About Me:
I work as a lobbyist-not a bad thing! LIve the rural life with Corgis, rescue dogs, horses, chickens, cats. Two beautiful grown daughters. If I had my choice I would quit my job, stay at the farm and raise corgis and horses!
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
We are honored by the presence of Lizzie (Q Lizzie Beth) and Fergie(FCF's Royal Ferguson) and Brodie (FCF's Little Bonanza Brodie). Recent additions to the family are Fern (puppy mill rescue and princess), Poppit (blind rescue), and accidental addition Sherman--my failure as a foster mom! Lizzie is our 7 year old Black-headed tri-color Corgi. True to the breed. It is like living with a cartoon charactor. Fergie is our three-year-old Red/White female and a real snuggle bug. Brodie is a black headed tri who is 1.5-years old. Fern is a 4-year-old red/white Corgi that was rescued from a puppy mill in January 2008 and was in Foster Care for six months! She has some special needs, but has adapted beautifully! She is quite the charmer. We celebrated her one year anniversary with us in May 09. Poppit has been with us for just a couple of months. She is a red-headed tri and she is completely blind-juvinile cataracts and small eyes--the result of poor breeding. We are working on her social skills and she is coming along. Sherman (formerly known as Denver) is a 15 month old red and white bundle of love and energy.

Well, I'm moving to Stamford CT. It's close enuf to NY that I call it NY. I am now planning on driving. Although Yesterday I went to get my oil changed and the battery connectors touched some metal and a part in the back top area of my engine caught fire... So, I have to have it fixed. Had it towed to a goodyear mechanic place and it's still in line to be looked at. I just called them to check to see if they have started looking at iut yet. He said probably first thing in the morning. I have about $500 I can spend on getting it fixed, the rest of my money I will need to have enough money for gas to get to NY. I hope it's just a wire or something. We will see. I got rid of a bunch of my stuff as I had originally planned to fly over there and store my truck. I fould out it would be like $150 a month to store it. So, we decided it would be better for me to drive it over. We will see.

I will be driving through Nebraska on I-80. Not sure what day yet. Or where i will be stopping to sleep etc yet. It would be cool to stop for lunch or something. If I can get your phone number? That way I can call you like the day before I get there or something... As I probably won't be on the computer during my trip. What city are you near that's on the interstate? That way I know where I'm going to be stopping :D

Awww,,thanks for your sweet comment,,Im still learning photography,we go out every weekend to shot,,it's my get away and i love it :o) Thanks again
  • TrevorAlan

Yes, Dax is adorable and it will break my heart to lose her. But that's why I am not really looking to just give her away but really find someone who has a great need themselves and woudl make Dax their one beloved baby. I am really thinking of a retired person who doesn't have a daily job or small kids. I'd even offer to watch her again when they took vacations.

I don't have to get rid of her, I just think there is a better home for her in the Lincoln area. Know another bulletin board I can spread the word through?
  • Brinton

That is really funny! You're pictures are great! I do know Mark. It has been a really long time since I have seen him. I use to live just down the street from him. I think my dad and him were on the school board together or within a year or two apart.-- We are definitely thinking about the social!
  • Desi's_Mom

Thanks, everyone loves her colring and her markings.
  • Bobbi & Penni

We had a black lab/golden retriever mix named Jake. He was 12 years old when he was hit by a car out front of our house. He was losing his hearing and probably didn't hear the vehicle. But whoever hit him didn't stop, just left him in the road. Our good neighbor found him and pulled him out of the road..we were at work when it happened. He would have been about 16 by now if he was still living! We got him from the Fremont Humane Society when he was a pup. A great dog! We miss him alot.
I never heard of a Leonberger! But I saw your pictures!!What a pretty dog!!
We are just west of 22 & U. Really only a few miles away!!
  • Bobbi & Penni

I was thinking the same thing!! ..he was the best farm dog ever, very attentive, he used to watch by boys when they walked to school (there is an old one room school house about 1/2 mile or so east of our house, now a private home) and wait for us every day in the yard. He was my husbands "bud"!! Here is Jake about 4 months before he left us...

  • Bobbi & Penni

Now that I see her picture I would have to agree!! I know there was more than 1 sibling when Tom (my husband) got Jake! He will be very interested to see that picture !!
I would love to meet her, it would almost be like seeing old Jake again!! I'll have to go for a (long!) walk your way and see you!
    What a small world!!
    (another pic of Jake)

Snowy is in Texas right now being shown with Barbara Weiner, she handles his older brother Ike who she got up to number 3 in the country right now. He had his first show last week with her and got a winners reserve at a majors the first day. No points but close. The rest of the gang is doing good. Buttercup will be getting alot more walking and running time now that the weather is getting warmer, she still big hahahaha, and with a little luck Snowy will be back in time for her next cycle which should be July sometime
  • Bobbi & Penni

Ill look for some old puppy pictures of Jake and when the weather gets nice, maybe I'll come for a walk your way!!
  • Marion and Vern

Yes she had her (our) pup (s) on 2/17/09. I am to the point of counting the days approx. 42 as of today when she will arrive. Still haven't picked her out yet have 3 beautiful females to pick from. We have been shopping for a couple of months now. Here's what we have gotten so far very large pillow type bed (for the den), medium size ball (with Winnie the Pooh on it), stuffed red lobster with rope legs and squeakie, shower head with 6 foot hose, water and food bowl, travel water bowl, toothbrushes/paste and a Pedi Paws. We had bought a receiving blanket that we got our scent on shipped that this week. She will put that in the crate when she is shipped to us sometime in April. We can hardly stand it. Thanks for asking.

Hi Kristen. Want to say HI! Don't get on site much unless somethings on my Email. All the kids are fine, cabin fever and Penny and Bazel just don't like each other! It's so awfully muddy here now with the thaw I only let them out to do their business. Walk them when it's dry on the road. My dad's doing great so far. He just loves the dogs and Roscoe has really taken to him. They are buddies.
I can't believe the pictures with Brodie. He looks like an adult dog now! Wow. Hope all the pets and your girls are doing well. Hope we can keep in touch. Pam
  • Wendt Worth Corgi's

There really isn't more to it then your already doing. I have diapers on my girls and my boys are pretty good about leaving them alone in the house except for in 2 rooms where I do allow breeding. The rest of the house is off limits. Though I have them pretty well managed this isn't to say they are to be trusted. Boys will be boys. Usually at this period of time the female and boys have to always be with me and when can't be closely monitored they are separated so we don't have an accident.
  • penny spencer

How was the Whine Social? Who did you take? Sounds like fun. Muddy here, but sunny and lovely. Already cutting back perennials and raking leaves. We have a pretty nice sized screened porch so my dad and I sit out there with our coffee and the dogs. Love it. He's doing pretty well. Seem to always be taking him to one specialist or another though. It's difficult not hearing from your kids every day isn't it? Just to hear their voice!
They don't realize how comforting that is. I'm getting used to the empty nest. Even though Aaron still lives here
his hours are crazy and we don't see him much. They put an offer on a house and it was accepted. May e able to move in May! Wish they'd wait until they are married, but times have changed. My parents would have killed me way back when.......ha ha. Well, take care Kristen. Good to hear from you any time. Penny

Snowy got his first major yesterday in Fort Worth

I can give you a number to contact the animal control officer. If you are willing to help out. I'm going to dish some money out myself for him. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  • Corgibyassociation

I'm trying to pm you the information as I don't want to leave it for everyone to see.

  • Nancy Dunker

Hi thanks for the kudos, for Gretchen, she is a beauty, Upland is 37mi S/E of Kearney. And yes would like to join the group. Just let me know what I need to do. Nebraska is a wonderful place to live and raise Corgies. We have alot of wide open places, lol.
  • Tina and Cooper

Your photo's are awsome,,,Thanks for joining Garden Corgi's,,,~tina~
  • Nancy Dunker

Hi Kristen, I am anxious to check out the site, thanks for the info. Yes i think is important to get these Nebraskans involved!!!! Lets see what we can do, TTYL.
  • Kent and Lisa Kubie

I know where that is. I am from Herman originally and my wife is from Okland
  • penny spencer

Hi Kristen! So good to hear from you. I don't get on site much at all. Glad you had a nice visit with your daughter and know you're relieved Emily is going back to school. Aaron's wedding is May 15, 2010. The other kids are finishing up finals. Audrey applied to work for Americorps in Denver starting Oct. for 10 months. They will pay $5000 towards tuition at the end of the 10 months. I'll miss her but maybe she'll find what she's looking for. Zach will be taking summer classes and doing some volunteer work. My dad is doing well, though he had a heart attack 3 weeks ago! Home now and feeling better. He loves to get outside and putz around the property and walk the 2 dogs down the road. Roscoe is well. Penny plowed into his head last week and knocked him down. He couldn't get up and went into a seizure. Scared me senseless. I scooped him up and ran inside and just held him until he came out of it. This happened once before when she knocked him over. It's as if the fluid in his brain sloshes around and affects his balance, or something. We had a lab with epilepsy and his seizures were like the ones Roscoe has had. Other than that he's adorable and sassy as ever. How about all your babies? Yeah, spring is here (between the snow flurries!)
Will feel good to get my hands dirty again. Sorry to go on and on. It really is good to "talk" with you. Let's try to keep in touch. Penny
  • Deidra

Thanks for the advice Kristen. I know it's going to take some time to overcome these hurdles. I just didn't want these red flags in my mind to bother me too much. It's good to hear others' stories. :)
  • Shannon

Hi Kristen, Just had to let you know that Snowy got his championship today and should be back home by the end of the month. Thinking of having him entered into the Omaha show at the Qwest next month just for fun.
  • Shannon

I will sign him up as soon as I get a agent code from a handler out of KC who had helped us last year. I knew she would love to show him again and she will be at the show. I should get the times for corgis about a week or so before the shows
  • Nate, Andrea, and Giada

Wow, you have quite the corgi-clan...they are adorable!!! We got Giada from a town outside of Mullen. The family was extremely nice...even let us come out and visit to meet the parents and spend the day with the puppies a month before picking her up! Both of here parents are working herders and this was their second litter. We love your idea of a spa day, but probably won't be able to make it this weekend...definitely another time though!!!!!!!!
  • Amy Chandler

Kristen thanks for the warm welcome! I would love to be able to meet and get together with other Corgi owners in Nebraska! I am so glad I found this site!
    Amy and Casey
  • Betsy

I checked your photos and she does resemble Fergie quite a bit. Yours look like they have such great personalities. It's funny that you have so many photos of your corgis in the snow. My one photo is of the one snow day we've had in the 5 years I've had Sonoma.
  • Shannon

Hi Kristen, hope you make it to at least one day of the shows in Omaha this coming weekend. The corgi's group starts off around 9am Sat and I think around 10-10:30 on Sunday
  • penny spencer

Hi Kristen. Did you get Email from me last week? Seems it was not accepted on your end? Hope your summer is going well. My dad went into hospital again this week. On the same day, Audrey came to let dogs out. Bazel ran out to the road to bark at a woman walking 3 great danes. He was mauled terribly but is on the mend. Audrey was hysterical when she called me at hospital! She managed to pick him up and get him to vets. His entire back and neck is shaved because of all the punctures and tears. One is 6" long! Vet said it was a vicious attack and he was lucky the carotid was scratched but not punctured! I filed a report with animal control, but all dogs are vaccinated and hers were on a leash so......she hasn't even come by to see if he is okay. So upsetting. Can't help but think if it had been Roscoe he'd never survive something like that. He HATES the cone collar so I've been online looking for inflatable which apparently Petco has. Hope it works. Take care.
  • penny spencer

Thanks Kristen. Stress can get to me, but.....I do what Ihave to do like we always do right? I had forgotten your sweet Basil, but the fact he was mauled also. Our little cannoli is doing better, up and about, but all of a sudden his wounds are bleeding more. I found an inflatable collar for $25 but he seems to be getting to one of his wounds. Darn it. Hate to use the cone but may have to over night. Thanks again for your concern.
  • Shannon

great seeing you and your faimly this weekend at the show. Love the pic you have up. Didn't know you had so many since I last watched the whole slide show. Did you have to travel through the rain after the show? Rained hard almost all the way home for us.
  • penny spencer

Kristen, I meant to tell you how sorry to hear about Tess. We've had lab/retrievers and they're the best I think. So good natured. Sure your family will miss her. We do have to be grateful for the opportunity to have had them in our lives don't we? The skin on Bazel's back became necrotic and he had to have a 2nd surgery to remove most of the skin from his mid section to his tail. All his hair is gone except for his little nub tail! Over the weekend it started to split open and was badly infected by monday morning. Aaron helped me take him back to the vet where they worked on him and kept him overnight. He's doing real well but has to go back every day so they can change the wet/dry bandaging. They think they may be able to re-suture Friday which I am amazed at! The vet bill is amazing but thankfully they're working out a payment plan for us. Discovered my dad has 90% blockage in R carotid artery! All the episodes he's been having are probably related to that and he may be a candidate for carotid stents (he has aortic stents for heart already). Can't believe he hasn't had a stroke already. Hope we can get this done quickly and successfully. Now, what will it be next week...... ? Ha ha. Take care.
  • Jim & Wendy Bates

Thank you for the warm welcome ... Beautiful Pictures.
We are about to bring another into our home next weekend. A female Tri ... Looking forward to her arrival and while nothing can replace Chloe' ... it has been a while since we had a baby Bunny butt in the house and this feels right.
  • Tabitha Sparks

    How precious.
  • Marianne Timko

    Hi Kristen,

Thank you. Corgi is doing just fine. Can't believe how far that little one has come. She taught all of us a lesson in coping.

    Marianne
  • penny spencer

Hi Kristen! Bazel doing fine. Stitches out. Really funky, punky haircut though.
Don said we should shave all of his fur off. He has allergies on his feet which I use a spray on and now his eyes are runny and swollen and itchy. Do you know what I could use for his eyes. Vet said l/2 benadryl 3x day, but it makes him groggy. Poor guy has been through so much. After all the tests he's been through, my dad doesn't have enough blockage in his carotids to stent! Nothing out of the ordinary but still don't know why he's having blood pressure problems. Roscoe seems to be getting more aggressive which concerns me. Afraid it will become a real problem in the future. Vet said she would absolutely not neuter him because of anesthesia and I know an unneutered male dog can be more aggressive. What is new doggies name?
Poor little girl. They do adapt to poor or no sight but do bump into things.
Roscoe is only allowed in kitchen/dining room which is fairly large and he knows where furniture is placed. Manages to avoid things most of the time but sometimes you'll hear him run into cabinet or chair, etc. It is interesting to watch him even outside because for the most part he seems to sense when something is in his path, maybe echolocation? It scares me when he starts to run figure 8s and is going full speed because of running hard into something like the deck or tree then I have to be the bad guy and stop his fun. He does follow sounds and your voice. Would love to be able to get together. Know we'd get along great! How did you get the new pup? Take care and good luck with her. Pam
  • Joshua

Thanks for the kind words! I'm going to try to put together a little video with a plot sometime soon, so stay tuned!
  • Gian Lincuna

WHAT a small world! Haha. I spoke with Lacy, and she is a terrific person. Your corgi looks amazing!
