About My Corgi(s):
Sidney is our first purebred corgi and we are thrilled to have him. He was born 7/11/07. We planned to start him in agility training, but there was a long waiting list. So while waiting for an opening, we took classes for therapy dog training. As it turns out, he's a pretty good therapy dog, so we stuck with that and never got around to agility. Now he is training as a Rally dog. We love it! He's one smart little character! Oh, and he's undocked, so his beautiful tail attracts a lot of attention - good attention.

On August 30th, Sidney suddenly came up lame in his hind left leg. The next day we got xrays for him and found out he has severe hip dysplasia. On Sept 7th he had a Femoral Head Ostectomy to relieve the pain. His right hip is not in great shape either but we're hoping that with glucosamine supplements and exercise we can keep it healthy. *Update* You would never know Sid has surgery now. He moves beautifully. The water therapy and supplements have worked wonders.

Bruce is our corgi/elkhound (?) mix. We rescued him from the brink of euthanasia when he was approximately 10-11 years old (he had a day or two left to go). He's about 16 now and his only sign of his advanced age are bad teeth and slow mornings. I adore Brucie and he worships me. He's my funny short angel with a puffball tail (thanks to the elkhound side). He's about 18 now and going strong.

Chester is our "tall dog". He's a black dane/lab mix that we got from a "free to good home" ad in the local newspaper. He's also old, about 15 years old. We know his age because we've had him 14 years, and he was an adult when we brought him home! He's a very serious dog and not very affectionate compared to the corgis, but he has been a very good dog, just aloof. We can't take Chester as many places as the shorties because he does not travel well. He's almost 17 now and has definitely slowed down. *UPDATE* Chester had a sudden decline and was sent to the bridge on April 15th 2013 at the age of 17.

In February 2013 we added Connie to our family. She's a little tri corgi who was picked up as a stray and put up for adoption at our local Humane Society. She's a real sweet girl and loves to play ball. She's learning a lot from Sidney about life here. We can't believe that her family never came to claim her. She's got good manners and she gets along well with the other dogs and the cats, and everyone she meets is her best friend.

And the pack grows! In November we took in a black-headed tri who we named Copper. He and Connie were both born in 2009 and they are great buddies and a ball-chasing tag team. Copper is sweet and cuddly and eager to please.

I have:
Pembroke

Happy to be here. The corgi we had before Merlyn also was with tail. We are a very dog rescue family. Husband transport dogs on the weekend. Our three non-corgis are rescues too.

Thanks for the warm welcome. We took the dogs to the Mendocino Coast for Xmas and it was wonderful! We stayed in Fort Bragg at the Surf Motel and they have an awesome enclosure on the property for the dogs to run around off leash and "do their business" in. The room was decent, under $100 a night with a mini-fridge and microwave, and that was with the pet fee included. I'd recommend checking it out if you head that way:()

Happy New Year (2 weeks late) to all corgis and their admirers from Renee and Lacey.
  • Anna Morelli

Thanks for the welcome, I'm enjoying the site, Anna

Thanks! It's one of my favorite pictures of Ed. No, I didn't know that. I know King owned a corgi named Frodo, though! I might have gone with "Oy" but billy bumblers need the corkscrew tail, y'know? And he's got... well, almost no tail.   I'm reading the series over for a second time right now. I can't wait for the movie and tv series.

Yes, he's a neutered Pembroke tri-color rescue, was found as a stray in December, but no one claimed him so after the requisite time he was put up for adoption.  Seems much happier and more relaxed here than in a kennel environment.  Eats like crazy.
  • Shawna & Eddie

Really? I'll have to look for it!
I'm nervous, too. There's so much detail to add in, in order to make the world come to life like it does in the books. I know King has a great attitude when it comes to turning his books into film, though-- sort of a "If it doesn't work out, no biggie" attitude.

Thanks for the welcoming! I joined this site to possibly connect with other local Corgi owners and there pups. Any idea how to set up play dates?
  • Shawna & Eddie

Not yet! I started to and got a couple chapters in, but I got distracted and haven't picked it up since.
Me too! I hope he plays himself in The Dark Tower-- who else could play his part?
  • Rocky Wiles

Thank you! I hope this website will help me with our puppy.

    Hello,

My Corgi is Petey. He's my best boy for 10-years now. Looks like you have a very nice brood of your own :)

  • Dee Dee Rypka

Thanks! I think I'm going to have to take more photos of my three and get them on this site. It's still a bit confusing, and I'm not all that technosavvy, but I do know how to upload photos. My three are Dexter, a 5 year old male tricolor, Zoe, 4 (the Queen), and Melly, 5, the new one, rescued from a couple who weren't taking care of her. Zo and Melly, the females, are red/white Pembrokes. Dexter is the herder of the bunch. Melly is actually my sixth corgi--my first was Sely, born in 1979. Then there was Anny and Jessie. I miss them very much, but I'm so glad I have Dex, Zo, and Melly.

Thanks for the welcome. :) I've done some online researching for breeders in the area but so far the only two I've found listed are in a known Puppy Mill area of PA so I'm a little hesitant. With any luck  someone will know where to point me!

Good morning to my new friend-corgi owner..Hows Cali. and does your corgi like the beach? Cuddles(BUG) and I went to San Diego last June for the Corgi meet up at Kerney Mesa Park...It was so much fun...She loved the sand at the beach but the water not to fond of...maybe because it was cold..Just a note to say hi..Take care...Dena-n-Bug...n Phoenix...

    Hi-

I saw your comment about Roxie, who is up for adoption. You suggested that I start a discussion thread so more people see my announcement. I thought I did do that, so I'm a little confused by what you mean.

Thank you so much for your help! She is a wonderful dog, and we want to find her a wonderful home.

  • Cyndy Glasscock

Thanks ! Now, why can't I get my pics to upload? I want to show off our corgis too:-(
  • Sara Hoffman

I think Trixie is mixed with a Lab. She's more yellow and white like a lab, and she is bigger than a corgi, but she has the short legs, big ears and face like a corgi. It's a very awkward mix but she's absolutely adorable.
  • TV Artist

    Aw thanks!
