Gracie starts officially next week. We went to the orientation last night at the Lawrenceville Kennel Club. I'm worried she is going to embarrass us! :) I know it will be really good for her and hopefully she will learn some good manners. She seems to have some funny issues with me. She loves my husband to death and loves me, most of the time. She likes to come and bark at me and try nipping at me. I correct her but yelling "no", "no bite" and "ouch" seems to make her more excited. She especially likes to bark at me when I am on the sofa. My husband thinks it is funny but it kind of hurts my feelings. Hopefully the instructor in the class can help me work on this. I guess she thinks of me as another litter mate and respects my husband! :)

Gracie is not very good on leash either. I'm sure all of these areas will be worked on. I know she will be a good dog....one day! :)

Hi, I only did agility classes here in GA at Canine Capers which is off of Peachtree Industrial--excellent place if you ever decide to do that.

I lived in Tampa when Mishka was a pup and took her to two obedience classes back to back when she was a pup and it helped tremedously. She would listen and stay right by us throughout her life--a lot of people in the Corgi club that knew her said how well trained she was. The nipping is usual from what I remembered--Mishka did that until she was about 9-10 months with us, and like to nip at our heels still up until she passed away; they think it is fun. When I had two cats, she would herd the cats sometimes too. I know one thing with the class is that they do say that we need to show we are in charge right away. Hope this helps some!
There is one gentleman who does a puppy class LKC and he seems like he would really be able to give you some insight to her behavior. I'm sure all of their instructors can but he seemed so nice. That being said, I think it is a girl thing. Both of our female dogs have always paid more attention to my husband than me. Sometimes I have to get him to call Twinkie to him and then give her to me. I think Amy, our older female, thought there was a chance she could be alpha female. As for my daughter, forget it. I swear Amy used to try to push her down the stairs : ) I'm sure you will get many, many helpful hints in class. Good luck!
