Anyone know a good training club in the Hampton Roads area? I googled a few, and a woman I met in the park said I should look into Merrimac Training Club in Hampton. Any suggestions out there?

Dear Jennifer and Matt, Hello. Your Corgi looks so sweet.

Hi everyone! Matt and I live in Chesapeake. He's my first corgi and also the first dog both my husband John and I have had together (we've been together almost 7 years and both grew up around dogs.)

We rehomed Matt from a very loving home way out on the peninsula since his wonderful owners wanted him to have a more energetic family. Everyone seems very happy with the way things have turned out!

Check out some local events! I posted the Dog Days of Summer thing in our Discussion forum as well as added it to the EVENTS listing on the main mycorgi.com site. I'll definitely be there with Dexter, as well as at the Peninsula SPCA Wash-N-Wag, a fundraiser on July 25th at the SPCA building where the volunteers wash your dog for donations. :D If you haven't been to the Peninsula SPCA in a while check it out, it has improved a lot in the past few years. ^o^

For more info on the Wash-N-Wag, check out:

Ooh. I don't know about that Bark Park. I was going to get a membership to the Sandy Bottom Nature Park one, but now I am a little nervous to go to any public places like that what with the Parvo scares going around lately. :/ Maybe we could go to a beach or something, or meet up at a city center somewhere. ^o^ I'll keep an eye out for public events!

I'm game. Piper loves to run and play with other dogs and it'd be nice if she could meet up with other short-legged creatures so that she doesn't get a complex.

I usually take her to a Bark Park in Hampton (Ridgeway) off Mercury by Fox Hill but you have to be registered with the city to do that.

I just read all of the comments on here. ^o^ We should definitely get together somehow to have a play date. I really think Dexter needs to learn what real Corgis are supposed to act like. I think he's starting to think he is a cat. :/

Are there any other dog friendly event taking place some time this summer we could try to meet up at?

Pet Palooza has been cancelled this year (May 30th & 31st 2009). I just found this out and am upset. So, don't go because the event is cancelled.

I have to convince my husband it is a good idea, just because Ein and his sister aren't that fantastic on leashes. We've been looking for some cheap training, seeing as I just moved out here from Cali, but might be able to go for the PetSmart one if anyone coule recommend it. I'm just scared to get him around any girlies, because he's not fixed yet. I'm waiting to see if I can breed him or not before I fix him. I'd love to have one of his puppy's >./body>
