My husband and I will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary on July 23, 2011! Have 2 human kids and 2 fur kids. I now have the four kids I've always wanted. :)
Name: Lance
Breed: Cardigan Welsh Corgi(Blue Merle)
Birthday: October 30, 2005.
Current Age: 8 1/2
RIP 5-3-14
Was an only dog for 5 years, but not anymore! Learning about sharing, I hear sharing is good. :) I have corgi buddies already so hopefully it wont be too hard to share with my brother.
Lance is a pure breed cardigan corgi, at the moment he may appear like he is not because his ears are floppy. Lance is dealing with auto immune issues and vasculitis of the ears which affects the blood flow in his ears.
Name: Tucker
Breed: Red and White Pembroke. Was rescued from the
shelter March 6, 2011
Birthday: October 12, 2007
Current Age: 6
Tucker is a sweetheart, seems quite comfy here. :) So glad to be out of the shelter. I was so sweet the first time I met my potential owners I gave them lots of corgi kisses, I stole their hearts. <3
I have a work function that we are going to on Sat., then a fundraiser for a friend of mine that has pancreatic cancer...sunday-no plans!!!! I have been home from work the past 3 days with this nasty upper respiratory infection
Thanks for your note. The homework varies, depending on how much gets done at school. Cookie is fine, because I am coming home sooner (working M-F, but leaving when school is out). I was in Palos Park on Friday and thought of you...is that close to you? The picnic was fun and we met a lot of corgis! There is a new movie just out...Fireproof...I want to go see it. Have a great day. JY
Congrazt on your cubbies winning the NL Central. I knew before the season ever started it was going to be a very long season rooting for my Astros. Good luck in the playoffs.
No, kitty is still missing. But, that's how cats are. My husband has had hundreds, literally during his lifetime...they just leave sometimes. I keep posting signs and notices on craigslist.org, but nothing. Also checked the pounds and even their deceased list....nothing. I can tell there is a missing feeling in Abby, although she has no problem herding my other cat now!! She definately has a strong "mothering/herding" instinct. It's fun to watch.
Are you going to dress Lance up for Halloween?? I don't have anything to do yet, but I want to be Little Bo Peep and dress Abby up as my sheep. :)
A bee!! that's too precious! I was at Petsmart over the weekend and they had ballerina tu-tus for dogs and I almost picked one up...but i'm sticking to the sheep. I know some people hate that we put people clothes on our dogs...but they're just too cute not to!
He'll be so happy to hear that someone likes her name, because he (and only he) picked it out. I'm glad we found this place (just last night). Peyton just loves seeing all the Corgi's. I had to tell him this morning that it's too early to be looking for a dad for Pearl's pups (she's just 13 weeks!) Oh, I love that boy.
Try to stop them. I love it when Gwynnie hops out of the car at the trailhead; she is READY to go! Although this peak (MT. Pugh) is a real mountain with the kind of view you usually have to rope-up to get, like many peaks around here, it once had a USFS fire lookout on it, so it has a fine trail all the way to the summit. Not a hard thing by local standards. People were doing the 3.5 mi/5300' hike in as little as 3 hrs. We got delayed by the weasel and the wounded skunk.
It was VERY interesting watching Gwynnie learn to hike: at first reluctant to get her feet wet, now she swims. They STILL amaze me when I stand by to give them a "corgi toss" over an "obviously" insuperable obstacle, and they just run right past me. They can do steep snow and thick brush. The only terrain they cannot handle is coarse talus, big boulder fields. They learn routefinding skills around obstacles like logs without being able to see over them, like we can.
I met a bow hunter who said his brother used to hunt BEAR with 4 corgies!!! "Good noses, not afraid, smart enough to know when to back off." !!
My understanding is that cardies were bred for the steeper terrain of Cardiganshire, so sometimes I wonder if they'd be better mountaineers. Sometimes I find myself wishing that my dogs had longer legs... but I usually catch myself just in time. :-) Gwynnie holds the record so far: 23 mi., 14 hrs., 8000'+ of elevation gain.
aw, you know I watched the first one? but not tonight. what dance did they do to it? the fox trot? what couple? (i'd love 2 know) it really is an awesome song! it has such an amazing beat! being a pianist, I love to recognize talent far better than mine! I don't have cable or sattelite either...so I provbably won't see it :( but YAY! go Sam Sparro!!
Thank you for the welcome! It is nice to know their are other people out there as "obsessed" for lack of a better word this morning, with their corgis as I feel I am. LOL. My family and friends tend to tease me about my furry family member.
Yes that is Charlie our horse with my son and dog. My son Cayuse Junior Rodeo'd this summer on him. He is old but reliable. I am hoping that next year we can move out of town and get a few more.
That is Levi, I was told he was a mini aussie but from the looks of him that is not the case. I am waiting on his papers still. He just turned about 4 months if the age they gave me is correct. I love their coloring also. I am having a hard time right now with the fact that he so far minds wonderfully, but his corgi sister is going through a stage of not wanting to come when she is called and running away from us. I was told to use lots of treats but she has also gotten finicky about the treats and after a couple of times gives me her "yeah right" look and ignores me. I am hoping that this doesn't rub off on him.
We still haven't figured out how she got in since that was earlier this summer when she couldn't even reach it when she stood up on her hind legs, it was priceless when she figured out she had been caught. Hehe. And boy did she know she was in trouble.
I believe he is a full size aussie. He has went from 19 pounds to 26 in about 4 weeks. And has probably grown at least 4 inches taller. Is yours a full size aussie?
KC likes banans, and yesterday I caught her throwing a Trix around the kitchen and chasing it lol. I think the other fruit she tried and liked was a strawberry but we don't have those very often.
Aww thanks so much. I am so sorry for your brother but at least Riley had a friend to travel over the rainbow bridge with together that day. It is so hard to loose our loved ones but it's a part of life and yes that Avril song really does sum up how I feel right now. I know one day I will be able to put a happier song on his page.
Hi Natalie! I am fine, FINALLY feeling better after almost a month of this coughing...grrrrrrrr. I saw on Pawsitively Heaven pet spa page that they are having a halloween party this month.

Kristen is the trainer there.....her company (Advances in Animal Behavior) is sponsoring it. I am thinking of taking Spencer (probably won't dress him up), but i think it could be a lot of fun!
Oh he will!!! Spence boarded overnight once and it took a couple of days for him to rest up when he got home. He won't be mad, they are so good there...such nice people!
Good Morning Natalie and Lance! Thank you for the comments, it is easier to get them to pose together then my real children lol. I love the blue merles also, I would love to get a corgi that color. That is actually what I had originally wanted but I couldn't afford most of them and the lady I got KC from has known me forever and she had these ones available. And of course I could not resist that face when I saw the pictures on the email let alone when I saw it in person. My son wanted to take them all home lol. Someday..... right now we live in town but are hoping ot be able to move to the country next year so I am planning on having a whole herd of dog, much to my hubby's dismay.
Wow... Lance is really striking - what a beautiful dog! I love how his dark ears frame his face. :D Love the picture of him with his ball, looking outside.
I can say the at the Cardis and the Pems are very different as puppies, that's for sure! I always wanted a blue merle Cardi too. Amazing how many people don't know what he is, I'm finding. :)
Its not hard at all..just go to www.blingee.com and upload a picture and then design it and save to your computer to constantly go back to for using in the comment section. Blue Merles normally are alot more grey but Lance is UNIQUE and he's YOURS!!!
They are good. KC is a little disgruntled because we have been making her sleep in the crate again, but she gets over it. She is getting fixed on Tuesday. And he is going in the following week. They don't know yet hehehehe. I can't believe she is old enough since she is so small but I don't want any aussie/corgi babies for Christmas lol. Hope you and Lance are doing well.
Hi Natalie. Thanks for the warm thoughts. Peanut has a sensitive tummy and i had to find out the hard way. He will eat almost anything, but we have to be careful what he eats -or rather- inhales . surprisingly peanut's tummy doesnt like bones. hard bones of any kind will make everything in my tummy go up the other way~
Have fun on your trip. I am sure Lance will love all the "presents" you bring him back lol. Maybe some of those Micky Mouse ears with his name on them.
Hi! Well, here in Brazil it's quite hard to get a corgi, but I bought Laika (female) in a breeder here in Sao Paulo. Maple Leaf (male) was given to me after a breeder's breakdown. Since there's a few corgis here, they are brothers from the father side. And Tati is my name, their "mother"! :D
Hi Natalie! Glad to hear you are back and had a nice trip! I am especially happy that Lance had such a great time...I knew he would. They are great at the Spa! Spencer was not there during that time, but I am looking forward to Spence and Lance meeting one day...I think they would be great friends!
'would love to hear about your Disney vacation. Did you take the girls out of school? We are off Oct 30-31; are you guys? I have the afternoon of the 30th off. Becca and Sarah want to see the Chihauhua movie. Have you seen it? Cookie is doing fine...Drew was off this week and I think he bonded with Cookie!
Well, good thing you've gotten some vacation, and also good luck with your work! I'll make sure I've got some photos in the album (and I'll try to organize them), so pretty soon there'll be some nice new pictures of Maple and Laika. BTW, my name is Tatiana, Tati is a nickname!! Cya!
I gave up and let her get back to normal life. I couldn't handle the restricted activity anymore than she could. And poor Levi didn't know what to do without his friend to play with. Everyone was depressed.
Hi Natalie,
Yes Spencer is ready! He is not over doing it with a costume.....just a scrunchy collar that has skulls on it.....he is so excited to meet you and Lance and to see his new friends Jenny and Ziggy again!
