I'm heartbroken. He's almost 5 months (16 wks), is 9 lbs, and has had no structure besides the window-cage he's kept in. I've dubbed him Zorro because he has a bit of a mask...and because he's teething and very deftly left his "marks of Zorro" all over my hands. It's obvious that he's smart, energetic and healthy. He seems a bit overfed, if anything (they had to have put three whole cups of puppy food in his dish). So why am I heartbroken? Because they're already marketing him as "older" and "on-sale" (for a "steal" at $945 + tax). Because he's registered with APR and--from what I've gathered about APR--is likely to be the product of a puppy mill. Because I don't want to fund Debbie's Pet Land but I do want to make sure he gets out of there. And because Mike and I are still hemming and hawing about whether or not we're ready for another dog right now.

So I thought I'd turn to you all. Zorro obviously needs a family who is used to corgis' energy and playfulness and need for consistent training. He'll need a family with patience and time to keep him busy. I'd love to hear that he ended up with someone that was ready and willing to take on the challenges of an "older" puppy, whether or not that someone ends up being me.

If you're interested, I'll send you the information I have about him. If you've got advice for anyone interested (myself included), please post it here! I'm also thinking I should notify Mayflower Pem Rescue, even though he's not technically eligible for rescue; they might just be able to find the right person to go scoop him up.

That's so sad... I would grab him but the landlord says only one dog right now and Killian is still such a handful at 5 months. I can't blame you for not wanting to support Deb's either. They have to be one of the most foul "grab-and-go" dog shops and the fact that they're always in a mall horrifies me a little.

Good luck to the Pemmy there though - even if I can't break him out, maybe I'll visit to give him a little socializing and outside of the cage time? Sounds like he needs it...
Yes! If that's the least we do then we've helped him a little. Just be prepared to ask for a chew toy to start with: he's pretty nippy. (Aren't they all at that age though?)
$945 sounds like a lot of money for a mall dog; especially a Corgi.

We have to get Camber into doggie play groups so she is playful with other dogs before we'll consider a 2nd one for us unless the Corgi "just happened" and Camber is ok with it.
Do you know if he is still there ?
I just called to check in, and he's gone! Hooray! No more days being the corgi in the window :)

Thanks for chiming in guys; it was such a relief to have people to tell after we met him.
Ha! I actually just called to check up on him myself. :) According to the girl on the phone he found a home on Monday! I am very relieved and happy to hear that he found a place that isn't that tiny Debby Petland cage to call home.
