the next two days after that would be great for him - after we travel to LA, he'll be able to play with my mom's dog and have a great time.

He travels fine, so I'm not worried about that. Another part is that I really want this to be like a vacation for my boyfriend and I, since it'll be the only one we get this year. I don't want worrying about Roscoe to hold us back from doing things. The alternative to bringing him is leaving him with my boyfriends sister, which would be fine. I really don't like leaving him for a week, but I'm sure he would be fine there.

Any advice to help me make up my mind?

I'm kind of leaning toward leaving him at home, with your friend/bf's sister/whoever. I would feel better about him having someone there to supervise him and keep him company rather than bringing him for the trip and leaving him alone. But, I know what you mean, it would be nice to bring him along, since I would miss my corgi so much!
I wish I had some advice for you but I am in the same situation. We are planning to go out to Denver this May to see our new nephew and we can't decide whether to drive out so we can bring Monty or fly out and spend more time with family as it will take two days to drive out there. Good luck in deciding...
