I'm heartbroken. He's almost 5 months (16 wks), is 9 lbs, and has had no structure besides the window-cage he's kept in. I've dubbed him Zorro because he has a bit of a mask...and because he's teething and very deftly left his "marks of Zorro" all over my hands. It's obvious that he's smart, energetic and healthy. He seems a bit overfed, if anything (they had to have put three whole cups of puppy food in his dish). So why am I heartbroken? Because they're already marketing him as "older" and "on-sale" (for a "steal" at $945 + tax). Because he's registered with APR and--from what I've gathered about APR--is likely to be the product of a puppy mill. Because I don't want to fund Debbie's Pet Land but I do want to make sure he gets out of there. And because Mike and I are still hemming and hawing about whether or not we're ready for another dog right now.
So I thought I'd turn to you all. Zorro obviously needs a family who is used to corgis' energy and playfulness and need for consistent training. He'll need a family with patience and time to keep him busy. I'd love to hear that he ended up with someone that was ready and willing to take on the challenges of an "older" puppy, whether or not that someone ends up being me.
If you're interested, I'll send you the information I have about him. If you've got advice for anyone interested (myself included), please post it here! I'm also thinking I should notify Mayflower Pem Rescue, even though he's not technically eligible for rescue; they might just be able to find the right person to go scoop him up.
