Hello,
I've been wanting to get a corgi for years now and recently became serious in my searches. I've been emailing with a couple of breeders in Idaho and Washington, looking for upcoming litters. Does anyone have a breeder they love that they can refer me to? Thanks!

I just found out my female is pregnant. We hadn't planned on it and had separated them for over a week so it won't be a big litter. I will post pictures when she has them in a few weeks.
Oh my...more Corgis? LOVE THEM!!!! Are you keeping them, how much you want for them "if" you are sharing, lol!
I reccomend Linda Berke of LL Stables. We got our red & white corgi (Mato) from her and everyone who meets her loves her and she loves everyone back! Great temperment. Linda lives in Selah, WA and also breeds horses. I don't have her number but if you google her name and LL Stables of Selah you will find it. Nice down to earth lady. Our other dog's breeder is no longer breeding.
Good luck,
Melanie
I searched for her, but couldn't find her. Do you know of anyone else who may have her contact info? Thanks!
Hi,
Try Linda at (509)697-5774. She has a website at www.triplelpaintsandquarterhorses.com with a link to corgis. The website did not seem very current. Hopefully she is still breeding.

We adopted Joshua last December from Kathleen Mallery of Castell Welsh Corgis, in Parma, Idaho. My husband and I liked her and found her to be very knowlegeable, experienced, and actively involved in both showing corgis and corgi rescue. She seemed to make a big effort to match people with dogs who would be a good fit for their personalities and lifestyles, and she has kept in touch with us over the past few months to see how Joshua has adjusted to becoming a "city dog" and has answered questions and offered training advice to us as well (FYI, Joshua was one and a half years old when we adopted him - he was not a puppy). I don't know if she's actively breeding currently; she did not have any puppies when we were there in December and she didn't mention any upcoming litters at the time. Her website is:

I've actually been emailing with Kathleen and trying to figure out a time to go over there and meet her dogs. I wouldn't mind an adult dog.
There's a DM thread on this site. I read the original paper, and if their control group is representative of the general PWC population, 66% of pems are homozygous, at-risk for DM, so only a small percentage of at-risk dogs do develop DM.
One speculates why this allele is so prevalent in PWC. It may be a "founder effect", or perhaps some valuable corgi trait is closely linked to it -- in which case it's been inadvertently selected FOR.
You are right, I think: any responsible breeder will be screening for DM (the test is offered FREE to breeders, I believe). This disease can be eliminated if all breeders do this.
We have 2 Pembrokes bred by Carrie Hale (Bellevue/Issaquah) and Joyce Gilpin (Monroe). Carrie impresses us as a very serious, responsible breeder. We came back to her for a second. She kept the litter together til 12 weeks and personally delivered Al to our home. I believe our Al's sire was something like 3rd in the PWCCA nationals a coupla years ago. We are 150% pleased with our two dogs and their wonderful personalities.
Along with others, you can find her contact info here:

Also note Teresa Blackstad of Sandpoint ID on that website; I know nothing about her other than our neighbor's dog, a gorgeous, fun, tri corgi, best dog in the world except for Gwynn & Al.
Carrie is the best, We have two beautiful, amazing, funny Pems from Carrie's Siana. Siana is a great mother to her pups, with a wonderful, patient disposition. Our two year-old, Audrey, is a tri fluff, and our 8 month old Harris is a red & white fluff. I know there's trend for breeders to use genetic testing to try to eliminate fluffs from the breed, but I'm glad that responsible breeders like Carrie -- who has bred many champions -- also recognize the value of the corgi as a pet and family dog. We were never intending to breed or show our dugs, so the fluffs were perfect for us.
Carrie has been a great advisor and mentor to our family, and her love for all of the dogs she has bred is very genuine, We were lucky to have found her.
My husband and I got our two tris from a guy named Clint Peters in Spokane Valley. He's awesome and we mail him photos of our dogs and he calls us every once and a while to see how the pups are doing :) I don't know if he is still breeding or not, but his number is 509-499-5432. Good luck :)
Thanks to everyone who has offered their advice. Unfortunately, it looks like I won't be getting a corgi for another couple of years, since I'm looking at master's programs in England.
